ADDED – Weekly vegetation for July to Automated Dynamic Seasons containing expanded vegetation color changes. ADDED – New content for Enhancements, Northeast Australia Coastal Region. What is REX AccuSeason?AccuSeason is a modern, feature-rich application containing a largecollection of seasonal presets and vegetation configuration optionsthat display seasons globally. In addition, you can select treeheight, deciduous tree canopy type and color tone! In AUTOMATION MODE, REX automatically displays tree colors based oncurrent date and flight location! Our dynamic automation tech displaysfoliage based on current date and automatically changes tree colorsthroughout the year with weekly tree color changes during autumn intowinter in the northern hemisphere. Dynamic AutomationAutomated Dynamic Seasons provides an accurate representation offoliage as it changes within each season throughout the year. Watchtree colors change as they progress through the season, such as weeklychanges during the northern hemisphere's Autumn to Winter andbi-weekly or monthly changes during other times of the year. Allautomatic as the app applies foliage colors based on current date andrequires no user interaction! You may also manually select any prioror future time periods. For example, if it is late Autumn and you wantto fly in an early Autumn, you can select that time period and fly inearly Autumn foliage. Multiple PresetsWith REX AccuSeason, you get a large amount of realistic andvisually pleasing presets to use in your simulator. Every season hasmultiple unique presets with more to be added in future updates. Global SeasonsSeasons are represented globally, with the season in the northernhemisphere opposite of the season in the southern hemisphere. You canfly from New York in autumn and arrive in Buenos Aires with springvegetation. Or fly out of Sydney in Australia's winter and arrive inSeattle with summer vegetation. Updates to Regional VegetationMany areas in the world have been updated to reflect vegetationmore accurately. Conifer trees have been replaced in Iceland with moreapplicable vegetation. A large central part of the United States hasbeen updated to display deciduous trees rather than a large coniferforest. Palm trees have been added to many cities where before therewere none. New biomes have been created to depict steppe, tundra, Australianscrublands, New Zealand vegetation, and different coniferregions. Updating regional vegetation is a large and ongoing effortand many more improvements will be made in the future as we continueto develop further. Winter Deciduous TreesMicrosoft Flight Simulator snow gives us attractive winterlandscapes. To move to the next level, REX AccuSeason offers OURrendition of deciduous winter trees for all areas where the simulatordepicts deciduous trees and the winter season applies. These treesshow significantly less leaves and look great in winter landscapeswith or without snow. WEATHER FORCE IS THE NEW METAR-BASED DYNAMIC REAL-TIME WEATHERENGINE FOR MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATORBy utilizing inter-process communication with the simulator viafine granular control, you will experience automated, dynamic, andsmooth weather transitions from real-world reporting metarstations. /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/wf2at.jpgWeather Force also includes a wide range of proprietary dynamic, changing (non-static) weather scenarios. These scenarios are unlikethe static weather presets that ship with Microsoft FlightSimulator. WITH REAL-TIME METAR DATA AS THE FOUNDATION, THE WEATHER FORCEWEATHER ENGINE PROVIDES A MORE REALISTIC WEATHER EXPERIENCE. The metar data is updated 6x an hour and downloaded directly from NOAA and can provide accurate results within a 1/8th mile of a given point.Weather Force utilizes uniquely built algorithms to combine both metar and model data to cover sparse areas such as deserts and oceans. The GFS (Global Forecast System) Model data is downloaded twice daily from NCEP and provides key atmospheric conditions to give a snapshot of temperature and winds aloft. /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/compare-2t.jpgREMARKABLY UNIQUEWeather Force reads remarks provided with live metar reports todetermine if storms are near the aerodrome. Thus, even if theautomated metar may indicate clear conditions, if remarks indicatestorms nearby, storms will be generated near the reporting station asin real life. /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/compare-1t.jpgPOWERFUL WEATHER SEARCHIf you are looking to fly at a particular location or in certainweather conditions, Weather Force includes a handy weather searchfeature that allows you to search by airport or by weathercriteria. Dynamic Changing Weather Scenarios (DCWS)To add even more interest, Weather Force comes with dynamicchanging weather scenarios (DCWS). These weather scenarios aredynamic, unlike the static default presets in Microsoft FlightSimulator. These Weather Force weather scenarios dynamically changeover time and provide various elements of changing weather over thecourse of your flight. Examples provided below of includedscenarios: Fair weatherApproaching cold frontApproaching warm frontHot and humid summerLake effect snowsWinter stormCrisp winterBreezySpring showers /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/wf3t.jpg /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/wfg7t.jpgBecause DCWS are centralized on the REX servers, REX canperiodically add new and exciting scenarios, which will beautomatically added to your application without the need to updateWeather Force. Tracking The WeatherIn Weather Force you have the ability to easily track your 10favorite airports, therefore, clearly identifying what the detailedweather is like at each. If you require a more detailed report, simplyclick on the ICAO and receive in-depth data about the airport weatherconditions. /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/wfg4t.jpg /images/notams/notams20/rex0927/wfg5t.jpgBEHIND THE SCENESThe GoalWith Microsoft Flight Simulator, we have been provided a powerfulweather system as a start. The goal is to provide an even more robustweather environment. The REX developers have worked diligently torender the weather as it should be, yet stay true to the validity ofreal-world metar data. Smoothing MechanismIn addition, the REX developers have carefully added a smoothingmechanism to the engine to gradually smooth and transition the weatherover time between updates. Of course, you have complete control overthe weather update factors as well as transition speed. Continued and Consistent DevelopmentThe REX developers are dedicated to continuously develop and updateWeather Force as new API¡¯s become available from Asobo and Microsoft, thus they have developed an implementary system to deliver programupdates quickly and easily to you. Our data can provide accurate results within a 1/8th mile of agiven point.Utilizes uniquely built algorithms to combine bothA metarA andmodel data to cover sparse areas such as deserts and oceans. The GFS (Global Forecast System) Model data is downloaded 2x a dayfrom NCEP and provides key atmospheric conditions to give a snapshotof temperature and winds aloft.Beyond The DataWeather Force reads remarks provided with live METAR reports todetermine if storms are near the aerodrome. Thus, even if theautomated METAR may indicate clear conditions, if remarks indicatestorms nearby, storms will be generated near the reporting station asin real life. Powerful Weather Search If you are looking to fly at a particular location or in certainweather conditions, we have included a handy weather search featurethat allows you to search by airport or by weather criteria. Dynamic Changing Weather ScenariosTo mix things up and add more interest, we have supplied dynamicchanging weather scenarios (DCWS). "Dynamic" is key about our weatherscenarios in that they are not static like the default presetweather inside Microsoft Flight Simulator. Weather Force scenariosdynamically change over time. A weather scenario will provide variouselements of changing weather over the course of yourflight. Examples provided below of included scenarios: Fair weatherApproaching cold frontApproaching warm frontHot and humid summerLake effect snowWinter stormCrisp winterBreezySpring showersBecause DCWS are centralized on our servers, we can periodicallyadd new and exciting scenarios, which will be automatically added toyour application without the need to have to update Weather Force. Each of the 3000+ 3D cloud model structures were developed incomparison to their real-world counterpart. We have added NEW clouds types, including; altocumulus, stratocumulus, humilis, mediocris, congestus, tower cumulus, cumulonimbus calvus, supercell and rainshaft, tornado, stratus, nimbostratus, altostratus and cirrus class. Real-world cloud modelsystem including (but not limited to) cloud streets, super cells, wallclouds, funnel, shelf, rain shaft and tornadoes. Restructured cloud SDK for true formation realism. No moreupside-down clouds in bizarre and unrealistic positions, or cloudbases that are presented with repeating patterns. Single-session cloud texture variation, allowing more varietyduring a flight session, increasing the overall realism. The new cloud system models storm structures reaching 70,000feet. We also modeled the base of our storm clouds and added rainshafts to calvus and incus cumulonimbus clouds of various intensities, adding to the realism. Also included are wall and shelf clouds, and insome circumstances, these will include funnel clouds and tornadoes ofvarious shapes and sizes. /images/notams/notams18/rex0102/rex2.jpgReal-Time Weather EngineIntelligent weather engine that harnesses over 70,000 points ofweather data globally. 24. REX 5 - Environment ForcePublisher: REX SimulationsReview Author: MrYorkiesWorldSuggested Price: $32.95/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.pngIntroductionREX Simulations are at it again with their well-known sim-changingtools and utilities - this time they've added even morecustomizability with their release of the new REX 5 - EnvironmentForce. With the ability to change sim shaders mid-flight, with no need tostop what you're doing to make changes, Environment Force really doesadd another level of flexibility to sim customization and put morepower in the hands of flight simmers. From water details to cloud models - all the options to create yourperfect scenario are now at your fingertips, courtesy of the handysliders and the advanced in-sim menu. Not only this, but EnvironmentForce takes it one step further in providing you with a synchronizedweather engine - injecting changes to the sim whenever they happen inthe real world. I've always been a huge fan of REX products, and I'm excited tohave gotten my hands on this new piece of kit courtesy ofFlightSim.Com. Interface / Ease of Use /images/reviews/rex5ef/t/rex5-environment-force-03.jpgWhen I first opened Environment Force, I was expecting to see adifferent interface than the same old design of other REX productslike SkyForce and Texture Direct, etc., however the interface stillworks great regardless, and that's the main thing. The initial screen asks you if you'd like to work in AutomationMode, or in Manual Mode. Automation mode being where you can allowEnvironment Force to automatically control the environment visualssuch as clouds and lighting, etc. or Manual mode being where you havethe ability to manually tweak each and every one of the differentsettings to your liking. I prefer to use Manual mode when using Environment Force -Active Skydoes a great job of controlling the weather for me, so I prefer toleave that as is, but you can choose whichever option is best for yourneeds. The sliders in the interface are extremely handy. If you're like meand have multiple monitors, you can drag Environment Force over toyour second screen and adjust things in the sim without the maininterface blocking your view, but the program also has an advancedtweaking menu which can be accessed by clicking the small REX logo inthe bottom-left side of your screen when Environment Force isrunning. A small gripe of mine is the small REX logo I mention above. Itworks great and it's a handy tool to have, however I couldn't find away of hiding it when you don't need it, and this for me is a littleannoying. Some people might not think much of it, but for me I had toknock a point off the final rating for that but trust me - that's justme being VERY critical in an attempt to provide the best review I canof the product which is otherwise absolutely fantastic. Customization Options /images/reviews/rex5ef/t/rex5-environment-force-01.jpgI was very impressed with the range of different optionsEnvironment Force provides. Not only do you have the ability tocontrol weather parameters and visibility, but you also have theability to change water reflection and refraction, terrain coloring, cloud size, sky textures and a lot more too - it provides probablymore customization than I have ever seen in any other product from REXor otherwise, and it allows you to do it in a very simple and basicway without the need to know all the technical stuff. One factor I really like is that once you're done, you can shareyour preset with the community. I know this feature isn't "new" to theworld, and other REX products allow this too, but the ability toimport and export your presets and to modify others to your own likingwithin such a heavily featured product is just great. Obviously sometimes we make mistakes, and you might not like theway a certain modification has made your clouds look. This isn't aproblem - all of the options have a handy "reset" button next to them, and a "Global Reset" button on some too, making it easier than ever toswitch back to default if you need to. Advanced Options /images/reviews/rex5ef/t/rex5-environment-force-02.jpgAs well as the options inside of the program itself, we also havethe advanced options which are available by clicking thebeforementioned little REX icon whilst using the simulator. Clickingthis brings up a fantastic mini-menu allowing easy customization andadvanced tweaking of the visuals in the sim, again - without having toexit the simulator or use a second screen if you don't have one. If you prefer to fine-tune things rather than use sliders, thenthis little interface is perfect. Of course, you can save all of theoptions in here the same way that you can in the main interface, andyou can load them back in whenever you want should you decide tochange things along the way. One thing I do like about the mini-menu is the fact that it allowsyou to enter values in via the keyboard, which means you can beextremely precise and exact with your tweaking. Textures And Models /images/reviews/rex5ef/t/rex5-environment-force-04.jpgOne of the disadvantages (if you can call it that) I found was therequirement for you to ownSkyForce 3DorREX Texture Directfor Environment Force to work properly. This is because EnvironmentForce uses the models and textures from these other tools instead ofcoming packed with its own set of models and textures. Some peoplemight see this as a disadvantage and they may need to go out and buyanother product just to get Environment Force working. Luckily for me - I already have both SkyForce 3D and TextureDirect, and by the looks of it, there is also going to be support forthird-party tools as well. There is a greyed-out box which says"3rd-Party, Coming Soon". The models and textures can also be customized in terms ofresolution for the clouds. You can choose between 4096 x 4096Textures, 2048 x 2048, 1024 x 1024 or 512 x 512. This is great forthose of you who need to be able to customize this for the sake ofperformance. Conclusion And Final VerdictSo perhaps not the longest review of all time, but the simplicityand easy-to-use nature of this product speak for itself. There isn'treally a need to go into much more detail, and I found the entireexperience of using REX 5 - Environment Force extremely enjoyable andexciting. I was slightly disappointed with the inability to move orhide the tiny REX logo in the bottom-left hand corner of the screen, and it could have done with maybe a new interface instead of copyingfrom previous products, but these are more aesthetic than anythingelse, and I'm happy to say I won't be taking too many points off myfinal verdict. REX 5 - Environment Force is an absolutely fantastic andrevolutionary piece of software which changes everything. No more dosimmers have to close the sim if they want to change visuals, and nomore do we have to spend hours finding the perfect combination. I am happily giving the product a solid 8 out of 10, with the onlygripes being the abovementioned issues relating to the advanced menuicon, the lack of a new interface, and the requirement to need anotherREX product in order to use Environment Force properly.
