/images/notams/notams21/vsky0222/vsky0222.jpgBy concept, all three VSKYLABS Robinson projects (R22/R44/R66) weredeveloped side by side in a tremendous effort and coordination. TheR66 was the first to reach v1.0 milestone, followed eight months laterby the R44 v1.0 release which was an important stage in thedevelopment of several important aspects of the VSKYLABS R22. The R44v1.0 was also an important milestone in the preparations of the 2ndVSKYLABS R66 variant (planned with the classic analog cockpit anwithin the project development scheduled road-map). However, during development, it got clear that the R22 developmenteffort must be shifted down in priorities, for various (good)reasons... /images/notams/notams21/vsky0222/vskylabs-r44-r66.jpgAmong the reasons is the fact that the R22 helicopter appearance inthe flight-sim world (and in X-Plane) got a bit "flooded"...and therewas no good reason to add an additional R22, for sure not before theR66 and R44 helicopters, which were "needed" in X-Plane with a widerand deeper simulation scope... Developing and updating add-on aircraft/helicopters is a *huge*effort that takes months and years to complete. So while the VSKYLABSR22 development was shifted down in priorities (while going up in"quantity"), the R22 development resources were channeled to otherfascinating VSKYLABS projects (including other helis and gyros), andallowed to execute several important existing projects updates, earlier. At the present, the VSKYLABS R66, R44 and the Cabri G2 are coveringthe major target categories for mainstream, popular training andgeneral aviation helicopters simulation. So with the several existingR22's out there, there is no severe *void* left with thisdecision. In the light of the above, shifting the R22 down in priorities is agood call in several aspects. At the present, the VSKYLABS Robinson R22 Project is servingin-house for various testing and development purposes. It is stillconsidered as an active-development project but it is on a lowerpriority and it will be released when time is right. The exact timeframe for this has not been set yet. Source

/images/notams/notams20/vsky1103.jpgThe VSKYLABS Robinson R44 and R66 Projects - News Flash! During the past few days, both the VSKYLABS Robinson R44 and R66Projects were updated with various planned features/improvements. As planned, once the R44 hit version v1.0, the developmentroad-maps of the projects has been merged, to allow an efficienton-going development, bug fixes and features enhancementsprocess. Several pending updates for the R66 were in 'hold' status upuntil now. Latest updates for both projects included a change in therotor-braking system so that it would be possible to easily assign therotor-brake handle to a key/button in X-Plane. In addition to that, the rotor-brake system braking-power was tuned in both helicopters toallow a more realistic maximum braking power during the shutdownprocess. The updates included also improvement in cyclic roll-inputanimation and interaction, with the addition of a hand-grip axis sothat the cyclic will move more realistically in the roll axis. Additional minor fixes to collective-head switches animations weremade to both projects. Both projects are now on the development road-map tracks, andfuture updates will include additional variants with fixed UtilityFloats, cross-panel implementation, on-going tuning and bug fixes andmuch more!,/p> Source VSKYLABS R44 Released VSKYLABS Update On F-19 Stealth Fighter

/images/notams/notams20/vsky0303.jpgVSKYLABS Robinson R66 v1.05e1 Update was just released! This update is addressing some issues that were resolved in themapping and paint-kit, as well as a minor yet important update to theR66 operation, where the throttle-override was able to remain enabledafter loading a different aircraft in X-Plane. Important Note: The store packages were updated with the latestbuild, and it is now v1.05e1. This is for keeping the gap between thestore build and the user-end progressive build as minimal aspossible. Stay tune for more, as the long-term development road-map for theVSL R66 has just been initiated! Source VSKYLABS Aerospace Simulations 2020 - VSL R66 Log

/images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-1.jpgThe VSKYLABS Robinson R66 Project release is expected to happenthis week (hopefully, if all goes as expected...). Here is a 3D hand, holding a checklist for the VSL R66. It can beshown or hidden on the fly. /images/notams/notams20/vsky0218.jpgThe virtual hand was tested and proved very "handy" in 2D and in VRmodes...and there are good chances that this feature will be includedin version v1.0. /images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-1.jpgSide by side with the endless interior and exterior modeling, engineering, animating, texturing and PBR tasks, a 3D riveting processwill soon begin, to cover the entire helicopter. Same goes to theinteriors screws, nuts and bolts, and additional elements. Flight dynamics and drive-train simulation are getting tighter, andthere is a great effort of bringing the *numbers* to the neededvalues, rates and behavior, within reasonable and plausiblemargins. /images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-2.jpgA note regarding the *advanced* panel shown in the screen shot(real R66 + VSL R66): It is the advanced R66 panel. Although may look to some, at firstsight, as an overwhelming glass-cockpit panel, it is in factconstructed to include the simple, analog instruments which areavailable in the simple cockpit panel (7/9 holes/other Robinson*standard* panels, well know as the "classic" R22 and R44 panels). So practically, flying the R66 using the advanced panel is nodifferent than with the classic one; airspeed indicator, altimeter, vertical speed indicator, N2/Roror rpm, engine torque, MGT, N1% rpm,oil-temp, oil-pressure, fuel-quantity....ALL OF THESE, which areforming 100% of the standard *classic* panel are all existing in theiranalog, original form. So in practice, flying it is quite straightforward to pilots who are used to the classic panel. Attached are clear screen shots of the panel, showing the analoginstruments within the advanced panel layout. /images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-3.jpgThe classic panel is under development as well and it will be optional in the VSL R66 Project - it will be added in one of the planned updates after the initial release will take place. To the ones who are not familiar with the Robinson, the switch onthe cyclic vertical rod is the landing lights switch. The VSL R66 comes with dual-tail-boom strobe-lights (aft and forward). These are visible in the screen shots as well. /images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-4.jpg /images/notams/notams20/vsky0130/r66-5.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams20/vsky0122.jpgOK..."it's alive"...for quite some time...here is a short video tobegin with (apologize for the low quality of the video...). Flight dynamics model-to-systems integration is about to getcompleted, and the VSL R66 is about to start flying extensively (byreal world experienced pilots), to get it into a robust, flawless R66simulation throughout the entire flight envelope and systemsoperation. In addition, it is now the point in which extensive VR tests arehaving a *GO* here at the 'labs...hopefully a first inflight video ofcockpit view in VR will be posted by the end of the week. As noted before, the VSKYLABS R66 has reached a point in whichit is the most comprehensive VSKYLABS project up to date, making useof X-Plane's characteristics and features very deep and thoroughly, with all of the R66 on-board systems being simulated andaddressed. Very exciting. A few words regarding the R22 and the R44: projects development ispushing hard for both. All three projects are complex and there are norelease schedules yet for the R22 and R44 (need to say...althoughseems as a *fast* progress...it is a result of weeks of preparations, followed by months of continuous development effort which will lastdeeper into 2020). The R66 will be released as No.1 (release schedule is set for theR66, but it will be officially announced when time comes). In addition there will be a built-in pause between releases, whentime comes, to allow optimal project and users support for eachproject, especially during the first weeks out in the open. This willreduce the strain and will shorten some of the processes involved inthe R44 and R22 future releases. Source
