Quickie Q200Publisher: Lionheart CreationsReview Author: James HuddisonSuggested Price: $24.95/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.png /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-02.jpg /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-03.jpgWhen I was approached and asked "if Ifancied a Quickie", aside from the obvious raised eyebrows, I jumpedat the chance to review another aircraft from Lionheart Creations -the developers of the excellent Trinidad TB21 GT add-on aircraft(see my review here). Knowing nothing whatsoever about the Quickie aircraft, I performeda little of my own research: /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-12.jpg /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-13.jpgTaking a quote directly from WIkipedia: "The Quickie was primarilydesigned by Burt Rutan as a low-powered, highly efficient Kit-plane".So essentially, people used to purchase and then manually assemblethese aircraft - a sort of DIY aircraft, as it were. I also discovered that there is a World-wide admiration andfascination for this little plane; so with much anticipation, Idownloaded and installed the module into MSFS. For those of you who, like myself, have never even seen a Quickieaircraft before, you are in for a wondrous surprise! I have simplynever encountered anything quite as weird and unique looking as thisaircraft in a flight simulator. /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-01.jpgIt immediately reminded me of a Cat-fish, or some other strangeaquatic looking sea creature - it is quite remarkable. The Quickie Q200 comes bundled with thirteen different liveries, soplenty of choice and variety is on offer there and the exteriormodeling is finely detailed. The interior of the aircraft, albeit simplistic, is of the typicalLionheart Creation high quality and shine: with chrome rimmed dials;plush comfy seating and the apparently obligatory 'Experimental'lettering on the cockpit's back wall. The cockpit is also quiteinteractive, with the option to open/close the canopy (accompanied bya realistic and fluid animation) and an option for differing shades oftinted canopy glass. /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-07.jpgSo, time for a test flight around London City... Upon throttling up and releasing the parking brake, one will noticethat the nose of the aircraft will lower as it gains momentum down therunway. There is nothing to immediately panic about here, as unlikesomething like the Spitfire aircraft, there seems to be no apparentdanger of the front mounted propeller hitting the ground. Within moments, the Quickie was eagerly reaching for the skies;adding a generous amount of nose down trim seems mandatory at thispoint, to avoid the aircraft from reaching Jupiter! I levelled off at around 100 feet above ground level and headedtowards the main City center of London. I immediately noticed the unmatched field of view of the outsideWorld that the Quickie offers; it is quite simply one of the very bestfield of views that I've encountered in a simulated aircraft. /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-11.jpgAlso apparent is its fantastic and fluid handling; performing'barrel rolls' or 'loop-de-loops' is all too easy and massivelyexhilarating! Another neat feature are the noises of airframe stressesand strains when you perform such maneuvers - these are quite subtlebut really help add to the realism and immersion. Dropping down to a tree-clipping 100 feet above ground level, theworld around me zipped by at an alarming rate. The outstanding fieldof view that the Quickie Q200 offers, coupled with 160 knot employedspeed, made for a thrill induced and nail biting flight; with memaking small adjustments with my Hotas, to avoid oncoming obstaclesand buildings - totally recommended! /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-04.jpg /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-05.jpgAfter a short & extreme, sight-seeing tour of London City Center, Iheaded back towards London City Airport and lined up for an approach. With help of the excellent included thorough manual, I slowed myaircraft down to a typical approach speed of 80 knots and easilymanaged to land on runway 10 - one does have to be a little carefulupon touchdown, as a wayward bounce can lead to you crumpling thepropeller; but generally, the Quickie is fairly straight forward toland. So, this leads me on to my next section of this review: who would Irecommend the Quickie Q200 to - who would I recommend buy thiswonderful add-on aircraft? The obvious audience would be the existing fans of the Quickieaircraft (either in its real world or simulated format). /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-06.jpg /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-08.jpgFor others like myself, who have never even heard of the Quickie:Well, I would likely have never noticed this add-on if it hadn't beenoffered me as way of a review. Now that I have got to experience andfly the Quickie, I can't now even contemplate a time of me not owningit! I own a fair few scenery add-ons for MSFS and the Quickie isdefinitely my 'go to' aircraft for flying around and seeing (in veryclose proximity) what these add-on sceneries have to offer. I've already made mention in this article about the Quickie'sexcellent field of view of the outside world, when sitting in thecockpit; so, it's simply the ideal aircraft to go and fly in-betweenbuilding and structures and other densely built-up areas. It also has simple autopilot functionality, so flying from town totown (or city to city) is very achievable. /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-09.jpg /images/reviews/quickie/t/Lionheart-Quickie-Q200-10.jpgPriced at $24.95 (or around £18), the Quickie Q200 is budgetfriendly and this one really is a steal. Fans of the real aircraftare no doubt already on the checkout phase of purchase; for the restof you: try something different and truly unique in your flightsimming life - you won't be disappointed with the Quickie. /images/notams/notams21/lion0902.jpgIt seems that some owners of the Lionheart Creations Quickie Q200have yet to find the free manual for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Assuch, here is a post complete with the required Googledownload link: Some people have not found the free download manual for the Q200for MSFS. I thought I would post it here. /images/notams/notams21/lion0831/lion0831.jpgThe Q gets her first update, moving her up to Build 1.1. This fixrepairs the Transponder circuit. On cold starts, people couldn't getthe Transponder to turn on. It is on with 'running' flight starts, but not on the cold 'apron' starts. This update just went out to all Q Dealerships, so it might take afew hours before they have it. It should be up by tomorrow. (Europeis just now going into the evening). [The FlightSim.Com Store hasBuild 1.1 available now for immediate download.] Happy flights! Lionheart Creations - Q200 for MSFS 2020

/images/notams/notams21/lion0831/lion0831.jpgThis is the Q-200 high performance sport aircraft by QuickieAircraft Corporation. This sleek two seater was a homebuilt 'kitplane' that you assembled. This version was the high performance 100HPmodel powered by the Continental O-200. The futuristic design featureda Canard 'Twin Wing' layout with elevators on the front wing andailerons on the wing. Some interesting features are the Flexor reversespoiler system, the twin center fuel tanks that used a fuel transfersystem similar to Concord. The main landing gear was mounted inaerodynamic skirts in the wingtips for the front wing. Incredibly, theQ only weighed 550 LBS dry, 1100 Max at take-off, and featured a verysmall wingspan of 16 feet total. Mind you, you had two sets ofwings. /images/notams/notams21/lion0831/q200-1.jpgThis package features 13 different exterior high detail paintschemes that range from base line kit style, to supercar colorselections, to air racer variants with wild paint schemes andstripes. Interiors vary from nearly each aircraft with panels in gray, light blue, striped paint and color paint, carbon fiber, and alsowood. Some features include 3D instrumentation, the Asobo GNS530 GPSsystem, a simple base line autopilot to help on long flights, anelaborate warning light system, Flexor controls, fuel readouts forboth tanks and a fuel transfer system that requires constant attentionon long flights. Other features include Oshkosh parking mode (parkingmode) that deploys two small camping tents at the tail, and a plexiselector that changes the 'outside only' plexiglass bubble betweentints of 'dark, medium, and nearly clear' plexi choices. The plexialso features the now famous Asobo rain effects with streaming rain, and also fine detail plexi scratches. /images/notams/notams21/lion0831/q200-2.jpgThe aircraft will max out at 180 knots, full throttle. This is aHOT little plane with very moderate power to weight ratio. It isrecommended that you do not use full throttle on take-offs. Just likeother high performance sport planes, such as the Pitts biplane andExtra 330, you must be careful on your rollout on take-offs, lest youspin her out accidentally. I have created a nice manual for it that you can download and readbefore purchase to make sure you would be happy with her. This coolmanual features a lot of screenshots and notes with arrows pointing tothe various systems and lights and knobs and bits, explaining howeverything works, the hidden features you do not always find, and eventhe basics of how to fly it. If you love futuristic things, X-Wings, sport aircraft, highperformance planes, homebuilts, radical aircraft, things that are NOTNORMAL, this baby is definitely for you! /images/notams/notams21/lion0831/q200-3.jpg /images/notams/notams21/lion0831/q200-4.jpgBuild 1.0 is the present 'Build' version available.
