Fly With That One Pilot Chick #6 by Ron Blehm FLY WITH THAT ONE PILOT CHICK would like to thank the ever-supportive FS community for encouraging her in her real-world flying. She also wants to thank those actually reproducing her flights and sending those in as they provide some valuable insight and education for all pilots. Premise This feature allows all of the FS fanatics to fly along (virtually) with THAT ONE PILOT CHICK on her real-world flying adventures. She flies the real planes, you fly the sim and send me your videos and screen shots. You can see more on her Instagram page: @thatonepilotchick Update Solo Flight = CHECK Skyhawk Certified = CHECK Private License = CHECK IFR Rating = CHECK Piper Arrow Certified = CHECK Commercial Rating = CHECK Accepted to the future pilot program at a major carrier CFI Rating = SOON Into KMMV Dan: Thomas and Melo (plus): Flight Six Longer flight this time, I hope you are up for the challenge! Month = October Time = Morning Weather = 58°F ---> 66°F, Winds Calm Clouds Widely Scattered and Clearing Depart KALW runway 20 and turn right heading 243°. At the VOR turn south heading 165° and continue 87 miles into Redmond (KRDM) where the high temps are 40°F and wind is out of the west at 8 knots. Good luck! Fly With That One Pilot Chick #5 by Ron Blehm Premise This feature allows you FS fanatics to fly along (virtually) with THAT ONE PILOT CHICK (an FAA-certified, IFR pilot) on her real-world flying adventures. (Just moved to a new aircraft). Confessions THAT ONE PILOT CHICK is actually my daughter and while she flies the real planes, we're asking you to fly the same thing on your sims and send me your videos and screen shots so that we can all share in the adventures of flight. You can see more on her Instagram page: @thatonepilotchick Catch-Up In feature three, THAT ONE PILOT CHICK relocated to SE Washington State and user Melo gave us this beautiful overview of the area: Feature number four got us some night ratings with a tour around Central Washington State and here is my own FS preview of that night flight: Okay, a lot fewer FS pilots trying this but I grant you that flying the sim at night is rough! Because things are hard to see at night, we did not get to see the Boeing 737MAX storage area so I've included a couple of real-world photos from THAT ONE PILOT CHICK. YOU GUYS at night: Dan made the flight but, because it was night, the photos were too hard to see. Melo Thomas Flight Challenge Five At the last minute I have changed this feature! My birthday is in early August so THAT ONE PILOT CHICK made all of the arrangements and flew from KALW into KPDX. If you'd like to do that flight, please do! From KPDX we departed to the east and then turned to heading 200°. As you fly over downtown P-Town you'll be more like 150° and then near 2OG3 or 07OR you'll turn to heading 220° and make a straight in approach to KMMV runway 22. What's the big deal about a short fight? One, some other real-world friends surprised me with a meet-up/fly-in and two, MMV is a short walk from ... Evergreen Museum, home of the infamous Spruce Goose and SR-71 and some airworthy classics like a Texan, a DC-3 and B-17 and many others! I hadn't been to the museum in over ten years and it was really great to meet up with old friends. We departed KMMV runway 35 and then turned east for a scenic tour and some maneuvering drills. Near 4S9 we turned north over Oregon City and the Willamette Falls, then east again towards Mt. Hood! Finally we crossed KTTD and flew the ILS into 28R at KPDX again. Video preview: Your Job As noted above, fly this in your sim. Please take screen shots and videos to share with this group next time. Those should be e-mailed to: cubflounder@gmail.com Please follow our real-world pilot on Instagram: @THATONEPILOTCHICK Ron Blehm

Fly With That One Pilot Chick by Ron Blehm Premise This feature allows you FS fanatics to fly along (virtually) with THAT ONE PILOT CHICK (an FAA certified, IFR pilot) on her real-world flying adventures. She flies the real planes, you fly the same thing on your sims and send me your videos and screen shots and then we can all share in the adventures of flight. Here's a late-comer from feature number two: Review Feature number three was an introduction to the Walla Walla, WA area where THAT ONE PILOT CHICK is continuing her flight adventures (currently working on cross-country hours for her commercial ratings. Here's my real-world / FS combo video: You Guys On #3 We've heard back from the following: Gerard and Tom: Dan: Scott: Flight Challenge Four One of the things a real-world pilot must do is to fly at night. That is this challenge for us. Set weather to summer, daytime temps in the 90s (F), overnight temps in the 60s (F) and clear skies with no "weather". Set departure location to KALW runway 2 and departure time to 30 minutes after sunset (aka night). This time we'll depart KALW northbound and turn left heading 278° (or so) to KPSC. You can land or touch-and-go. A "fun" challenge suggested by THAT ONE PILOT CHICK is to set runway lights OFF until you are on final. Next, turn north to heading of 335° and fly to KMWH at Moses Lake. Interesting fun-fact, there are "hundreds" of Boeing 737MAXs stored here but we'll never know that because it's night time! Finally, turn back to heading 130° and return to KALW. This should get you at lease a couple hours of night flying time which you'll need for your FAA certifications. Fly With That One Pilot Chick by Ron Blehm Premise What we have asked you flight-sim fanatics to do, is to virtually join, THAT ONE PILOT CHICK, on her real-world flying adventures. As you replicate her flights on your simulators, we ask you to post the videos / screen shots on YOUR YouTube and share the link with us, or you can send your screen shots / videos to me and I'll share those when our next feature is published. This way, we can all share our own sim-world experiences as THAT ONE PILOT CHICK flys around the scenic Pacific Northwest. Review Feature number two was a tour of the Portland, Oregon and Willamette River areas which THAT ONE PILOT CHICK did some years ago actually. For the simmers, we heard from: Dan24J Emile Melo Scott Click on their names to view their videos. I've combined the next three together: Gerard Guichard, Michael Cowan and Thomas Oftedal Update THAT ONE PILOT CHICK has moved / relocated to KALW and will be basing her flying from that location. It is east of the Cascade Mountain range and a bit more arid than the Coastal / Portland areas but will provide us some great, scenic flying. Also, a real-world update: THAT ONE PILOT CHICK has now passed all of her FAA requirements for IFR so she is now an instrument rated private pilot which will expand what she can do and will allow us more adventures. Next up: Commercial Rating in a more advanced aircraft! Flight Three For this flight, we simply want to get to know the new area around Walla Walla, WA. Set Time and Season to a lovely spring day, scattered high clouds, temps in the mid-70s (F) with south winds variable 8-12 knots. We will depart in our little Cessna from KALW runway 20 and continue south, heading 201°, to KPDT. You can land or simply touch-and-go through Pendleton and once clear of the airport area, turn north heading 338° into KPSC. From Pasco, you'll head about 080° back into a right-hand pattern for KALW. Easy! We were cruising at around 4500 feet. Check out this combo FS and Real-World video: Your Job As noted above, please take screen shots and videos to share next time. Those can be e-mailed to: cubflounder@gmail.com You can also follow our real-world pilot on Instagram: @thatonepilotchick Ron Blehm

Fly With That One Pilot Chick by Ron Blehm Review This feature is based on the flight experience of a young, real-world pilot in Washington State. She is an FAA-Certified Private Pilot working on IFR and Commercial ratings. I thought that it may be fun for you all to join in as a real-world pilot works her way through flight adventures and more advanced ratings. Every few weeks I will share one of "That One Pilot Chick's" real-world flights and ask that you all repeat the flight in your flight simulator. You can either post the video / pictures on YOUR YouTube and share the link or you can send your screen shots / videos to me and I'll post it with links on our next feature. Last time we flew from Scappoose to Pacific City in Oregon and while several commented that "this should be fun", very few sent in any information. User RUPERT filed his report as a comment to the original post and I've shared a little summary video of some others' screen shots here: Now, a little disclaimer ... "That One Pilot Chick" is already FAA-Certified and is working on cross-country and IFR hours; we are not to that point yet. I can promise you (as long as this feature is in demand) that we will offer longer and more challenging flights as time goes on and who knows how far aviation will take our real-world pilot? We'll have to keep flying our simulators along with her and see what the future brings. Flight Two Flight two is a scenic tour of the Portland Oregon area. Set your season to SUMMER and use the default FAIR WEATHER setting. As we did last time, we'll depart northbound from Scappoose (KSPB) and once through 4,000 feet we'll turn right heading 081° and pass directly over the BTG VOR. A slight heading tweak to 115° will pass us over 1W1 and then we'll continue south (heading 161°) to KTTD. You're welcome to land here or continue on to 42OR and then 4S9 before turning north and following the Willamette River over 2OG3 and past downtown before returning to KSPB runway 33. Fly With That One Pilot Chick by Ron Blehm I know a young pilot in Washington State. She is an FAA-Certified Private Pilot working on IFR and Commercial ratings. As she works through her flights and ratings, I thought that it may be fun for you all to join in on her adventures. I am NOT a GA pilot (I'm barely a sim pilot at all) but I did one of her night flights here: Proposal: Every few weeks I will share one of THAT ONE PILOT CHICK's real-world flights and ask that you all repeat the flight in your FS. You can either post the video / pictures on YOUR YouTube and share the link or you can send your screen shots / videos to me and I'll post it with links on our next feature. Thoughts: ONE: You all can join in as a real-world pilot works her way though the learning and aviation / type-rating process. TWO: You can share your own experiences here with other simmers. THREE: I'll share real-world photos and videos from around the Pacific Northwest and you all can share sim-world photos and videos of your flights to the same locations. Flight One: I can't be sure that this is where That One Pilot Chick got started with loving aviation but one of her first-ever flights was from Scappoose Oregon (KSPB) to Pacific City (KPFC). Depart KSPB to the north and once through 5,000 feet turn left heading 228° and fly to the coast. We used 3S7 as a waypoint before turning south (heading 185°) and making a left pattern approach into KPFC runway 32. After enjoying lunch at the beach you can return to KSPB. As noted, please take screen shots and videos to share next time. Ron Blehm E-mail: cubflounder@gmail.com Instagram: that.one.pilot.chick
