  8. thecorporatepilotdad presents a new tutorial video for MSFS 2020 pilots. In this video, climb, cruise, and descent profiles and planning will be covered. As a Professional Pilot who has flown 400 series Twin Cessna aircraft for hundreds of hours, some real-world procedures are shown. How much fuel and time does it take to climb to various altitudes? That information will be given as well. Power settings for climb, cruise, and descent are shown. Cruise charts from 1,000 to 30,000' are shown. A brief explanation of setting power from the charts is given and actual performance versus charted performance is compared. Descent planning is simplified when it comes to power management. If looking for methods of planning when to start a descent to reach a desired altitude, that is NOT this video. Power management in the descent is simplified and the method shown will greatly reduce pilot workload and make flying the FlySimWare Cessna 414AW much easier by committing a few numbers to memory. 9. MSFS Flysimware Cessna 414AW Systems and Switches Explained By thecorporatepilotdad Learn what all the buttons, switches, and systems do in the Cessna414AW by Flysimware. This video tutorial will explain nearly every switch and system associated with the aircraft. Flysimware's Cessna414 systems and switches will be explained in this video to make the airplane easier to fly and understand what is happening when knobs are turned and switched are turned on. The engines on the Cessna 414AW (with the RAM conversion) are Continental TSIOL-550s. Did you know those letters and numbers actually have a significance? They do, and that explanation occurs very early in the video. Ever wonder why the airplane starts to lose power as it climbs even though it is turbocharged? How is the airplane pressurized? How is the pressurization set? What do turbochargers do? How to turbochargers work? What do the heating and air conditioning switches do? All that and more will be answered in this video. This video was made with version 2.9.0 which is available for Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC and Xbox. thecorporatepilotdad Youtube channel The Corporate Pilot Guys Podcast About The Author This video is produced by thecorporatepilotdad. 13. Mitsubishi MU-2B-60Publisher: FlysimwareReview Author: Richard NurseSuggested Price: $39.99/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.png /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-26.jpgAnother turboprop for Prepar3D V5 isvery much appreciated, but is the MU-2 by Flysimware any good? The MU-2B-60 is a very welcomed addition to the simulator marketsince users of Prepar3D Version 5 do not have a very wide selection ofturboprop aircraft that do not require high-end GPU's to run smoothly, and therefore provide value to the simmer. The Majestic Software Q400is fantastic in that it runs very well on P3D V5 with minimal GPU VRAMrequirements, but the Q400 is not suited to small airports with veryshort, or unprepared runways. The King Air and 180 EVO by Milviz aregreat but are way to intensive on the GPU! This is where Flysimware'srendition of the Mitsubishi MU-2 has its unique value; it providessimmers with a high-quality simulation experience of a turbopropaircraft with STOL capabilities for flying to those lesser-knownairports and runways, while remaining compliant with relativelylow-end PC's for better frame rates. Flysimware has designed the MU-2B-60 using hundreds of photos andengine sound recordings from an owner who recently restored hisMU-2B-60 aircraft. They promise that this MU-2 is the most realisticGarrett turboprop simulator aircraft on the market. Systems modellingis a primary feature, and Flysimware has used custom coding toaccurately simulate the aircraft's systems down to the smallestdetail. At a price of $39.99, I would expect that this is indeed animpressive aircraft, but can it really stand up to its real-lifecounterpart? Here are some of the primary features offered in thisMU-2 simulation: Real World operational with high quality specs100% shareable cockpitHD textures / World Reflections / Specular effects / AO static shadow effectsSelf shadowing effects for interior model (DX10 only)Custom sound set with bonus virtual cockpit and environment soundsCustom coding for real World gauges and animationsIncludes Sperry and Collins flight instruments and tested for accuracyGTX330 TRANSPONDER / FLYSIMWARE GNS 530Flight1 GTN 750 GPS integration (Must own product)Milviz WX Advantage Radar integration (Must own product)Accurate pressurization systemHigh quality animated pilots with optional settingsAircraft option panel allows you to add luggage change aircraft modes and pilotsService hangar to repair engines or failuresNTS check / Propeller start Locks system / Accurate start up and shut down procedureComplete auto pilot modes with IAS climbAnimated first stage compressor turbinesCustom windshield rain effects and custom world reflectionsCustom coding for 2 Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines and sounds for the most realistic Garrett simulation ever produced. Now known as Honeywell 331 engines! This is a geared drive engine unlike the common turboprop you find in a King Air aircraft.SoundsCustom sound setCustom sound module for environment and interior soundsInstallationInstallation is very straight forward, and does not require anyspecific coding, or knowledge of P3D's backend functions. It has amulti-platform installer, so you can install the aircraft on FSX andP3D at the same time. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-06.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-11.jpg Exterior ModelThe exterior model has been developed using HD textures, and theattention to detail is most noticeable. I find the reflections to bevery representative of the capabilities of Prepar3D Version 5, as ithas the appearance of being a real aircraft. Remember that thisexternal model was designed using hundreds of photos of the realairplane. However, these are not the highest ultra-high-resolutiontextures, so its realism will be limited somewhat. I have seen evenCarenado aircraft have UHD resolution textures and not demandsignificant VRAM capabilities. Maybe this could have been better for$39.99 USD? /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-05.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-04.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-29.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-27.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-16.jpgA turboprop aircraft without an external GPU is simply not worthy, but this aircraft has a fantastic GPU included with a customsound. The GPU also powers the aircraft properly and brings a greatsense of immersion and fun to the simulation experience. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-14.jpgThe external model is highly configurable. You can add flight crewto the cockpit using the aircraft configurator so that they arenoticeable from the external view. You can also include their shadesand headphones, and if so desired, remove them. You can also add sunvisors and chocks. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-23.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-33.jpgI find the external model to be worthy of the price of theairplane. It brings a great sense of immersion and is promised to beexactly like the real airplane. Interior (Cockpit And Cabin)Flysimware has included many animated features throughout the cabinand virtual cockpit. The instruments have a great sound when clicked, and are modelled perfectly in 3D to provide the simmer with arealistic piloting experience. All instruments related to the systemsof the aircraft work; I would say 95% of all instruments areoperable. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-13.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-30.jpgNotice how great the 3D modelling of the instruments is. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-31.jpgThe cockpit and cabin lack a certain grace in terms ofattractiveness and true-to-life depiction of the real aircraft, mainlyas a result of the low-resolution textures used for thedevelopment. As a result, the cockpit is not as attractive whencompared to either a Carenado or Milviz model. However, what thiscockpit does provide is usability, and it provides simmers who haverelatively low-end GPU hardware to a realistic and in-depth simulationof the MU-2. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-02.jpgYou can see in this image that the rest of the cockpit has asubstandard appearance; not what you would expect for a Prepar3D V5add-on aircraft. But it works, and I don't really mind. If the systemswork well, then I am satisfied. But do the systems work well? I willlet you know in a bit. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-10.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-01.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-20.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-07.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-12.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-32.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-09.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-24.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-25.jpg Substandard Functionality Of The InstrumentsNow, I have a huge problem with this cockpit, and that is, some ofthe instruments do not work (inoperative), and some of the switchesoperate in groups, meaning that if you click one, then all in thatgroup turn on. The inoperative switches would include the compasssystem controls, the cabin vents, and some others. As a pilot, I amconcerned with these systems, they must work. If they do not work, then this is not a study level simulation. It should be priced $30 orless, not $40, which for the same price I can buy a Milviz turbopropthat has far better systems modelling, and more instruments which areoperable. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-17.jpgEven the Alternate Static Source instrument does not work! This isnot acceptable. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-03.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-21.jpg /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-18.jpgToo many instruments do not work. Many of the light switches operate together when I click them, including the row of 6 turn knob lights, which operate all at the sametime! Others include the pitot heat switches, the avionics masterswitches, and some others on the overhead panel. Who told Flysimwarethat such a design is considered worthy and acceptable of a high-levelsimulation? That is not worthy in my opinion and should be fixed. Thisis not a video game on Xbox. I want to operate them one at a time, just as I would in real life. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-22.jpgReview Of The Problems I Have Encountered With The SystemsThis add-on boasts in depth and accurate systems modelling down tothe smallest detail, including a highly realistic coding of theturboprop engines, which the developers have worked around thelimitations of FSX to produce the coding of a linked prop shaft directto the prop. As such, Flysimware has become the first company tosimulate a real-world Garrett turboprop system. However, there aresome issues. If the autopilot HDG or NAV modes are active, and I disconnect theautopilot, the aircraft will bank to the left. That sounds hazardous! It cannot be realistic. When I am parked at the ramp, the cabin altimeter has an effectiverange of the designed service ceiling of the aircraft. However, when Icarry out a flight, save the flight at cruise altitude, exit andreenter the sim, the cabin altimeter is limited to about 14,000 feet, when before it had a limit of 31,000 feet. You'll be very disappointed to know that if you save your flight, and exit the sim, when you return and load the flight, the cockpitstate is totally awry, and all instruments have default states. Inother words, everything resets, so you have to reconfigure your entireairplane. And as I stated previously, the pressurization system has abug where you can't set the cabin altitude back to your desired cruisealtitude above 14,000 feet. This aircraft has a service ceiling of around 31,000 feet, but Iwent about climbing the aircraft to see where it would stop. I reachedaround 42,000 feet before no further climbing could havecontinued. I'm no expert on this subject, but I don't think that isrealistic. So, these are the major issues I have found. But other than these, the engine coding is fantastic, with the propeller lock systemrealistically developed. The sounds of the engines are also verynice. Engine SoundsI must say the engine sound set is impressive and satisfying tolisten to. Flysimware states that this is custom coding for 2 GarrettTPE331 turboprop engines and sounds for the most realistic Garrettsimulation ever produced. The engine sound is loud, and changesrealistically as the condition levers are moved through all stages offlight. I have listened to YouTube videos of the real MU-2, and theysound exactly the same as the sim. Very acceptable, and highlyrepresentative of the modern age of flight simulation. Great immersivevalue is provided by the engine sounds. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-28.jpgSupport WindowsThere are several great support windows included for the simmer tocontrol the aircraft, including an aircraft configurator, and acockpit state and maintenance window. The Aircraft Configuration WindowThis window allows for the control of the variable elements of theaircraft, such as the main exit, the wheel chocks, the baggage, theGPU, sun visors, and the pitot covers. You can add or remove flightcrew, and here is also where you see the state of the Start Locks. Onehuge problem though, is that there is no Fuel and Payload Manager. TheFuel Map (seen in the image below), is purely informative, and cannotbe edited. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-19.jpgAircraft Options WindowThis is where the cockpit state selection is made available so thatyou can configure the cockpit automatically to cold and dark, or readyto start. You can also repair the engines and refill the fuel, butthat engine repair feature is not respective of some engine ware thatmay have occurred, as there is no indication of the state of theengines. What happens if I don't repair it? Flysimware has notindicated that this airplane features engine damage and failure overtime due to poor operation of the aircraft, so I can only assume it isnot a feature of this model. No Fuel and Payload ManagerTo only be able to refill the fuel tanks without specifying anamount is basic to say the least. I never use full fuel tanks for aflight, so I cannot really call this a fuel manager. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-15.jpgStart Locks InstructionsHere are the instructions for operating the start locks. These arean impressive feature of this simulation and must be handled properlyotherwise the engine cannot be operated. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/t/Flysimware-MU-2B-60-08.jpgSimmer Opinion of Flysimware MU-2This model boasts some incredible features, such as a fantasticengine and interior sound set, great systems modelling, and awell-developed and high-resolution external model. The configurableexternal model is genuinely nice, and I very much like the externalGPU with its custom sound. The systems of the aircraft are nicelydeveloped. I am even happy to find that the NTS checks are properlysimulated according to the official manual. This aircraft wasdeveloped based on the advice and direction of a real MU-2 owner, withhundreds of pictures and engine sound recordings. As a result, thissimulation is in-depth and accurate. However, the issues present in this MU-2 only allow me to say thatthis is an impressive simulation, and that it is not perfect orstudy-level (for the reasons outlined in this review). Other than these issues, I like the MU-2 by Flysimware and continueto use it. I really do hope they are able to fix the issues mentionedin this review. By doing so, they would bring this add-on to an evenhigher level of simulation experience. As it stands at time ofwriting, I would rate the MU-2 by Flysimware as 4.3 out of 5. /images/reviews/simwmu2b/title3.jpgRichard Nurse Purchase Flysimware - Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 for FSX and P3D
  14. /images/notams/notams21/widg0729/widg0729.jpgThe G-44A is an American high-wing, twin-engine, amphibious lightaircraft produced by the Grumman Aerospace Corporation in the late1930s. Grumman envisioned a smaller version of its G-21 Goose, whichhad proven successful as a business transport aircraft. Called theWidgeon, the prototype of the aircraft first flew in July of 1940,intended for the civil market. World War II intervened, however, and the production aircraftentered service for the militaries of the United States andBritain. At the end of the conflict, Grumman revisited the civilianconcept for the airframe and released the G-44A Widgeon. The G-44A,with seating for six including the pilot, quickly became well-known asa reliable, durable machine eminently capable of operation from bothland and water, notably in austere and remote areas like those ofAlaska. /images/notams/notams21/widg0729/g44a-widgeon-1.jpgThe Widgeon is driven by two wing-mounted Ranger 6-440-C5six-cylinder engines that each produce 200 horsepower. The airplanehas a maximum speed of 160 miles per hour, a climb rate of 1,750 feetper minute, and a ceiling of 18,000 feet above sea level. A classic gem in the history of aviation, the Grumman G-44A Widgeonallows pilots to access the sky from either land or water, and do soconfidently. From inside the cockpit of the burly machine, aviatorscan launch into the heights from a modern airport, then touch down ona river deep in the backcountry, then leap again into the air from theshore. A go-anywhere craft, the Widgeon provides one of the rarestopportunities to be found in the world of aviation, one that combinespiloting with exploration. /images/notams/notams21/widg0729/g44a-widgeon-2.jpgThe Widgeon was originally designed for the civil market. It issmaller but otherwise similar to Grumman's earlier G-21 Goose, and wasproduced from 1941 to 1955. The aircraft was used during World War IIas a small patrol and utility machine by the United States Navy, USCoast Guard and by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. The first prototype flew in 1940, and the first production aircraftwent to the United States Navy as an anti-submarine aircraft. Intotal, 276 were built by Grumman, including 176 for themilitary. 21. /images/notams/notams20/ware0518.jpgVersion 2.9 UpdatesNew Features:New realistic air start procedure. See Manual.Prop spool down animation is now slower on ground. DISCLAIMER: The upside is now slower spool down but the downside is in air the spool down takes like 2 minutes to stop due to wind milling. This is a limitation issue for this type of air file. Now you can save flight with chocks, plugs and windshield cover enabled and when you load the flight the next time they will now load enabled. Now when either engine starts these options will disable. We use to use the parking brakes but this will no longer work with our new feature.Flysimware's Transponder in the GTN models were not enabled.Bugs And Updates:The prop animated the wrong direction for the feathered position. FixedP3D beacon bleeding into cockpit is now fixed due to our new DLL donated by Doug Dawson.Prop angle ground minimum reduced from 4 degrees to 0. Now you can move the throttle slightly forward for taxi movement keeping the throttle below the ground idle line so the engine sound does not increase.Flysimware's Transponder always displays 4 digits when starting with a zero. For example you can now enter 0123 or 0000. Cabin and VC dome light updated.Flight dynamics update. Increased reverse thruster. Improved airframe and flaps drag. Improved engine torque scale and sensitivity.Airspeed Barber pole updated to mach 0.57 per Mitsubishi POM.Windshield glass is more clear and the tinted green glass which is optional is slightly lighter.Flysimware Mitsubishi MU-2B-60Flysimware has designed the MU-2B-60 since Flysimware's chiefpilot and beta captain is very familiar with this type of turbopropand this specific aircraft. Flysimware was given hundreds of photosand engine sound recordings from an owner who recently refurbishedhis MU-2B-60 aircraft. With hundreds of hours and over 4,000 lines ofcustom coding we have brought you the most realistic Garrettturboprop simulation aircraft on the market. Due to FSX limitationson the turboprop engines we have worked around the coding to producea linked prop shaft direct to the prop and being the first company tosimulate a real world Garrett turboprop system. We have included many animated features throughout the cabin andvirtual cockpit. With custom coding we have a accurate system down tothe smallest details. We have included two more options for users whouse the payware GTN750 GPS unit or Reality's XP WX500 weather radarunit. If you do not own these payware add-ons our default modelincludes a static weather radar and Flysimware's upgraded GNS 530 GPSunit with a working VNAV system.
