  1. Good evening, I recently decided to go ahead and get the SSTSIM Concorde addon as I was looking to challenge myself with something other than the average Boeing or Airbus. However, even after setting up my aircraft for flight correctly, there is one problem which I have consistently faced with this addon. That is this natural tendency for the jet to bank itself to right regardless of fuel management or trim settings. In short, as soon as I let go of the controls and let the airplane go into its natural resting spot in flight, the resting position it finds is one which has about a 5'ish degree right wing down angle to it. Other than that, the aircraft flies and behaves as if nothing is wrong. Only requiring me to to constantly input opposite aileron, (left aileron in this case), to keep the wings level in flight. Akin to what you would be doing in a single engine prop plane. If anyone has encountered this phenomenon or knows how to fix this, or if this is just how Concorde flies, please let me know as I am truly enjoying the challenge that of which the Concorde provides. Thanks!
  2. Hello, Does anyone have an update on the Aeroplane Heaven Concord for P3D? Thanks!
  3. /images/notams/notams22/conc0503/conc0503.jpgDC Designs are proud to announce Concorde for Microsoft Flight Simulator, afully native MSFS aircraft. 4. /images/notams/notams22/conc0428.jpgShe's back. After tremendous work by CodenameJack, and Concorde users"LameLefty" and "RESETXPDR" on the Microsoft forums, all of the engineand fuel issues have been diagnosed and fixed. The updates will besent to Just Flight and the Marketplace today to ensure Concorde getsback into the skies as quickly as possible for all owners. I should also add that Jorg Neumann at Microsoft has been hugelyhelpful in talking over what went wrong. We were able to find a way toimprove the communication between Asobo Studios and third-partydevelopers prior to Sim Update releases, so that all developers knowmore about what has actually been changed within the sim *before* thefinal update rolls out. The plan is that with a detailed Changelog inadvance of Sim Update releases (but while still in beta), devs canrapidly locate and diagnose issues and prepare their updates with moreaccuracy, instead of wondering what's a new sim-bug and what's agenuine fix or change each time the updates roll out. This idea is aWIP, as it would require Asobo to lock down their code earlier to givedevelopers more time to make changes, but Jorg liked the idea andhopefully it will become a thing in the future. Concorde's update should reach users today or tomorrow, dependingon where you purchased Concorde. Source Latest Sim Update Breaks DC Designs Concorde
  5. /images/notams/notams22/conc0427.jpgAfter much work by CodenameJack and also some great assistance byConcorde fans and users, there appears to be a potential fix ready forConcorde. The alterations by Asobo in the depths of the newfuel_system affect fuel pressure lines, hence the reheats cutting outand the failure of fuel transfer (fuel line pressure too low in bothcases). If all works well, the update will be rolled out within a day ortwo across all platforms. Other aircraft have not been affected asthey don't use the new fuel system yet or their fuel systems are farsimpler than Concorde's immense set up (181 lines, 48 junctions, 33valves and 37 pumps). There is no documentation in the SDK on whatAsobo changed or why. The fault created by the change was reported byConcorde users during the SU9 beta, but nothing was done and nofeedback was provided either to us or to them, so we cannot tell ifit's a sim-bug or intentional. I will post again when the update goes live. We won't changeanything else, this emergency update will be just to ensure thatConcorde is operating correctly again. 6. /images/notams/notams22/dcde0426.jpgDear Asobo Studios: Thank you for breaking our airplanes, for thethird time, with Sim Updates. We will now once again cease productionwhile we try to understand what you have broken, how to fix it, thenget everything updated for our customers (again). That is all. Concorde is effectively grounded until it can be fixedand updated. Apologies to all. ETA: CodenameJack has narrowed the issue down to the new Asobofuel_system. Yes folks, a year and a half since launch, and they'restill changing things as crucial to airplanes as fuel - this bug wasreported during the beta by users, and yet SU9 was released anywaywithout the bug being fixed. Do we now fix it our end? Will Asoboissue a patch? Will the patch then break our fix? The beta system isof absolutely no use if Asobo do not act on crucial issues such asthese *before* going live with their updates. The fighter jets (F-14, F-15 and F-15) and PT-17 Stearman are stillon the older fuel system, so appear unaffected at this time. Source
  7. /images/notams/notams22/dcde0408/dcdesigns-1.jpgSo, one week on from the launch of Concorde, and it's time to talkabout the future. First up is Concorde's second foundational update, v1.0.2, outtoday, which is to ensure that everything essential that needscorrecting has been corrected, and most importantly that the in-gameInteractive Checklist is 100% correct. This is so console users canfollow an accurate A-B-C flight from start-up to shut-down withouthaving to reference the manual. This is why Concorde was not releasedto the Marketplace at the same time as third-party stores - I knewthat the Checklist would need refining first, because accessing themanual is not possible on the console, quite important when it's 100pages long. /images/notams/notams22/dcde0408/dcdesigns-3.jpgConcorde has been submitted to the Marketplace forprocessing. Please don't ask when it will be released, Microsoftdetermines that so I don't know the answer. It turns out that the Xboxconsole cannot handle the same models as PC, so there are a fewfeatures missing at the moment (just passenger models and a shorterpassenger cabin) until we can work out how to get them in withoutmessing up performance on the consoles. The F-15 Eagle and F-14 Tomcat updates will follow next. These areboth quite significant updates, especially the F-15 Eagles, so plentyto look forward to there. I'm hoping to have both completed andreleased by the end of April. For the rest of the year, there are some changes to myschedule. First, the bad news; due to recent events in Eastern Europe,I do not feel comfortable continuing with my SU-27 Flanker project. Asa result, this has been shelved until further notice. I know therewill be those who are unhappy about this, but it's my call and I won'tbe entering a debate about it with anybody. /images/notams/notams22/dcde0408/dcdesigns-2.jpgNow, the good news; the SU-27 will instead be replaced by anaircraft I know many are very keen to see in MSFS, the F4JPhantom. This version has been chosen as it also represents the UK'sFGR2 variant, expanding the potential for liveries. The Phantom wassecretly under development some months ago, but work halted when Ilearned that a fellow developer was keen to bring their Phantom toMSFS. However, I've since learned that they're working on a muchearlier variant and it's not due for a very long time, so this doesn'tclash much. The Phantom represents an immensely popular fighter jetthat has a huge following in the aviation world. No dates set yet forit, but work will now continue apace alongside the other mainprojects. Therefore, my 2022 / early 2023 release schedule is currently: AV-8B Harrier II - Summer 2022A-10C Thunderbolt II - Fall 2022F-4J Phantom - TBDThe P-61B Black Widow project will also continue ready for freewarerelease later this year if all goes well there, I work on it when Ican. 11. DC Designs Concorde Preview By thecorporatepilotdad DC Designs' Concorde for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Screen shots and video of the Concorde show off the exterior of the aircraft in a cinematic fashion. A cabin walk-through of the cabin precedes that galley and cockpit tour. The aircraft does reach Mach 2.0 and will fly at 60,000 feet under the right conditions. A climb schedule is show in the video and will be included in the 100+ page manual. The sounds are great, but the sounds in this video is from the DC Designs F-14. Custom Concorde sounds will be added on final release. Concorde is set to release on March 30th, 2022. 12. /images/notams/notams22/conc0314/concorde-1.jpgConcorde work continues with even more dials, knobs, buttons, switches and animated drums! We have now added the selector dials thatcontrol just how much fuel is transferred into which tanks each time, allowing fine control of Concorde's Centre of Gravity when inflight. This is not only important for obvious balance reasons, butalso for when using the automatic fuel-transfer system, for which itthen controls how much fuel to transfer each time to maintain theaircraft's balance without the user having to worry about it. /images/notams/notams22/conc0314/concorde-2.jpgThe hydraulic system is running well, with multi-selectable set-upsfor blue, yellow and green systems (although not all three will haveany effect on Concorde, they were there for redundancy purposes in thereal airplane ) and the electrical system is linked in with everythingelse. There is basically too much to list here so I won't bore you allwith it, it's enough to say that with the projection gauges now beingfinished off / refined, Concorde is finally fully functional, and workon the manual and final flight testing will begin next week. At thesame time, a single copy of Concorde will be sent to YouTuber andcommercial pilot CorporatePilotDad, who will perform the first previewof Concorde while also helping us to test her prior to the launchday. Further preview copies will then be released to selectedpreviewers in the days following. Those receiving preview copies havealready been contacted or had it confirmed that they will. 13. /images/notams/notams22/conc0307/concorde-3.jpgWelcome to the next development update covering the Concorde forMSFS. Here's a summary of where we are from Dean at DC Designs. Pleasenote all images are still WIP. Concorde is now reaching the point where all essential operationalsystems are active, and further extra features are being added in. The addition of interactive points such as jetway attachment, ground power, fuel trucks, baggage loading, boarding ramps and so on,have really bought Concorde to life. Both forward and aft baggagecompartments have been added and animate whenever baggage loading isrequested from ATC. Likewise, refuelling ports and the Ground PowerHatch open when those requests are made, with the relevant vehiclesarriving and connecting to fuel or power lines. /images/notams/notams22/conc0307/concorde-1.jpg /images/notams/notams22/conc0307/concorde-2.jpg /images/notams/notams22/conc0307/concorde-4.jpgFlight deck work continues with projection gauges and annunciator /circuit lights being coded for their correct purposes. The fuel systemis now complete, and matches the real Concorde's entire set up. Theelectrical and hydraulic systems are also in place. Full auto-pilotfeatures have all been added ( including max-climb, max-cruise andothers ) allowing full ILS landings and approaches to supportingairports. The flight model perfectly mirrors Concorde's real-lifeperformance throughout the flight envelope, and trans-Atlantic rangeis confirmed, wtih fuel burn matching the real Concorde closely. PBR is now applied to the main fuselage and engines, and textureartwork will continue to be improved over the coming weeks along withmuch of the interior modeling and detailing. The galley and passengercabin are all being worked upon, with finer detail being graduallyadded in. In addition, work is well underway on Concorde's full customsound-set, including those deafening Olympus engines. Release still on for this month so do stay tuned. And enjoy theselatest shots. Source

  15. /images/notams/notams22/conc0114/concorde-1.jpgHere's the first Development Update of the year direct from ourdeveloper DC Designs. Please note all shots shown are WIP. Concorde's flight deck is now starting to come alive as morefunctionality is added. All switches, knobs and buttons are now activewith coding being created to cover the huge array of functions forthis complex airplane. The engineer's station is now also fullyanimated. Textures are being applied and soon coding will begin on thehuge number of annunciator lights and other instruments, often uniqueto Concorde. /images/notams/notams22/conc0114/concorde-3.jpg /images/notams/notams22/conc0114/concorde-4.jpgWork has also been on-going with Concorde's flight model, whichalso requires many unique characteristics including supercruise. Themodel is nearing the flight-testing phase. While it already can fly inthe simulator and reach Mach 2, it does not yet do so in the correctway. Step climbs, centre-of-gravity balancing via fuel transfer, thrust and drag curves and a host of other features are being workedupon to ensure that Concorde flies as she did in real life. Theexterior model will receive further enhancements including weathering, improved PBR and continued modeling detail work as the projectprogresses. /images/notams/notams22/conc0114/concorde-2.jpgHope you enjoy these latest screen shots. 17. /images/notams/notams21/conc1017/concorde1.jpgBig decisions have been made during this week’s work on Concorde, mainly concerning the flight deck. In the FSX and Prepar3D version, I made a lot of modellingsacrifices in order to to maintain performance on older PCs that mightnot otherwise have been able to handle an aircraft with such a complexflight deck as Concorde’s. With MSFS, and especially with the recentperformance updates, this is no longer an issue and as a result thevast majority of the entire cockpit is now being re-modelled as wellas re-textured, to take advantage of the capabilities of the newsimulator. This means that considerable work will be carried out throughout interms of detail – instruments that were simplified before can bepresented in their full detail; screws, switches, cabling and otherdetails that were omitted can be built in, and of course the wholecockpit can now benefit from the use of full PBR materials which makesall the difference when it comes to realistic finishes. /images/notams/notams21/conc1017/concorde2.jpgAlthough I’d already decided to build more detail into the cockpit, the extra work I intend to carry out will push the release date backslightly as it’s a lot more work to take on, but this is Concorde andI know folks will want it to be as complete as possible. Theengineer’s station will feature a lot more detail than before in termsof functional systems and visual detail (as if it wasn’t complexenough already) and of course the cabin area will also be upgradedwith higher detail modelling and texturing. A few images attached – the one that will probably cause the mostexcitement is the cockpit. This is VERY early Work in Progress, but itshows the flight deck in place and ready for the upgrade modelling tobegin over the course of the coming month or more. I will post moredetail shots as things develop, so this image should be consideredvery much the starting point. /images/notams/notams21/conc1017/concorde3.jpgAround the external model, detail is gradually being added to theengine areas (which have been entirely re-textured to 4K) as well asmore research being done to add relevant details such as stencils, ground re-fuelling system, loading areas and so on. Finally, the P-61B has also had its textures re-mapped to 4K alongwith normal maps, and had a brief outing testing some of the newwork. Work continues there in my ‘spare’ time with steady progressbeing made. Source
  18. /images/notams/notams21/conc1010.jpgConcorde is for both PC and Xbox console (for those who keep asking!) This week, work has mostly been focused on Concorde’s externalmodel. To bring the airplane up to MSFS standards, most of theoriginal texture work has been stripped away and replaced with all-new4K texture maps, with much of the aircraft being UV-mapped anew totake advantage of the higher resolutions available. In addition, muchuse has been made of the decal system to produce high-res featuressuch as access panels, panel lines and (billions and billions) ofrivets. A combination of decals and normal maps make up the majority of therivet features across Concorde’s surfaces, which cover enormous areason the wings and remain a WIP at this time as I learn to betterintegrate decals with model surfaces. Higher detail maps have beencreated for the wheels and the undercarriage, and I’m experimentingwith the metal finish (PBR) there to recreate the flat aluminiumsurface, which is still a bit too shiny compared to the realairplane. The big Olympus engines were also entirely re-mapped andtextured at 4K, and work is on-going there to finish the maps beforeadding in some more model detail. Custom code is being transferred gradually across, controllingnewer functions such as the spill doors and engine bleed doors, fuelpanels and so on. The plan here is to have a reasonably completeexternal model ready in about two weeks’ time, before work shifts tothe interior. Once again, a complete re-map and PBR application willbe required, as well as the animation of all gauges, dials, switches, buttons etc. While the precise CIVA INS will not be included, we have decided tocreate a sort of hybrid INS / FCS system that will allow dual input ofeither Lat-Lon coordinates as well as intersections and standard GPS /MSFS flight plan data. This will give all users the options that theywill prefer, while keeping the visual appearance of the cockpit asclose as possible to the original Concorde. Work underway here andmuch experimentation with code on-going, but hopefully it will producesomething that works for pretty much everybody. Finally, work on the freeware / donation ware P-61B Black Widowcontinues with the airplane now fully re-mapped to 4K ready for hernew textures. A screen shot has been included showing the new maps inplay on the external model. Source
  19. /images/notams/notams21/dcd0920/concorde-1.jpgIn case anybody hadn't noticed, I'm now working on Concorde. First things first, though. Since the launch of the F-14 Tomcatsand the appearance of all of my aircraft on the Xbox console, thevolume of messages I receive has gone through the roof. I currentlyspend around one hour every morning replying to queries, questions, comments and other communications before I even get to think aboutworking on my aircraft. Obviously, this isn't really something that Ican maintain now to the degree that I have done the past few years. Asa result, I'm afraid that I will no longer be able to reply to everymessage and comment on my page, there are just too many now. Iwill of course answer as much as I can, but there are only so manyhours in the day and I suspect most of you would rather see me workingto bring my next project to MSFS than sitting here typing replies allday long. /images/notams/notams21/dcd0920/concorde-4.jpgWhich leads me neatly onto the current lead project. The conversionof my Prepar3D Concorde has been underway for quite a while now, aswhen chances have arisen I've updated the project as I learn moreabout MSFS. This means that, far from being started from scratch,Concorde is already in the simulator with most external animationsworking. In addition, as so much of Concorde is unique, custom codethat was created for many features in Prepar3D has carried overperfectly into MSFS. This head-start is what's allowing me to projecta pre-Christmas 2021 launch date for Concorde. AGAIN, EVERYTHING IS WIP. The images represent the aircraft withonly very basic PBR and the original normal maps, basically as she wasin Prepar3D. Much of the work over the next month or two will bebringing the modelling and texturing up to MSFS standard with the useof higher resolutions, new decals for stencils, panel lines andrivets, true PBR and so on. /images/notams/notams21/dcd0920/concorde-2.jpg /images/notams/notams21/dcd0920/concorde-3.jpgThere will be many questions about how detailed this rendition ofthe aircraft will be (just as there were with the Prepar3Dversion). First off, the visual detail will be much higher this timearound, as MSFS of course allows so much more to be done. The cockpitis being re-built and re-textured, the external model likewise in manyareas. The systems fidelity will be slightly higher than that found inthe Prepar3D version, mainly due to the fact that I understand moreabout coding now. Although fans of study-level aircraft will probablynot be enamoured with this level of detail, Concorde will feature allof the real aircraft's quirks just as the Prepar3D version did; fueltransfer for pitch trim, step-climb profile for cruise acceleration,nose-droop animations, highly realistic flight model with super-cruiseand more. The engineer's station will again be fully functional, although reduced in complexity as I want this Concorde to remainwithin everybody's reach. Custom sounds for the Olympus engines willaccompany the package, as well as color schemes for the mainoperators of Concorde. The paint kit, and a manual the size of arefrigerator, will also be there, but I am hoping to utilise thesimulator's Checklist feature so that new users can follow a checklistfor an *entire* Heathrow to JFK flight without having to reference aphysical or PDF manual - allowing console users to more easily learnhow to properly operate Concorde while actually flying her. Finally, the new model will make full use of the MSFS decal system,so all panel lines and rivets will become high-resolution decals alongwith all other markings. The model will utilise all the sim'slighting; brand-new passenger cabin modelling, and as much of the MSFSsupport animations (baggage loading, gates, fuel truck, ground power, effects, etc.) as I can make work with the aircraft to make it ascomplete as possible. Perhaps the only thing missing at launch will betrue afterburners, which are delayed now for MSFS until May 2022. Iwill use my existing custom afterburner system in their place (sameas that used on the F-15s and F-14s) until full support comes to thesim. The F-14 Tomcats have proved insanely popular with both PC andconsole users, and it's with that mixture of fidelity and fun in mindthat I'm moving forward with the Concorde project. Concorde will bewithin the reach of all flight sim fans, but will require some efforton the part of the user to get her from A to B accurately, the perfectbalance I hope between realism and entertainment. Concorde was not asimple aircraft to operate, and this rendition, like the Prepar3Dversion, will be complex enough to keep users on their toes. Enjoy these early shots taken of Concorde during assessment workthis week, as I began planning where to start on the upgrades. Much tobe done but, as with everything in MSFS, things already look farbetter than they did on the older platforms! Source
  20. /images/notams/notams21/dcde0509/dcdesigns-1.jpgThe F-15 updates are complete now, all except one tiny but hugelyfrustrating bug causing the nose wheel animation to “skipâ€. Despitebest efforts, the solution to this has not been found, and it mightpossibly be a bug in the SDK that is causing it (likely only forusers of Blender). This has not been confirmed as I write this, butin the absence of any other logical cause, it must be something withincode somewhere over which I have no control, as there are aircraftproduced with 3DS Max with oleo-wheel arrangements that don’t sufferthe same issue. As a result of this, the F-15 update will appear next week insteadas I’m hoping to find a way around the bug, possibly by writing my ownLvar for the nosewheel. That does however cause issues later down theline with any features in MSFS that are tied to the nosewheeltemplate, so I’d like to wait and see if Asobo can root out the causeof the issue or I can solve it myself. /images/notams/notams21/dcde0509/dcdesigns-2.jpgWith the F-15 updates otherwise complete, work continues on theStearman to prepare it for launch. The flight model and engine filesare complete, so it’s now down to finer-detail modelling and texturingwork, as well as adding new colour schemes. Custom sound is underwayover at Sim Acoustics, who have recorded true live sound from PT-17Stearman PH-TOX, so everything from the engine to the primer leverwill sound as it does on the real aircraft. The F-14 Tomcats are also of course being worked upon, although ata slower pace while the F-15s were being updated. From next week itwill be full-steam ahead on both projects as they head toward theirrespective launch dates. Finally, there is a single extra image in the screenshots for todayand no, it’s not a quick port but a shot of the properly convertedaircraft taken during a brief test flight two evenings ago to assesshow well the process is working. The assessment was that there will bea genuine major re-build of the aircraft to bring it up to MSFSstandard, so it’s going to be almost as big a project as the originalwas. Work will start after the Tomcats are released, probablytherefore somewhere in June / early July. /images/notams/notams21/dcde0509/dcdesigns-3.jpgSource Purchase DC Designs F-15 Eagle For MSFS, Prepar3D or FSX Purchase DC Designs Concorde for FSX/P3D

  24. /images/notams/notams20/dcde0919/concorde-1.jpgSo, this is the last Concorde update before the release! I'mdelighted to report that work on both the FSX and Prepar3D versions isnow complete, and that both packages are being sent off to Just Flightready for release. The conversion to FSX took a little longer thanplanned - not surprising really on an aircraft like Concorde - but I'malso happy to say that the FSX version retains the full functionalityof the Prepar3D version, and performs really well. /images/notams/notams20/dcde0919/concorde-2.jpgI will be taking a short break for a few days to regain my sanityafter such a long project, before picking things up again with theupdates to the Super Hornets package (bug fixes and PBR) before thenperforming the same work for the F-15 Eagles package. Once these twotasks are complete, I will begin conversions of all my aircraft intoMSFS, starting with the F-15 Eagles package (and yes, all versions ofall types will be converted as one package). Enjoy these pictures of Concorde in FSX, Prepar3D v4.5, and recentshots of Concorde and the F-15C in MSFS. /images/notams/notams20/dcde0919/dc-designs-1.jpg /images/notams/notams20/dcde0919/dc-designs-2.jpgETA: The Concorde package will contain both the FSX and P3Dversions, so if you're an FSX owner who wants to upgrade later to P3D,you'll already have the model for it.
