Runway21 has VOR-DME, NDB and ILS CATII, runway 03 due to the proximity of ahigh mountain has no instrumental aid, so approaches to this runwayare completely visual. The scenary has a detailed and realistic representation of thepassenger terminal, all its buildings and hangars, the marks, numbersand parking spaces are placed by hand according to real life. El Altet airport opened on 4 May 1967, replacing the olderaerodrome La Rabassa that had served Alicante since 1936. It took itsname after the El Altet area (a part of Elche's countryside) where itwas built. The first commercial flight that landed at the airport wasa Convair Metropolitan by Aviaco.
