Captain Sam.
Hello, I was wondering if FS simulates the effects of daylight saving time in terms of light. Will the 6pms now be darker while the 6ams are lighter? Thank You.
kingnorris
Somewhat yes. While 6pm won't be pitch black, it will be dusk. scott967
IMHO as far as the way the sun works, I think it is pretty accurate. But as far as ambient light, there are some parameters in fsx.cfg that can be tweaked. I've never read of anyone playing around with those to evaluate how important they are. scott s. . mqytn
From airnav.com:KMQY Sunrise and sunset Times for 07-Nov-2014 Local (UTC-6) Zulu (UTC) Morning civil twilight 05:49 11:49 Sunrise 06:16 12:16 Sunset 16:44 22:44 Evening civil twilight 17:11 23:11 FSX "dawn"12:15 and FSX "dusk" 22:43..not bad info for a sim. One main reason I use FSX sunrise/sunset times is for programming A.I. Since I program for airports all over the globe, I have to get the correct times of day for an airplane to takeoff. tvieno
I always thought FSX set the position of the sun, moon, and stars in the sky based what the date and zulu time is set at regardless of the DST time. http://my.flightmemory.com/pic/tvieno.gifhttp://www.vatsimsigs.co.uk/Status/1136602.jpg
