FSX in Windows 8.1 Addon Aircraft Problem

Recommended Posts

I am running FSX on an ASUS M51AD with a NVIDIA GTX 760 (192-bit) graphics card. I have been running FSX with a lot of addon aircraft and max scenery (ultra) for a year or more with no problem. All of a sudden I ran into a problem where the program would hang up and stop working. I removed and reinstalled the program (FSX Gold and Acceleration). Now when I run the program the addon aircraft do not show up in the change aircraft menu nor does FSUIPC C4 run. The program performs OK with the default aircraft.

If I direct the program to run as in a earlier version of Windows (Windows 7 or lower) through the Windows Control Panel then FSUIPC4 C4 does load and all of my addon aircraft appear in the change aircraft menu but the main program window is blank (blue sky and clouds but no aircraft). Has anyone run into this problem? Are there any suggestions for a fix? I would appreciate any help.

"All of a sudden I ran into a problem where the program would hang up and stop working. "

This is the point where you should have used the Windows Event Viewer to discover what the real problem was. Looks like you substituted one problem for another.

If you have a recent restore point before your FSX re-install...

Also, see if the original problem is still in the Event Viewer so the real problem can be addressed.

"Faulting module name: unknown"

This means it's one of your add-ons.

The "All of a Sudden" syndrome is a tell tale sign it was the last or nearly the last add-on you put in. The only way to solve the problem is to remove the add-ons one at a time starting with the last, working backward, testing FSX COMPLETELY between each removal.
