Straight away itwas clear to see that the waterfront was well populated withskyscrapers and smaller buildings, with good use of ortho imagery. Fromabove 2000 feet, the quality of the orthos works well, but if you dropbelow that, then the quality starts to disappear rather rapidly. The scenery also revealed a well modelled road network with plentyof moving vehicles, plus reasonably good building textures. Again,much like the orthos, these are best seen from a distance. Itreally must have taken some time to place them in their correctlocations. Having seenimages and videos of the real airport, I was expecting to see quite abit of life (or the impression of), but unfortunately, it was as ifeveryone had taken the day off! There were very few static aircraft,and no people or animated vehicles to be seen. I rectified this by using a freeware plugin called X-Lifefrom Jar Designs, but ideally, it would have been nice to haveexperienced a bit of...life! /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KIAD-05.jpg /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KIAD-06.jpgOn a positive though, the modelling of the main airport structureswas very good. As well as these, there were numerous custom buildingsand hangars placed around the airport. These all seemed to have beenplaced in their correct positions, so this was really nice tosee. KOPF Opa-LockaExecutive Airport is a general aviation airport and jointcivil-military airfield 10 miles north of downtown Miami. Unfortunately, I had the same sentiments at Opa-Locka airport as Idid with Miami International airport. The lack of 3D people andaircraft was really disappointing. I also found that too much orthoground texturing had been used for my personal taste. It was fine attwo thousand feet, but quite horrible at ground level. Personally(with a scenery of this type), I would have liked to have seen somecustom 3D textures used instead of orthos. Another thing I noticedabout the airport, were the duplicate static aircraft objects - theywere all identical, with no variation! /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KOPF-04.jpg /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KOPF-05.jpgAs I explored the airport further, I also noticed that the texturesused in a few of the buildings were of pretty low quality. Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport is a publicairport located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida, UnitedStates, 13 miles southwest of Downtown Miami. KTMB was, as expected, a mixture of ortho textures (if somewhatless) and 3D. The main airport structures (like the other airportsmentioned in this review), looked good and was correctly placed fromwhat I observed. /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KTMB-04.jpg /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KTMB-05.jpgCompared to the previous two airports I had looked at, KTMB was myfavorite, as it had a good mixture of airport scenery, coupled withdomestic, high rise and waterfront objects, all in close proximity.The airport was slightly less repetitive than the other two (inregards to textures), and was one of the reasons why I enjoyed it morethan the others. ConclusionHaving now looked at the scenery, and its three included airports,it was time to sum up the pros and cons of the package. Drzewiecki Design have a well deserved reputation for putting agreat deal of time and research into the development of theirsceneries, and so I was a bit disappointed with Miami. Whilst the areacovered is truly impressive, and the use of ortho imagery (whereappropriate), worked well, I was left wanting in other areas. /images/reviews/miamixp/t/Miami-XP-KIAD-11.jpgFor me, the lack of people and static aircraft let the scenery downsomewhat, as did the use of some of the texturing (objects andorthos). I agree, orthos do have their use, but I'm not sure thedevelopers got it right on this occasion (flat car and trees are justa big no no). So the question now being asked is, should you purchase thisscenery? Well...if you happen to be from Miami, or have an interest inthe area, then I would say the package will probably be quiteenjoyable. There are quite a few areas of this scenery which are donewell, it's just a shame that the issues mentioned in this review letit down.
