tbenn52139
PAVD Valdez, Alaska Jeppson automated weather from sea level. Visibility greater than 20 miles, scattered clouds at 800 feet, broken at 7000 feet, airport elevation 120 feet. Valdez shows scatterd stratus at 800 and cumulus at 7000 with some mountain tops obscured. When I go to AVIATIOWEATHER.GOV, METARs, I get visibility greater than 20 mile, scattered at 10000 and scattered at 20000 from ground level. I don't understand the big difference between the two reports???? I try to use advance weather when I fly at airports above 1000 feet to try to correct for sea and ground level elevation weather so the clouds are not sitting on the ground. shanwick
Could it be, perhaps, that these two stations are reporting the weather at different times? In other words, one of them is out of date quite a bit. Just a thought! Dijvid
mqytn
The flightsim real world weather has not been updated since spring. My hometown has been foggy for months. That would explain the difference.//KMQY 191456Z VRB04KT 10SM SCT023 13/06 A3026//PAVD 191456Z 06006KT 10SM FEW002 M01/M04 A2923
