For the first time on IVAO,pilots can communicate and broadcast their intentions to assist withavoiding in-flight conflict by voice. Voice Unicom is the most anticipated addition to our network. It ispacked with authentic radio effects and behaviour enabling it to be arealistic digital simulation of radio communication. This introduction continues our aspiration to part ways with thehistoric TeamSpeak2 platform and the concept of joining a "channel" tocommunicate, becoming more and more of a distant past. Instead, thisexciting addition uses high-quality audio codecs that are fullyencrypted and accompany the already tried and tested Intercom andVoice ATIS systems on our in-house developed voice servers. When pressing your push-to-talk button, the voice serverdynamically computes the range of your aircraft radio and regulateswhich other aircraft are within range to receive yourtransmission. Within a few milliseconds, it can determine if twostations can communicate with each other using calculations andstandards published by the International Telecommunication Union andthe International Civil Aviation Organization. The ability to simulate the loss of radio signal through the air isone of the brilliant capabilities of Voice Unicom, but that is merelyone of many that has been incorporated. It also considers thecurvature of the earth and the ability that terrain has to distort orblock transmissions. We have stored the topography of every inch ofthe world in our voice servers, and using this data, the server cancalculate the level of distortion the terrain will have. Source

/images/notams/notams20/ivao0823.jpgAfter our teaser video, we released an article announcing that weare conducting the last stage of finalising and testing theintegration of our voice module with our clients. We are proud to inform you that we will release new versions ofboth IVAO Pilot Client: Altitude and IVAO ATC Client: Aurora with abrand-new voice integration on September 5th, 2020. Save the date! This release is of extreme importance as it will eliminate the needfor the standalone TeamSpeak 2 client, hence resolving severalcompatibility issues for our members. Most important, it pumps a superdose of realism into the IVAO Experience. The new IVAO Pilot Client: Altitude will come with built-in voicevolume controls on the interface, one for each COM. Our pilots willalso have access to additional sound settings that will allow them toselect their preferred audio input and output hardware and set theirPTT key. And evidently, we have added a special audio VHF effect(simulating real VHF Transmitters), such as realistic audio bandwidthand equalization, blocking of reception when current transmission isbroadcasting, push-to-talk clicks (end of transmission sound) andadditional background static noise. The new ATC Client: Aurora will also come with its own magic. Wehave already mentioned in a previous article that Aurora is beingdeveloped with the help of real-life ATC professionals, and it is ourgoal to make IVAO ATC Client the most realistic ATC Client in theentire flight simulation community. In fact, the integrated voice willbe working depending on ATC receivers, as we took samples and feedbackfrom real ATCs to create what we have now. This update of Aurora will also come with a highly requestedfeature called Ground Radar or also known as Map Rotation. Currently,all our sector files are oriented north. This ground radar featurewill allow members to rotate their map for their use. This will happen through a seamless transition, meaning that theIVAO Network will not experience any downtime. Pilots will have todownload the latest version of Altitude. ATC will have to uninstalltheir old client and download the new one. This update will not halt the compatibility of our legacysoftware. Our members who prefer to continue using IvAc and IvAp willstill be able to do so. Save the date, Saturday September 5th, 2020.
