/images/notams/notams21/q4xp1105.jpgLess than a week after initial release, developer FlyJSim hasalready released five patches for their Q4XP twin turbopropfor X-Plane. Each patch is just a set of fixes, there are no new featuresbeing offered as of yet. For those interested in keeping up to date on this rapidly evolvingaircraft, it appears that FlyJSim does not keep either their own web siteor their Facebook page up to date. The only up to date source seems tobe their Discord site. flyjsim.com Discord

/images/notams/notams21/jsim0907.jpgFlyJSim is proud to show off its Q4XP after three years of development. Coming soon for X-Plane 11. The De Havilland Canada DHC-8, commonly known as the Dash 8, is aseries of turboprop-powered regional airliners, introduced by deHavilland Canada in 1984. DHC was later bought by Boeing in 1988, thenby Bombardier in 1992; then by Longview Aviation Capital in 2019,reviving the de Havilland Canada brand. All Dash 8s delivered from the second quarter of 1996 (includingall Series 400s) include the Active Noise and Vibration Systemdesigned to reduce cabin noise and vibration levels to nearly those ofjet airliners. To emphasize their quietness, Bombardier renamed theDash 8 models as the Q-Series turboprops (Q200, Q300, and Q400). Source

SharedFlight 2021 Roadmap /images/notams/notams19/flyj0516.jpgHello everyone and Happy New Years! We wish good health and fortunefor you all in the new year! As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, we wanted toshare with you our current plans for development, and exactly what wehave been doing this past year. Our long pause silence has mainly beattributed to the unpredictability of life, but also the technicalchallenges we've been addressing with our fabulous Alpha testingteam. This upcoming year, we will be moving into beta relativelyearly. Not only will this be an extended time for bug and stresstesting, but it will also be an opportunity for you all to get handson for the first time. This is part of our first steps to reallyensure that we can change the way people fly, and take more of aninitiative to undertake multicrew flying. /images/notams/notams21/shar0103.jpgWe'll have tonnes of more posts for you this January! FlyJSim Developer Update - Q4XP UNS And Shared Flight Alpha
Nels_Anderson posted an article in X-Plane
/images/notams/notams20/jsim0802/jsim0802.jpgShared FlightWe’re getting closer! Over the past few months, we’ve beenundertaking private testing, making sure our server infrastructureholds up, and tailoring aircraft configurations to work as flawlesslyas possible. Some of you may recall signing up to our beta-signup sheet, andvoicing your opinions on what aircraft you want to see. /images/notams/notams20/jsim0802/shared-flight.jpgWe are happy to reveal a few more aircraft to you today that willbe available at the launch of beta testing! Bare in mind that this isnot the full launch list, and aircraft may be added. We’restill updating our list and listening to feedback and developers. Is Testing Available Yet?On the 29th July, we moved Shared Flight into an expanded Alpha. Afirst wave of invites were sent out for Discord users. We now haveover 70 users using the plugin, and we couldn’t be happier with theresponses. Our aim with Shared Flight is to have users trust theprocess. Flying with others shouldn’t be more complicated than flyingsolo. Not only do our alpha testers appear to be embracing thisconcept, but also taking to more challenging conditions they would nothave otherwise done so themselves. Q4XPQ4XP development continues at a swift pace. The biggest advancementin the last few months has been the UNS, which is being worked onferociously by Justin and Amy. The current version of the UNS thatwill ship in the Q4XP v1.0 is the UNS-1E with version 802/803. We havea few clips to show for the first time today. What makes the UNS different from the default FMC? For the firsttime, we’re actually "simulating" an FMS unit, and not just asuperficial unit designed to interface for route planning. Therefore, everything gets considered into the simulation. Sensors, electricalinput, approach handling, data handling is all a deep part of oursimulation. /images/notams/notams20/jsim0802/q4xp.jpgLet's take the sensors as an example, positional data input (eitherfrom GPS, GNS etc) makes use of Kalman filters. This is an algorithmdesigned to provide an estimate out of f multiple, random inputs. TheUNS can filter out statistical noise, and also make predictions in theabsence of data. Keep an eye on those RNP tolerances! Our UNS will simulate a level of electrical connection, and act asindependent units. Each unit is tied to an electrical input sourcefrom the aircraft. Once connected, each unit will compute at realistictimes. Loading screen times will variably change, changing pages comesat varying refresh rates, the display will even simulate a linear lagtime from top to bottom with a screen change. Because each unit can act independently, a separate communicationbus link must be simulated independent of both UNS units, and enablingcrossfill. Whilst the Q4XP ships as a dual UNS unit, the groundwork isin place for each unit to act in single configuration. And on the topic of independent control, how about independentdisplay control? Take charge of display brightness, power andposition. There’s a lot to talk about the Q4XP, and we can’t wait to sharefurther details with you next time! Setting ExpectationsWe’ve heard a lot of comments..for a comment on our developmentplans. To be simple and to the point, our plans have not currentlychanged, and our current lineup of products in development are forX-Plane only at this point in time. On the contrary, we welcome and respect companies that aim to pushthe boundaries of flight sim. We’ve been in this genre for many years, and we follow the work of many of our peers. Our ideals as a companyis for high quality simulation and as much of a care for our fans aspossible. It’s fantastic to see developers that subscribe to thatideal. The community is all the more stronger for it when it does! Source FlyJSim Introduces Shared Flight -
/images/notams/notams19/jsim1206/jsim1206.jpgWelcome to the Q4 Update. If double-blinked at that, you would beforgiven in thinking that we couldn't count to a certain number. We hope you have all enjoyed the past two quarters. As Christmas isaround the corner, we are keeping our heads down and continuing todevelop our products for X-Plane. Q4XPMany of you have kept up to date with news on the visual modellingside of things. A quick thank you to our partners at FSElite andThreshold for their enthusiasm and support in sharing those images. Weare pleased to show-off the final in-sim textures for the cockpit. /images/notams/notams19/jsim1206/q4xp.jpgWe've been very busy on this aircraft. The use of new techniquesfor texturing not only speeds up our workflow, but allows for a levelof dynamic and procedural texturing that was previously inaccessiblefor us. Some great examples of this include glareshield padding, thecorrect texture and bump mapping for cockpit seats, scratches on fireextinguishers and checklist clipboards. The aircraft just simply looksgorgeous. We are on the final phase of modelling, with just the cabin andcargo compartment areas remaining. We'll keep you all informed in theupcoming months. People have asked us about the state of systems in theaircraft. Every topic of the Q4XP has its time and place, but we thinkyou'll be excited by what we have in store. Some of you on our discorddid have a few glimpses of some spoilers. Remember, "Mum is theword." Shared FlightPeople have been eager for a status update for Shared Flight, andwe don't blame you. So why the long period of silence? We're extremelyhappy with our development of the current Shared Flight application, however based on user feedback and some of our own discussions, weknew that there was much more we could do to make the experience asenjoyable as possible for both our customers and aircraft developerpartners. So we've been working towards expanding on the developerbackend and pilot portal for Shared Flight. /images/notams/notams19/jsim1206/shared-flight.jpgThis new portal brings a curated and easy-author system forthird-party aircraft developers, whilst also bringing a much simplerprocess to account and flight management for our pilot users. Byhaving an intuitive interface, we will make multi-crew flying a muchmore accessible experience to everyone. As an example, we have a "fingerprint" system within SharedFlight. This allows us to detect aircraft and their respectiveversions in sim and make sure on the backend they are properly mappedto the correct aircraft, product, and Shared Flightconfiguration. Further, we have the ability to create configs that arein development or released, and to make development configs availableonly to developers or testers on an aircraft specific basis. The enduser will experience only well tested and well matched configs thatreliably work. Users will enjoy the ability to view flights on a moving map, andsee their flight histories, including participants in the flights andtheir hours logged as pilot flying, pilot monitoring, andpassenger. There is more functionality to the portal that we have not showntoday. But hopefully this will answer a few burning questions. We wantto communicate across the idea that Shared Flight will not just be astandard client for multi-crew operations, but also in part as acontinual and responsive service to our users. We will have more news for you in the first quarter of 2020. Withour decision to withhold beta-testing ultimately means our registeredparticipants will get a far more complete and enjoyable experience. Wewant to ensure we get this right, as flight-simulation is long overduetowards the transition of multi-crew operations. X-Plane 11.50As many of you know, 11.50 will be the Vulkan update. It isexpected that the OpenGL version of our products should continue torun. However, there will be a mandatory update in the upcoming monthsthat will be published (which we hope will ensure compatibility of ourproducts for the foreseeable future.) We will have more news on thishopefully soon. Just a short thank you all for your love and support over the year, it definitely keeps us going. We're feeling pretty excited for the future of flight-simulation. Source

/images/notams/notams19/flyj0801.jpgToday actually marks exactly 10 years to the date when our old Q400first took concept, which kickstarted FlyJSim. I think it is thereforefitting that the changeover to the Q400 legacy occurred today. We would like to stress this is NOT the Q4XP or Q400 V2/V3 or newQ (that comes much later). As mentioned in our previous update, theQ400 legacy is our way of handing off the aircraft before its eventualretirement to its newer brother. Some astute people will have noticedsome of the changes we uploaded yesterday, but here is a quickrundown. Updated to 11.35+ flight model. Now with increased drag and better handlingFixed engine start-up. This was an issue caused by system changes in 11.30 and should be back to the regular start-up procedurePhysically Based Rendering textures. Exterior textures should now have a more believable glossiness and metalness effect.Menu graphics updatedManual graphics updatedPFD colours changed. Should be much more vibrant to the eye.Startup sound volume reducedWe expect this to be the last update for the aircraft, and *should ensure it remains in a flyable state for the remainder of the X-Plane 11 life-span. We would like to thank all of you for putting up with us as we continue developing on the Q4XP. Oh and one final mention, the Rainman patch is currentlyprogressing towards the end of its beta testing cycle, and should becoming along fairly soon. *We say "should" in regards to updates beyond 11.35+. However wehave no idea how X-Plane vulkan, or any flight-model/systems changeswill affect all add-ons in the future. A great step towards securingthe future of X-Plane, but also a case-scenario why we stronglyadvocate for flight-model versioning in the future. We want to keepyou flying aircraft without compatibility issues. Source

/images/notams/notams19/flyj0527/flyj0527.jpgLet us tell you a story first. The Q400 was the original FlyJSimaircraft created for X-Plane flight simulator. Conceived over 9 yearsago, the aircraft has been responsible for the journey and communitythat we have today. From the developers on the FlyJSim team, to all ofour fans who have stuck out for us for a long time. We wouldn't knowwhere we would be today without this aircraft... and without you. Itonly makes sense that we start producing aircraft that is going tolead us into the decade, and produce the best Q400 we can possiblydeliver! /images/notams/notams19/flyj0527/q4xp-1.jpgWith that goal in mind, we can announce that the exterior artworkof the Q4XP is now complete, we are pleased to reveal to you the finalart direction of the aircraft. The work you see before you is theresult of months of hard-work, as we try to push the visualcapabilities of what is possible in X-Plane 11. /images/notams/notams19/flyj0527/q4xp-2.jpgWe also think visuals are louder than words, so we've put out these4K images for you to keenly stare and observe all the detail. Takeparticular attention to the hand-crafted surface detail. Every rivet, screw and streak of dirt has been painstakingly made in full 4Ktexture maps. /images/notams/notams19/flyj0527/q4xp-3.jpgWe hope you have enjoyed this preview of the aircraft, and we willbe back with more information for our annual Q2 update. /images/notams/notams19/flyj0516.jpgFlyJSim is proud to announce our next product that bringsmulti-crew pilot operations to flight-simulation as seamlessly aspossible and aiming to support all popular and quality aircraft inX-Plane. Flight simulation has seen amazing improvements in the past 25+years with improved scenery, flight dynamics, and aircraft complexityand simulation depth. But even as the aircraft have gotten morecomplex and more accurate, flying them has been largely an isolatedexperience. Not only is it unrealistic to fly a complex aircraft byyourself, it is far more fun to share in the experience. A crew cantake on greater challenges, have better results, and far more funwhile doing it! Sitting in the cockpit of the FlyJSim 727 SeriesProfessional V3 and looking around, its daunting to handle piloting, navigation, communication, and monitor engineering station systems.Especially while flying complex procedures or handling irregularoperations! We feel this is not a realistic experience, and worse, itis just way less fun than flying the plane with your buddies. Realworld pilots spend a long time getting to know their planes, but oneof the joys of flight simulation is learning new aircraft. Flying anew aircraft with a friend, or learning from someone with a few loggedhours in the plane, is a really great way to learn and experience newplanes. Shared Flight aims to enable multi-person crews and flights in aseamless shared cockpit experience. It seeks to eliminate massive painpoints with existing solutions that have so far discouraged peoplefrom enjoying a shared cockpit experience. A client-server modeleliminates firewall and P2P networking issues. Terrain mesh andscenery differences are smoothly accommodated. And aircraft will beactively supported by the Shared Flight team so that users will neverhave to manage, make, or distribute their own "config" files, norwonder why things just don't work. Throttle and controls can be handedoff between pilots effortlessly, so that one person can fly thedeparture and another the arrival, or different legs of a longhaul. Source
