bjorn2004
Dear All - help needed please! We have the FSX Gold Edition - UK version. My son bought Die Grosse Airbus Family Box [Addon fur den Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004/FSX] - German version whilst on holiday in Germany [add on with 8 different types of Airbus] We installed the addon back in the UK but we got an error message saying it only works with the German version of FSX!! We really don't understand why this is - surely it's all Microsoft? Is there any way of getting these to work together? We can't find an equivalent UK version of the Airbus Family Box add on anywhere. We could try and find a German version of FSX but are concerned this wouldn't then load into UK PC given apparently the German add on doesn't work. Can someone please help! :( Many thanks
evm
We really don't understand why this is - surely it's all Microsoft? Well - no. Only FSX itself is Microsoft. I'm not aware of any addons that Microsoft themselves have released, that's why everyone talks about 3rd party developers like PMDG, Aerosoft etc. The product you have there is distributed by Halcyon.de and it may very well be that it is only compatible with a specific version of FSX. AFAIK (and per Halcyon website) the models were made by http://www.AFS-design.de. You should contact them (actually, it is just one guy) and ask for help - their website can be switched to english too. And if they offer their stuff globally it IMO should work globally too. When do you get this error message and what does it say exactly? Technically there are very few reasons why the addon shouldn't work with any FSX. mgh
Yes it is all Microsoft but there are variants of FSX in English as well as: French German Italian Japanese Polish spanish Russian It's not surprising that an German langauge add-on won't work with an English langauge of FSX or did you expect the developer provide it in all of the languages. You bought it as "Die große Airbus Family Box" and the box requirements are "Installierte Vollversion Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 / FSX"
bjorn2004
Hi - thanks for taking time to reply, much appreciated. Will try the website you recommended. The error message came after we (thought we) installed all 3 parts of the addon - it said something like (in German) this requires the German version of FSX - my wife's German so knew what it said. Hopefully the guy on the website can help. Cheers
bjorn2004
Hi MGH, thanks for your reply. Being slightly naive perhaps and not being technical at all I would have assumed that the software wouldn't be written in a foreign language unlike the packaging. Strictly speaking the box actually says add on for Microsoft fsx 2004/fsx - it doesn't say add on for German version of Microsoft fsx 2004/fsx. Hey ho. ScatterbrainKid
Stuff doesn't always cross borders very well, for example only today I clicked on a simple video and the message came up- "sorry not available in your country"
mgh
You bought Die große Airbus Family Box in Germany with a box lablled in the German language. Purchaser in Germany will expect to use the german version of FSX - not the English or any other language. Did the box say "Installierte Vollversion Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 / FSX"?
