/images/notams/notams19/heav0411/heav0411.jpgOwing to restrictions placed on Germany after WW1 with strictcontrols on armament design and manufacture, the first examples of theHeinkel HE 111 design masqueraded as civilian airliners. First used in the Spanish Civil War, the iconic bomber served welland enjoyed considerable notoriety in the early months of WW2. Rightacross Europe, the Heinkel first brought the fearsome "Blitzkreig" tothe theatre of war. /images/notams/notams19/heav0411/he111-1.jpgIt was during the Battle of Britain and the "Blitz" that theHeinkel HE 111 became famous - recognisable by all for its"glass-house" nose and cockpit. It was this cockpit arrangement thatactually led to the aeroplane's demise as frontal attacks from theRAF's fighters often proved fatal. Although the design of the airframeitself proved it could withstand a great deal of punishment. Despite its losses during the summer of 1940, the Heinkel HE 111was constantly developed and improved in years to follow. The aircraftsaw service in all the major theatres of WW2 and was used to deliver"Buzz-bomb" rocket propelled, guided bombs, torpedoes in shippingattacks and a vast array of other ordnance. Two Heinkels, boltedtogether with a common centre wing and a fifth engine were called"Zwilling" and produced in small numbers to tow giant gliders. /images/notams/notams19/heav0411/he111-2.jpgAfter the War, Spain continued to build the Heinkel under licenceand dubbed the CASA 2 111. Ironically these machines were powered bythe Spitfire and Hurricane's Rolls Royce Merlin engines. Our project illustrates the P2 variant, an early version and acombatant in the Battle of France and Battle of Britain. Flying thatglass-house cockpit is an interesting experience and a change from theconstrictive enclosed cockpits of other simulation aircraft. Wepromise an unique and rewarding ride with the new Heinkel HE 111! Amazing FeaturesAccurately modelled in High Fidelity with an enormous amount of authentic detailFully animated complex control systems for rudder, aileron and elevator are present and the entire pilot's position, seat, pedals and control column system raises and lowers just as the real thing to give better visibility on take-off, landings and whenever forward vision is obscured.¡°Secret¡± modern navigation suite fitted to the cockpit for IFR navigation.Highly realistic, animated pilot, bomb-aimer and mid upper gunner.Authentic stereo sound pack with the signature ¡°out of sync¡± engine throb at full throttle. /images/notams/notams19/heav0411/he111-3.jpgIn Game OptionsA 2D configuration panel for setting up ¡°Cold-Dark¡± starts and bomb dropping. /images/notams/notams19/heav0411/he111-4.jpgTen Liveries And A Paint KitTen Authentic liveriesA bonus "barn find" version in the P3D 4.4+ versionTextures are created using new-technology ¡°PBR Workflow¡± techniques as used in many of today's successful computer games. /images/notams/notams18/vsky1101/he162-1.jpgBack in 2015 VSKYLABS envision a "Test-Pilot" Project series andannounced it in 2017. Two of the projects in the series have struggledbut they've announced progress on another one, with some pictures ofthe HE-162. /images/notams/notams18/vsky1101/he162-2.jpgThe real Heinkel He 162 Volksjager was entered in the WWIIEmergency Fighter Program design competition. It's an awkward lookingsingle jet engine powered airraft with limited range but a top speedof 559 mph - fast for the day. Surprisingly, it's mostly built ofwood. Source

/images/notams/notams18/heav0827/he111-1.jpgAeroplane Heaven has finally shown us some in-sim images of theirupcoming Heinkel HE 111 P2, afterlast monthshowing us some renders without textures. These are the first such shots they have released and the plane is stilla work in progress, but the view inside the glasshouse is looking good. /images/notams/notams18/heav0827/he111-2.jpg /images/notams/notams18/heav0827/he111-3.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams18/aero0726/aero0726.jpgHere are a few renders of the Heinkel HE 111 P2 exterior, which isabout to head for the paint shop. The entire seat unit, pedalmechanisms and control column can be raised as one unit so that thepilot sits higher with his head out of the top hatch. A smallaeroscreen is raised to deflect the wind and protect the pilot fromflying debris. This system was used to give the pilot better forwardvision when taking off and landing and whenever the glass-house wasobscured or damaged. /images/notams/notams18/aero0726/heinkel-1.jpgThis is typical of the advanced nature of this design. The HE 111was a remarkably capable piece of aeronautical design, beautifullycrafted and finished with the very best of German precision, Crewsmust have been very proud of their machines. /images/notams/notams18/aero0726/heinkel-2.jpgThe similarities of the shapes of the tailfeathers to those foundin Spitfire wings is no coincidence. Mitchell is known to havevisited the Heinkel factory before the war and discussed aerodynamicswith them. He returned to England convinced that if Britain did not dosomething quickly to increase the levels of technology and advance thedesign of its military aeroplanes, the coming war could havedisastrous consequences.
