/images/notams/notams22/dino0326.jpgProject updates, World Update VIII, Xbox, Marketplace and weapon models. Let's start with the bad news first: the latest build of the F-35is still causing problems with XBox (freeze, long loading times,CTDs). We believe this is due to the encryption process, but as oftoday the root cause of the problem has not been identified. Weunderstand the frustration of XBox users and we are sorry forthat... we'll keep on working on this. Speaking of the F-35, we have been receiving several messages fromusers who are disappointed for having purchased it on the Marketplaceand therefore and discovering that it has no weapons models. We hopedthat our communications and the product description were clear, but, once again, please note that MARKETPLACE RELEASES HAVE NO WEAPONMODELS. This is not our choice but it is a Marketplace rule dictated byMicrosoft and it is strictly enforced by their test team. For one, our carrier models have been REJECTED from the Marketplaceas they included self-defence weapon models. As for the lates MSFS build (1.24.5.0 "World Update VIII") wehave tested our product (past and future) and they all seem to work asintended. Speaking about our products: F-35 LIGHTNING II - We are still not happy with the new"FCS" flight model and we will continue working on it. Also, we areintroducing further improvements and features. Next update is plannedfor mid-April. SUKHOI SU-31 - It is basically ready for release. We'd liketo add some more LODs to the external model for better multiplayerframe rates and tweak a couple of minor details. It will be offered ata budget price. M-346 MASTER - We have refrained from posting news on thisproject after the fatal accident of March 16th. The project is movingforward, albeit a little slower than we planned, and looking prettygood. USS AMERICA and USS FORD CARRIERS - They have been rejectedfrom the Microsoft Marketplace as the models depict self-defenseweapon systems. We are evaluating the impact of their removal. Source Shop IndiaFoxtEcho at the FlightSim.Com Store, where the carriers ARE available as is the fully functional F-35.

/images/notams/notams21/bell1112.jpgFlyInside is excited to announce that the FlyInside Bell 47G-2A1 isnow available via the Marketplace. The Bell 47 will be available forPC only at this time. The Marketplace version of the 47 shares the same stunning artwork,hyper-realistic flight model, and detailed systems as our web siteversion. The biggest difference you'll notice is the completelyintegrated Heli Manager. Rather than running as a separate program,Heli Manager runs and appears as a floating window inside MicrosoftFlight Simulator with the flip of a cockpit switch. Of course, you'llhave access to all the same settings and tweaks from the version soldat our online shop. We have a friendly and helpful forum frequented by resourceful Bell 47sim pilots. Please visit it for any issues that may arise after yourpurchase of our Bell 47. We cannot wait for new pilots to take our Bell 47 into the MSFS2020skies! /images/notams/notams21/wire0524.jpgFollowing the release of Sim Update 5, the A32NX was pulled fromthe marketplace due to compatibility issues in the stable version ofthe aircraft, requiring an additional fix. Although we have released anew stable version that addressed compatibility issues, we regret toinform the community that the A32NX will not be returning to themarketplace and will not be available on Xbox. The same will apply forthe A380X. We would like to make clear that this decision is not a result ofSim Update 5, but rather other ongoing concerns that were beingdiscussed by the team in the weeks prior. Chiefly, on July 4th, wechanged the A32NX's license from MIT back to GPL-3.0, following theoverwhelming wishes of our development team and their commitment tofree, open source software. However, due to legal concerns regardingcopyleft licenses, Microsoft does not permit GPL-licensed projects tobe listed in the marketplace. As a result we created a separate forkof the A32NX (dubbed the "marketplace edition") with the MIT licensenecessary for marketplace compatibility. It became clear with recent updates, however, that maintaining thisseparate version as well as working around the marketplace's releaseschedule would be a challenge. As new features were being introducedto the mainline version of the A32NX, many developers wished theircode only to remain in that version, under the GPL license. This hadthe effect of making any code that built upon it increasinglydifficult to port to the marketplace edition. One of our other main concerns is the extra workload thatmarketplace and Xbox traffic would place on our support and qualityassurance teams. Everyone at FlyByWire is a volunteer, and works intheir free time out of passion for this project and thecommunity. Having very distinctly different versions of our airplaneon the marketplace and Xbox would overwhelm our support team onDiscord, and double the work for our QA to make sure every new featureworks on both PC and Xbox. Simply put, we just don't have the manpoweror resources. Finally, although the SDK has improved since the release of the sima year ago, it still lacks some key functionality that limits what wecan do with the aircraft. In an effort to work around this, we areconsidering the possibility of running certain components of theaircraft outside the simulator - something that would also not becompatible with the marketplace. We hope you can understand our reasons behind this decision. Weremain committed to producing the most detailed and accurate A320neosimulation possible for the flight simulation community, and we can'twait to see what the future holds. Source

There are two choices when purchasing from Microsoft's website. What is the difference between 'Buy and Download' and 'Buy'? Thank you.

/images/notams/notams21/dino0504.jpgProblems with updates in MSFS Marketplace (and a note on where tobuy our products). Several users are experiencing problems with the recent updates ofthe T-45C and the MB-339 if purchased on the Marketplace. While this is a known issue, unfortunately we have no control overit as the update download and decompression process is managedentirely by Microsoft, and we only provide the content. We have discussed the problem with Microsoft several times, but, while they could replicate the problem, they have not fixed it (yet). In the meantime the following procedure seems to fix the problem: While the simulator is NOT running Locate the Official\OneStore folderIn that folder locate the MB-339 folder (it should be named indiafoxtecho-mb339) and manually delete it.Restart the sim and download the 339 again - and it should update successfullyThen, here are some notes on where to purchase our product and the differences that apply to each distributor...Simmarket and similar vendors like FlightSim.Com Store - Typicallywe distribute our products as a zipped "Community" package. This meansthat the zip file contains a folder which must be manually placed inthe Community folder. We chose this method over an installer as mostof our customers seem to prefer it. The package is not encrypted (andthis may be important for modders). PROs - Deployment is very quick (typically a couple of hours afterour release), package is not encrypted. CONs - Manual installation Orbx - As you probably know Orbx has its own add-on manager (OrbxCentral). This provides automatic updates management andinstallation. PROs - Deployment is quick (typically 24 hrs, 48 in the worstcases), automatic updates and installation, package is notencrypted. CONs - Not many...unless you do not like Orbx Central Microsoft Marketplace - Needless to say, the in-game markeplace isconvenient and easy to access. However, Microsoft has an internalprocess to ingest the package which is quite time consuming (at least5 days, but up to several weeks). Also files are encrypted and lockedto the specific Microsoft user. PROs - Easy to use, automatic updates. CONs - Encrypted files, very slow deployment, add-on is linked to the specific Microsoft user. Note that we have not touched the "monetary" aspect - some of youare asking who they should purchase from so that we get the biggestcut. While we appreciate this, we suggest you buy from the site whichis most convenient for you - the commission for the distributors moreor less the same (with exception of Steam purchases which is a littleworse for us).
