alexzar14
I installed the sim and right away bought the SSG 748i (it cost less then others, must be the early product in the family of advanced products), will be flying it tomorrow. questions: 1. I don't have terminal buildings in some airports - KLAX and KJFK have plain aprons with no terminal buildings, although the cities are there. I spent over an hour installing the thing with 8 discs, what the... The regions I selected to install are North America and Europe up to about Moscow. I tried few more: KORD, EGLL, EDDF - these three do have building terminals. Why not KLAX & KJFK? 2. (very important) I can't find a flight planner in the X-Plane, where is it? suppose for tomorrow's flight I will input the waypoints into the FMS as noted in the tutorial of SSG 747, or (shall I decide to fly a different flight) I can open the FSCommander, generate a plan and then enter the waypoints into the FMS manually. But nevertheless I must know how do create and use plans in X Plane if I ever want to fly planes with no FMS. That's it, two very simple questions. I did find the weight and fuel editing option, need to figure out the scenery and flight planning business.
JSkorna
1. Update your version. Many other airport updates have been added and those that have not, you will need to see if there is scenery for them. XP mostly came with empty airports. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
alexzar14
110 X-plane users who viewed these question don't know why there are no terminal buildings at KLAX and JFK? -))))))) KMIA is even worst, it is in the middle of the sea although I had entire North America installed. Anyway I managed to take off, no flight plan filed because I don't know how. I entered waypoints into FMS, the plan generated by FSCommander. I like it!! I think it is not as good as FSX as far as "simulation" goes but a better world-environment. Airplanes are fun (this one particularly), kinda like a very-nice PC toy. Tomorrow will try Ramzzess 757. JSkorna
OK, we'll try this again. Most XP airports are blank pieces of land, even KLAX and KJFK. Update your XP and you will then get about 1,000 airports that will now have buildings. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
RatRace
KMIA is even worst, it is in the middle of the sea although I had entire North America installed. Even so, airports in the middle of a sea almost always means the scenery wasn't installed, or not properly anyway. As for "missing airports", there's a lot of freeware out there. First place to search, X-plane's own gateway http://gateway.x-plane.com/airports/page Best donationware KLAX as of now http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=26246
alexzar14
JSkorna: I must have missed your first post. I have current version 10.32 though. RatRace: Ok will check into possible uninstalled scenery. >As for "missing airports", there's a lot of freeware out there. thanks! >Best donationware KLAX as of now I was never granted the access to that site, two days have gone since I've registered an account :-( Another thing I don't like is having a Disc-1 in the bay to run the sim. Anyway to go bypass this?
alexzar14
An update: >Even so, airports in the middle of a sea almost always means the scenery wasn't installed, or not properly anyway. This we fixed! >Best donationware KLAX as of now http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?...showfile=26246 Can't access the download, not permitted. >As for "missing airports", there's a lot of freeware out there. First place to search, X-plane's own gateway http://gateway.x-plane.com/airports/page Doesn't do anything, same "blank pieces of land". Tried: KLAX, KJFK, KLAS, KMIA. I'm afraid you're going to have to a bit of reading, just like the rest of us did;) Here is a great place to start: http://www.x-plane.com/manuals/desktop/ A link to X-Plane's Scenery Gateway was posted by myself a while back, and will tell you what default airports have been enhanced: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?287729-The-X-Plane-Scenery-Gateway X-Plane's learning curve can be quite steep compared to other simulators, so a degree of patience is needed on your part. One thing is certain though...if you are seeing water around an airport then you have failed to install the scenery correctly (read the manual). Lastly...asking how to bypass X-Plane disc 1 is not something we do here, so please don't do it again. Cheers
alexzar14
Thanks Dominic, the info is what I need! Will read. ...took off in this baby, this is very good, didn't expect something this good in X-plane... Only thing the generator drive is off and I can't reengage it. At some point I clicked on it don't remember when and why. The other thing is the default fuel loader, don't know the way it works but it loads more into the center tank than wing tanks... will have to figure this out. KMIA-KJFK. evm
AFAIK the generator drive (=gear box) only gets disconnected in an emergency, and cannot be re-connected in flight. You need a ground service tech for that.
alexzar14
Got it. I did hear about it. Ok so I finished this flight... guys I'm very upset with X. You lover one notch of flap (at the correct speed per performance table, we did this million times in FSX, plus the flap setting/speed is displayed on ND display you just have to follow up) and you fly up to moon like a rocket, at 20G. You lower the speed a tiny bit, and in less then half a second the speed drops by like 10 knts. Ok I exaggerated a bit (a BIT!) but you get the point. I have no problem with Xplane, Xplane addons, visuals, world, etc etc... but if you can't FLY in it... At this point I'm not saying "enough" because I understand many people fly these 757/A320neo/777 (and other stuff) successfully so I assume there is a way to fix this via settings, not sure... but I also consider a possibility of that these problems are not fixable and people just ignore it - hope I'm wrong. Will have to research.
