flightplanes
Which sea and land plane, in use today, would you say is the most popular? For example the Boeing 737 is the most used airliner but what about sea planes...Grumman HU-16 Albatross? Twin Otter? Is there a moderner plane? I know, particularly in southern hemisphere countries and around the Islands, sea planes are frequently used, so which one, above all, is the most purchased and most used? tazjet
The Twin Otter floatplane is still in use in Canada and the Maldives. The Canadair amphib is mostly used for firebombing in Greece, France, Canada etc, but in all honesty there is barely any use of flying boats commercially around the world now. Shin Meiwa still make the US-1 Flying boat for JASDF in SAR roles. They did propose a pressurised 50 pax version back in the 1990s but nobody was interested. the Beriev Be-200 and A-60 Albatross jet flying boats are available from Russia, but no takers. China even developed the An-12 cub into a flying boat for SAR work, but no commercial version.
