Bad news, it has been replaced now with a dark lowresolution version. /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns1.jpgRonaldsway airport started live in the early 1930 and there wereflights to a number of different parts of the British mainland fromits grass runways. World War Two saw Ronaldsway being requisitioned bythe RAF in June 1940 to allow No 1 Ground Defence Gunners School tomove in and was renamed RAF Ronaldsway. It changed in 1944 when HMSUrley came into being and had as its main task torpedo bomberreconnaissance, mainly operating Fairey Barracudas. After the war itwent back to civil flights, but remained in Admiralty possession until1948, when it became the main airport for the island. The naval four runway layout survives in place, allowing forextensions and exapansion; although a typical four storey Navalcontrol tower from that period has now been demolished. Manyhistorical relics relating to the Isle of Man’s airfield history canbe found at the excellent Manx Aviation and Military Museum at theairport. /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns2.jpg /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns3.jpgIn March 2000 the new extension was opened, providing a newlandside catering outlet, arrivals area, baggage hall, and departurelounge. In April 2008 Tynwald granted a major runway extension andresurfacing project at the airport. The runway will be extended by245m out into the Irish sea Today main operators at Ronaldsway areEasyjet and Loganair. Our new system takes advantage of the sloping terrain technology inMSFS. we now have sloping runways and airports. No more will we haveto put up with flat unrealistic airports. You can see the undulationin the runway and even experiences changes apron and taxiwayslopes. The scenery utilises many of the new MSFS features, including theirairport and approach light models. The MSFS Vegetation system is usedwhere possible to populate the airfield with grass, trees andscrubs. /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns4.jpg /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns5.jpg /images/notams/notams21/uk2k0627/ns6.jpgFor more details and screenshots, please see webpageIsle Of Man 2021.

EGNS Isle of ManPublisher: Boundless Simulations Review Author: Paul MortSuggested Price: $14.99/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.png /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-04.jpgHello and welcome to another X-Planescenery review. This time around we will be looking at BoundlessSimulations rendition of Isle of Man Airport; their very first paywarescenery. The Isle of Man also known as Ellan Vannin in Manx is aself-governing British Dependency, situated in the Irish Sea betweenGreat Britain and Ireland and is rich in history, as human habitationwas established there around 6500 BC. The AirportAlso known as Ronaldsway, the airport is located in the south ofthe island near Castletown, about 6 nautical miles southwest ofDouglas, the island's capital. /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-01.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-02.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-03.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-05.jpgInstallationInstalling the product could not have been easier, as all I had todo was place the extracted folder into my X-Plane Custom Sceneryfolder. DocumentationThe package includes a brief PDF containing an introduction, installation details, a note on known issues, details of futurereleases and finally the contact details for Boundless Simulations ifrequired. Initial Look AroundNote: all screen shots in this review were taken with Orbx TrueEarth GB installed. My initial view of the airport was highly favorable, with a lot ofdetail used in the textures of both the buildings and aircraft. Anice feature of this airport is the animated service vehicles whichreally helped bring the airport to life. All too often this feature isomitted/neglected by developers, so it was highly welcomed. /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-06.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-07.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-08.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-09.jpgA standout feature of the airport is its Art Deco passengerterminal building, and you'll be glad to know that this has beenrecreated in X-Plane in high detail. The airport's car park is populated by well made 3D vehicles, butit was a shame there were not more of them, as in certain places, theortho imagery of the car park showed through. Another thing I noticed, like many sceneries I have reviewed, wasthe complete lack of any 3D people. It was a shame none were present,as in my my view, it really helps bring a scenery to life...especiallya busy airport such as this one. Looking around the scenery, and I'd have to say that on the whole, building textures were above average, especially at this price range! There was also a considerable amount of airport clutter located aroundthe airport, which again, really helped bring the airport atmosphereto life. In my experience, it is small detailed items like this whichmake all the difference to a scenery. For someone who enjoys exploringevery nook and cranny, I really appreciate things like this, so welldone Boundless Simulations! /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-10.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-11.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-12.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-13.jpgGoing further afield, and it was nice to see that the developer hadincluded the airport's fire house down near the shore. By the look ofthings, this was completely custom made and included the practicefuselage. Another feature of the scenery I appreciated was the custom madefoliage dotted around the airport. The texturing of both the trees andbushes was of good quality and again really helped polish the sceneryoff. Both the runway and taxiway areas exhibited good texturing andappropriate markings, and there was a degree of weathering to be seentoo. Night lighting is done reasonably well. As well as the mainairport lights, there are also lit windows for the majority of thebuildings, plus some of the signs. The animated vehicles have bothhead and tail lights which are also illuminated at night. /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-14.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-15.jpgPerformanceUsing the new Vulkan API (not the standard OpenGL we've all come toknow), I managed to achieve roughly 60 FPS at most parts of thescenery, which...considering my system specs (see below), was prettygood I thought. Windows 10 64 bitIntel Core i5 - 3350PCPU @ 3.1 GHz16 GB RAMNVIDIA GTX1050 TiAt no time did I experience stuttering or slowing down. Boundless Simulations aim as mentioned in their blurb isto "Bring immersive and high quality scenery to X-Plane 11, but ata much more reasonable price", and I am happy to report that thisairport is indeed immersive, and of high quality. So what about theprice? Well, the cost of the package from Boundless Simulations atthe time of writing this review is US $14.99, GB £11.51, AUS$20.71. So is that reasonable? Yes...I think so! /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-16.jpg /images/reviews/bounegns/t/boundless-isle-of-man-egns-17.jpgConclusionConsidering this airport is Boundless Simulation's first foray intopayware scenery, I must say I am very impressed! The quality of workon offer, for the price asked, is excellent in my book, and well worthconsidering. When you factor in the custom made objects, the excellentperformance, plus the location, then I really think you are on to awinner! Well done Boundless Simulations. See you next time. /images/reviews/bounegns/boundless-isle-of-man.jpgRegards Paul Mort Purchase Boundless Simulations - EGNS Isle of Man Airport Browse other Boundless Simulations add-ons

/images/notams/notams18/eart0801.jpgPlans Channel Islands ReduxAugust 1st, 2018 - Toowong, Australia: Orbx Simulation Systems hasrecently purchased all digital assets from Earth Simulations Ltd,which ceased trading in 2015. Over the coming year, the Orbx team will be developing completelyrefreshed versions of their popular Channel Islands and Isle of Mantitles for Prepar3D, Aerofly FS2 and X-Plane 11. Orbx CEO John Venema today said "This is a great result for boththe former users of Earth Simulations and also the Orbx community.. Ithas been a desire of mine for some years to carry Darren and Vicki'sbenchmark scenery titles forward and give them a new lease oflife." The sceneries will be split into four products: AlderneyGuernseyJerseyIsle of ManEach will be priced competitively based on their land mass andfeatures, and all will be completely rebuilt from the ground up usingfreshly licensed imagery from 2015 and 2016. We will add a vastselection of Orbx library objects and completely overhaul theperformance of the autogen and models in order to providestate-of-the-art destinations for simmers. John added, "Our colleagues at Turbulent Designs have been taskedwith these projects for FSX and P3D and I am confident their team willproduce a rock solid set of products." Following the FSX/P3D releases, the scenery will be ported to XP11and AFS2 and the usual 40% cross-platform discount will apply for Orbxcustomers. Because this project has involved a substantial investmentin new imagery, contractor, and other license fees there will be nofree upgrades for previous owners of the ES versions of these islandsfrom 2015 and earlier. These titles will be exclusively available fromOrbxDirect. Darren Vincent - the former director of Earth Simulations - saidtoday, "I'm very pleased that Orbx have taken custody of our work andwill give it a new lease of life across these simulator platforms. Iam sure our previous ES customers will embrace this redux of oursceneries which we are very proud to have made back in the day. I wishJohn and his team all the best with their plans!" John concluded with "We will make use of the many digital assetsthat are available from the ES files, which you will see in productslike TrueEarth Great Britain and elsewhere." The first channel island to be released will be Alderney forFSX/P3D which you can expect within the next 3-4 months. Previews willbe shown once it has entered into beta testing. Source
