Terrain mesh for Orbx

Pardon for asking this, I did my research both on google and here, registered on Orbx (pending approval). I have few questions I wasn't able to clarify for myself.

I know so far that Pilot's "FS Global X" is the recommended terrain for Orbx & Vector. Now questions:

1. some articles say you need an additional compatibility package by Pilot's to make Global X 100% Orbx compatible. This additional package costs like $20 something. Others say there are different Global X releases and there is one done for Orbx specifically. Please, My head is going to explode! ;-)))))))))))

Please, advice once, what Global X package do I need for Orbx? What's it called?

2. This is a separate question.

Besides Global X basic, there are three regional packages called "Global Ultimate". What are those for?

I have FS Global 2010 as my mesh, and it works very well with FTX Global Base + Vector. No separate product needed.

FSX Acceleration with FreeMeshX, SceneryTech, FTX Global Base + Vector, FTX AUS NZNI NZSI

Dell Precision M4400 laptop (Intel Core2Duo @ 3GHz; 4GB RAM; nVidia FX770M)

Saitek AV8R-01 joystick; 64-bit Win7 Ultimate; FSEconomy (as fun as it gets!)

I agree. I've been using FS Global 2010 with both FTX Global and Vector for some time and have seen absolutely no issues.

I have successfully downloaded all Global 2010 files, about to install this evening.

There's is indeed one that is Orbx-compatible at flightsimstore.

Would I have to worry about layer settings? Can I simply execute the installer, have it install itself and fly without any further manual settings required?

There is no manual in the zip file, perhaps it will be installed with the software.
