Seychelles XPPublisher: AerosoftReview Author: Paul MortSuggested Price: $49.99/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.pngThis is a review of Seychelles XP byAerosoft, and a scenery package I was particularly looking forward togetting by hands on. By looking at the title, one could been forgivenfor thinking that this scenery was of Seychelles International Airportonly, but in actual fact it is a collection of no less than fifteenairports and four heliports, all of which are listed below: Airports:FSIA - Seychelles International AirportFSSB - Bird Island AirportFSPP - Praslin Island AirportFSSC - Coetivy AirportFSAL - Alphonse AirportFSDA - D'Arros Island AirportFSAS - Assumption Island AirportFSSD - Denis Island AirportFSSA - Astove Island AirportFSDR - Desroches AirportFSFA - Farquhar AirportFSSF - Fregate Island AirportFSMA - Marie Louise Island AirportFSPL - Platte Island AirportFSSR - Remire Island AirportHeliports:FSIA - Zil Air BaseXHFSNB - Naval Base MaheXHFSSL - Hilton Labriz Silhouette IslandXHFSLD - La Digue HelipadInstallationAs is usual with Aerosoft scenery, the installation was simple andstraightforward. After extraction of the main zip file, I was providedwith four folders, and these were placed in my X-Plane 11 CustomScenery folder. These were also arranged/configured in myScenery_packs.ini file. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-17.jpgWalkaboutAs Seychelles International is the main airport of the scenery, Idecided that this would make a good starting point for my virtual tour(we will not be visiting each airport in the list, just a selection). My intial thoughts were very positive, as it was clear that a greatdeal of work had gone into making the terminal buildings, and this wasreinforced after looking at the real airport on Google Maps. Thehighlight of the scenery was the main terminal building, as it wasextremely detailed and very pleasing to the eye. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-13.jpgThere were quite a few additional buildings situated around theapron and these matched the quality of the airport's main terminalbuilding. However, the one thing which really caught my eye was thedeep azure blue sea (it looked very inviting). /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-02.jpgViewed from above, Aerosoft have done a great job at capturing theessence of the airport. This includes not only the buildings, but thenumerous animated vehicles and tropical vegetation situatedthroughout. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-05.jpgEven though this was only a virtual representation of the area, Imust admit, it made me want to visit the real airport...especially asI'm due a holiday! All in all, a very pleasant start to my tour. After looking at the included map, I decided to visit Bird IslandAirport... Bird Island /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-10.jpgThe entire island was covered in lush vegetation with good qualitytexturing being used on many of the 3D objects (this included bothbuildings and trees, etc.). /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-09.jpgAs expected, Aerosoft's rendition of the Seychelles comes withnumerous sandy beaches, and these were very pleasing to the eye (ifonly I had brought my bucket and spade). /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-03.jpgAnother aspect of the scenery I was particularly impressed with, was the sea and wave texturing around Bird Island. Whilst notanimated, the contrasting colors provided some great effects, andworked really well at setting the scene. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-08.jpgWith this section of the scenery completed, it was time to leaveBird Island for my next destination, FSAL Alphonse Airport. Alphonse AirportThis is another small area of the scenery which could have soeasily have been forgotten, but again, it's been included, which showsgreat attention to detail by Aerosoft. I'm saying this because quiteoften in scenery packages, once the main attraction has been modelled, the smaller details are often forgotten or ignored. This is not thecase with Alphonse Airport, as it displays the same amount of qualityas the previous areas. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-06.jpgWalking around I especially liked the volumetric grass texturing ondisplay, complete of course with individual blades. This scenery inparticular was full of surprises, as amongst the dense forest I cameacross small hidden places I would not have expected to haveseen. Again, wonderful attention to detail. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-07.jpgThe sheer quality of the custom vegetation gave the scenery anatmosphere default trees would just fail to do justice. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-14.jpgWith my tour of Alphonse Airport over, it was time to head over toCoetivy Airport. Coetivy AirportMy next stop was Coetivy Airport situated on an island whichexhibited a large number of trees and bushes. It had a long concreterunway suitable for medium sized aircraft, but I was quite happy withmy trustyJust Flight C152(prefect for sightseeing). /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-16.jpg /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-01.jpgI particularly liked the concrete runway located here, as it lookedvery authentic with its numerous cracks and oil spillages. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-04.jpgSome of the landings I found to be a bit tricky, but I put thatdown to spending too much time making 3D objects and not flying. Onefalse move here and you're swimming with the fishes! Hilton Labriz Silhouette Island (Heliport)This was my last stop and my favorite location of all. Adelightful little rocky cove with a grass peninsula and small beachrising up to a large hill behind - there were even speedboats in theharbor. The level of detailing at this location was simply superb(just look at those rocks), so well done Aerosoft! /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-12.jpg /images/reviews/aeroseyc/t/aerosoft-seychelles-xp-11.jpgFeatures:Custom terrain mesh with photo-realistic textures and vegetation Highly detailed rendition of the Seychelles International Airport Highly detailed rendition of the Regional Praslin Island Airport Renditions of thirteen additional airfields and four heliports Hundreds of custom objects and landmarks all over the islands Custom autogen with country-specific buildings and objects Road-network and sea-routes with animated, dynamic traffic Custom static aircraft and liveries by Pedro van Leeuwen Implementation of the "Scenery Animation Manager" (SAM v2)System Requirements:X-Plane 11.41r1 or a later version of X-Plane 11 Scenery Animation Manager (SAM) version 2 (optional) Video card / VRAM: 4 GB required, 6 GB+ recommended CPU: Multi Core processor with 3.2 GHz or better Hard disk: 9 GB of free disk space RAM: minimum 8 GB RAM or moreReview PC:Windows 10 64 bitIntel Core i5 3350P CPU @ 3.1 GHz16 GB RamNVidia Ge Force GTX1050 Ti PerformanceThe package performed flawlessly with my setup above, and Iexperienced no frame rate issues or slowdowns during my testing. ConclusionAerosoft Seychelles XP costs US$49.99 UK£40.60 AUS$81.60,which is by no means cheap, but when you factor in that you get 19airport locations, custom terrain mesh with photo-realistic texturesand vegetation, custom autogen, plus top quality objects and staticaircraft, then the cost seems to be very reasonable. This is alocation you could explore for days and still not see everything, itreally is that good. The only real negative I could find with thisscenery was the lack of 3D people, but this seems to be true of manypayware sceneries. /images/reviews/aeroseyc/seychelles-xp.jpgAll in all, this is a scenery I would highly recommend, it reallyis that good. /images/notams/notams20/maps0210/maps0210.jpgHere is some news from scenery developer Maps2XPlane abouttheir Seychelles4XPlane package. In this this post thedeveloper goes into detail about the additional thirteen airfieldsavailable in the scenery - the two main airports in the scenery areSeychelles International Airport and Praslin Island Airport: After informing you in the previous posting about the two largestairports – the Seychelles International Airport and the regionalPraslin Island Airport – let's today have a closer look at thethirteen additional airfields which will be included in theSeychelles4XPlane scenery package: The thirteen additional landing sites are spread over the smallerislands of the Seychelles archipelago and are usually very small andshort, and embedded in dense tropical vegetation. Four of them aregrass airstrips. So dear virtual pilots: Be prepared for challengingapproaches, and expect to be rewarded by stunning and scenic locations– island hopping at its best. /images/notams/notams20/maps0210/island-hopping.jpgIRL most of the islands are served by the Island DevelopmentCompany. IDC was incorporated in 1980, to create a structure to enablethe economy of the outer islands to be developed. Only selectedislands are dedicated for tourism, and can be reached either byscheduled Air Seychelles flights, or charters operated by Zil Air, alocal provider of helicopter and fixed-wing flights. Expect untouched nature, stunning atolls and lagoons, densetropical vegetation, and here and there a few signs ofcivilization. That means for our Seychelles rendition for X-Plane:photorealistic terrain mesh paired with custom 3D vegetation, customgeneric autogen, and custom dynamic traffic on land and on thesea. Last but not least: Selected islands, hosting IRL hotels andresorts, received also some extras: We populate them with customobjects and buildings, based on real counter-parts. /images/notams/notams20/maps0210/custom-buildings.jpgSource
