Guest robmills
hi. so glad i found this place. :) I have fs2004 on a HPTouch PC Vista. I havnt updated any software except adding a few freeware aircraft. Specifically, i like the 737-800 Air Scheffel and seems to run good ... my question : after looking at the File Lib here... i see lots of addon updates and such, and was wondering what i might be missing out on by not installing these. Are there some that i shouldnt both with? HD Space and preformance isnt an issue so its not that im trying to conserve... rather id like to get a better experience from fs2004 as an alternative to having to buy a new FS package. I have tried downlading better SCENERY files. etc... but those are hit and miss at best, much like freeware aircraft. i noticed the MUST HAVE SECTIONS, and i suppose this is from where my question comes. How many of these are stock files, already in my FS2004 dir? Are they all upgrades? Do i need NOVA textures? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Airport 2.x textures: Common scenery textures Airport 2.x: Scenery Designer VOD Textures: Common scenery textures ASD 2.1 Textures: Common scenery textures NOVA Gold Textures: Common scenery textures NOVA Textures: Common scenery textures Rwy12 Object Placer: scenery design tool and object library EZ Scenery Library; all inclusive scenery object collection Rwy12 Scenery Library; all inclusive scenery object collection Classic Libraries; massive collection of scenery objects Gerrish Gray's Trees: Common scenery textures (Sorry, no longer available) TrafficTools: A utility to program AI aircraft traffic AFCAD 2: A utility to add gates and taxiways to airports EditVoicepack: A utility to add missing callsigns, aircraft and airports to ATC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ive been very happy with Boeing 737-800 By Arjan Scheffel... it has been the best cockpit experience ive had so far here... so... am i missing out big time? or do i continue to sift thru the rubble for a jem like that? i really appreciate anything anyone can suggest. I also apologize if ive posted this in the wrong section. Thanks rob
StringBean
None of those files are required to run FS9 and none of those files are stock files. Airport 2.x textures: Common scenery textures VOD Textures: Common scenery textures ASD 2.1 Textures: Common scenery textures NOVA Gold Textures: Common scenery textures NOVA Textures: Common scenery textures These are all textures that developers have used to create addon scenery. Most addons include any needed textures, but not all. Installing these textures into ...\FS9\Texture is a good idea if you plan on installing a bunch of addon scenery. Airport 2.x: Scenery Designer Rwy12 Object Placer: scenery design tool and object library TrafficTools: A utility to program AI aircraft traffic AFCAD 2: A utility to add gates and taxiways to airports EditVoicepack: A utility to add missing callsigns, aircraft and airports to ATC. These are all tools to create addon scenery and AI traffic. No need to install them unless you want to try and create something. EZ Scenery Library; all inclusive scenery object collection Rwy12 Scenery Library; all inclusive scenery object collection Classic Libraries; massive collection of scenery objects These are collections of object libraries that are commonly used to create addon airports. Like the textures, no harm in installing them, no need if you are not using any addon scenery. Gerrish Gray's Trees: Common scenery textures (Sorry, no longer available) This is an object library of trees that was very popular and is no longer available. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do?
