/images/notams/notams22/dino0411/sukhoi-1.jpgWe are sorry but we were not able release the SU-31 during theweekend as we planned, as there were a couple of last-minute tweaks wehad to test and there were some errors in the manual. On the good side, last night we managed to fix pretty mucheverything...and the plane is ready for release: we just need to dothe bureaucratic stuff for file submission with the different vendors(every vendor requires slightly different things) but we expect theplane to be available in the next few days from all of our usualoutlets... except Microsoft, which - as usual - will have a slightlylonger lead time. /images/notams/notams22/dino0411/sukhoi-2.jpgPending Microsoft testing, the plane should also be available on XBox. Contrary to the commercial logic, we'd like to talk about a bit ofthe defects of this project - or, in marketing jargon, "opportunitiesfor further improvement": While we think the plane is fun to fly, and you should be able topull most aerobatic maneuvers, the flick/snap roll behavior is notgreat and it is difficult to control it precisely. Also, the simulatorseems to overestimate the energy loss during vertical maneuvers, so we"pumped" the engine and prop performance a little to have achievespeeds closer to the real aircraft during some maneuvers. Also, since the avionics are super-basic (just a radio and atransponder), this is probably not your best pick for long-crosscountry flights or any kind of complex navigation. Retail price will be around €17.5, depending on currencyexchange and applicable taxes. /images/notams/notams22/dino0411/sukhoi-3.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams22/dino0212/dino1.jpgWe'll do a new round of tests before releasing the SU-31: whilethis aircraft has already been through a full Beta test last year, wehave made further changes to the flight model which require anassessment and feedback from users. /images/notams/notams22/dino0212/dino2.jpgMSFS flight model does not work particularly well forunlimited-class aerobatics, so we do not expect the final product tobe good enough for serious training - but we hope it will still be afun model to fly. We are still trying to replicate the "feel" of the aircraft, so, ifyou have some stick time with the Su-31 (or Su-26 or Su-29) or similaraircraft and/or you think you can provide meaningful feedback, pleasesend us an email to indiafoxtecho at gmail dot com - adding "SU-31ADDITIONAL TESTING" in the subject. /images/notams/notams21/dino1005.jpgJust a quick note on the SU-31: we have put the development "onhold" on this project, waiting for the next simulator updates (SimUpdate 6). According to the information we have, these update shouldbring improvements to the flight dynamics which *may* lead to a betterflight model for aerobatic planes... so we believe it makes sense towait for the update before doing further work on this plane. Note that, apart from the flight model and the sounds, it ispractically ready for release. Source IndiaFoxtEcho Updates Progress On MSFS Projects

/images/notams/notams21/dino0914/dino-1.jpgAs we have not provided updates on our other projects in a while, here is a quick summary of where we are: T-45C GoshawkWe have decided to invest some time to learn how to make a decentHUD in HTML5+JavaScript (as opposed to the legacy XML code). The mainreason for this is better readability with different graphic settingsand portability to XBox - also, it is a technology that will be usefulfor the F-35 and M-346. We have also implemented Sim Update V cockpit interaction model andwe will have flight model and avionics improvements. We HOPE torelease this shortly, but as usual no shortcuts: it is done when it isdone. /images/notams/notams21/dino0914/dino-2.jpg /images/notams/notams21/dino0914/dino-3.jpg /images/notams/notams21/dino0914/dino-4.jpgAermacchi M-346We are remaking a few 3D parts as we thought they were not goodenough by our current standards. Apart from that, external textureshave been remastered to 8K and cockpit rebuild/retexturing iscomplete. We will also redo the HUD with HTML5/Javascript. Bestestimate for a beta is end of October. Sukhoi SU-31This project is moving forward...but not as quickly as wewant. Most of the modeling/avionics/cockpit interaction bugs have beensolved, Sim Update V cockpit model has been implemented and flightmodel has been refined...but it is not yet satisfactory. We do not have a release date for it at the moment. Also, we have been receiving a lot of messages about our futureprojects: at the moment we have nothing to announce BUT of course weare considering remaking our older planes (if we made them it isbecause we love them), but our focus is to try our best to deliverquality projects and this will be the driving factor of our futurechoices. /images/notams/notams21/dino0814/indiafoxtecho-1.jpgSince some have asked, here is a quick update on one of our "sideprojects", that is the SU-31 - not great news I am afraid. Apart from the fact that the flight model did not meet theexpectations of some of the testers, it also turned out that some ofthe dimensions of the commercial mesh we started from were incorrect -even to a 10% error. This escaped to our initial inspection but it isclearly not acceptable. /images/notams/notams21/dino0814/indiafoxtecho-2.jpgApart from that, the plane needs some code rework to comply withSim Update V standards, some improvement on the textures and badlyneeds custom sounds for the M-14P engine. Therefore the project has suffered major delays and currently doesnot comply to our quality standards. On the good side, we have have already reworked the 3D file so thatthe dimensional error is now below 1%, the textures for the defaultlivery have been fixed and most of the system and control bugs havebeen fixed. Project is still active and we'll continue working onit. We will try our best not to ship garbage. /images/notams/notams21/dino0814/indiafoxtecho-3.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams21/indi0607/indiafoxtecho-2.jpgQuick update on the SU-31 project: 3D modeling is complete andready for debugging, preliminary flight model is in place but needs asecond pass, avionics are 90% good for testing and the biggestoustanding item is the sound package which is still far from beingcomplete. However, Beta version should not be too far (a couple of weeksmaybe) - as usual we will provide application instructions for theBeta when it is ready. /images/notams/notams21/indi0607/indiafoxtecho-1.jpgAnd, as usual, we are interested in diverse feedback - but we willtry to "differentiate" the SU-31 from the stock Extra 330, soqualified feedback will be most important. /images/notams/notams20/dino1102/long-ez.jpgTwo small requests for help: 1) Long-EZ Flight Model: we have implemented the canard dynamicsintroduced in the latest Flight Simulator updates... and the behaviorof the aircraft changed quite a lot, to the point in which we want toretest it. Therefore we are looking to a couple of Long-EZ users witha significant flight experience in the real aircraft to provide somefeedback on the new dynamics. If you qualify and want to lend a hand, please drop an email to indiafoxtecho@gmail.com with subject "Long-EZnew flight model" and a small recap of your flight experience with thereal aircraft. /images/notams/notams20/dino1102/su-31.jpg2) We have almost finished modeling the SU-31...but we are havinga hard time finding very high-definition pictures of the aircraftgauges (they have to be good enough to create the backgrounddials). If you have some and are willing to share them, please let usknow. P.S. fast jet fans, do not despair...soon we'll have some news foryou guys too...
