/images/notams/notams21/dino0426/mini500-1.jpgAs other developers have recently unveiled the release date for asimilar product, we wanted to share with you some details about one ofour "secret" projects: the Revolution Mini-500 helicopter. We have been silently working in this for months as a researchproject which generated from our efforts in creating "external" flightmodels in Microsoft Flight Simulator - the idea being to becomecapable of creating arbitrary advanced flight models and potentiallyshare them between different simulators. Unknown to many users, it is possible in MSFS to write your owncustom flight model (using C++) and override the MSFS flight modelpartially or completely (...and btw it is also possible to do that inmost modern flight simulators). /images/notams/notams21/dino0426/mini500-2.jpgWe have starting experimenting with this in late December, and itwas soon clear to us that we could try and build a properhelicopter. We have also involved experts in helicopter simulation inthe development to create a "by-the-book" dynamic model. We chose the Mini-500 (even if it is not a very popular model) fora number of reasons, but the main one was that we wanted to start witha very simple machine. Also, we have decided not to share details onthis project so far mostly because -a the moment- it is a researchproject. We have no release date so far, and actually it is not even 100%granted we will be able to complete it, but it is been an extremelyinteresting learning experience. ...so, basically the meaning of this post is "do not be toosurprised in case indiafoxtecho releases an helicopter sometime in thefuture". /images/notams/notams19/vsky0627.jpgThe VSKYLABS Test-Pilot: Mini-500 Project was just updated with aminor-update-release; current project version is now v1.27. Update information: Installed radio equipment is now COM1+NAV1(instead of COM2+NAV2) ...as it should be. (NAV1 is there for futureimplementation, and it may be replaced with COM2 radio soon). There is a planned, additional update for this project for lateJuly 2019, in which it will include the STMA Autoupdater plugin, andseveral enhancements (exact update features will be posted soon). The update for v1.27 is available now at the stores, simply loginto your store account and download the updated package and installit. Source

/images/notams/notams19/vsky0121/vsky0121.jpgThe VSKYLABS development of the Revolution Mini-500 project forX-Plane flight simulator was acknowledged by its real-world designer,Mr. Dennis Fetters, who has also contributed several 1st handreference materials for this project (Thank you!). However, it is anindependent VSKYLABS project which is not affiliated and/or endorsedwith the 'Fetters Aerospace Company' and/or Mr. Dennis Fetters. The VSKYLABS Test-Pilot: Mini-500 Project IntroductionThis project is part of the VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot' series, designedspecifically for use with X-Plane 11.30+ cutting edge ExperimentalFlight Model (should be enabled in X-Plane's General Settingsmenu). /images/notams/notams19/vsky0121/mini500-1.jpgThe Revolution Mini-500 is an American single seat lighthelicopter, designed and built in the 90's by Dennis Fetters, as ahome-built kit. It is a natural VSKYLABS project selection! VSKYLABS development approach for this project for X-Plane 11 wasas if it was a real home-built effort, similar to the process donewith the VSKYLABS Rutan LongEZ Project, meaning that it is beingdesigned and developed with a practical engineering/experimentalapproach along with the use of real reference materials and withextensive research behind it. The project is setting up a highly detailed and highly accurateMini-500 simulation along with full VR compatibility. 2-3 variants areplanned down the road. It is a very exciting and unique VSKYLABS project, designed toreplicate the initial test-flights and familiarization phase of a newhome-built experimental helicopter by its owner. /images/notams/notams19/vsky0121/mini500-2.jpgProject Main FeaturesVSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot' Project.Highly defined flight dynamics model of the Revolution Mini-500, built around the powerful, native X-Plane 11.30+ 'Experimental Flight Model' environment (must be selected in the General settings window in X-Plane 11).Fully functional VR (Virtual Reality) Ready.Multi-Layer FMOD sound packUnique aspects of the Mini-500 helicopter are simulated and are part of the flying experience by definition: Manual engine/rotor RPM management, low rotor-inertia aspects, in-flight nose tuck during engine-stop, rotor RPM management, retreating blade stall condition (Vne), typical Mast bumping, typical autorotation capability and more. The VSKYLABS Test-Pilot: Mini-500 is designed as if it was a real kit-built helicopter, awaiting for it's first test-flight. Was it built exactly as instructed? Will it fly as expected? wow there is only one way to find out!You will have to get to know it step by step...or you might get yourself into serious trouble when mistreating it. Mastering the VSKYLABS Mini-500 will sure make you a better helicopter pilot! The original pilot's manual was one of the core-materials during development of this project, and the VSKYLABS Mini-500 pilot's manual is built based on it.The project is under constant development.Highly responsive VSKYLABS support forums. /images/notams/notams19/vsky0121/mini500-3.jpgPurchase VSKYLABS - Mini-500

/images/notams/notams18/vsky1205/vsky1205.jpgThe VSKYLABS Revolution Mini-500 Project is waiting for the VRevaluation phase which will take place starting next week. Main focus in the VR evaluation phase is on overall optimizationsfor VR...making sure it will perform as a "VR-Beast'. /images/notams/notams18/vsky1205/mini500-1.jpgDuring the past few weeks, project development was focused onflight testings, deep engineering and interior design. It was clearthat the VSKYLABS Mini-500 will be be styled with the nostalgic sportscars interiors looks of the 80s-90s. The VSKYLABS Revolution Mini-500 Project is now having a newproject page, which is still under construction. It will include, in steps,everything-needed-to-know in order to fly and operate the VSKYLABSMini-500; useful links, online/pdf POH, detailed screen shots andvideos, illustrated instructions and familiarization screen shotsetc... /images/notams/notams18/vsky1205/mini500-2.jpgIt is being developed around the original Mini-500 POH, which willsoon be edited into a comprehensive instruction manual and will beavailable for use with the VSKYLABS Mini-500 project. As noted in previous posts, the VSKYLABS Mini-500 is also beingdeveloped to become a true "VR beast" in terms of frame rates andoverall usability. /images/notams/notams18/vsky1205/mini500-3.jpgThe Mini-500 is scheduled to be the 1st VSKYLABS release in2019--release window will be determined soon--and there are somechances that the initial release version will be ready just before theyear-counter switches...
