My first ever (published) repaint. Depicting the Boeing 747-300 JA8183 flown by Japan Airlines until 2009. It's not the most high quality repaint, but I tried my best . This repaint is for the payware CLS/Just Flight Boeing 747 HD. You need to own this payware aircraft in order to fly this repaint. Readme and instructions included. Have fun!
  2. Hello all! I'm currently using FSX Steam Edition and planning to change to P3Dv5 in the near future. I'm happy to see that most of the add-ons I use in FSX are compatible (in some way or another) with P3D. Except the CLS/JustFlight 747-200/-300, which is one of my favorite jets to fly. On the JustFlight page (https://www.justflight.com/product/747-200-300-hd-fsx), it says its only compatible with P3Dv1-v3 and not with v5. I have the HD version, which has a separate VC and exterior model (which is a requirement for a model to work in P3D I believe), so that's a good sign. I looked it up online to see if there was a way to implement it into v5. Found a thread in which some people said it was not possible, but some other guy managed to get it working. I just don't really understand what he did (how did he change the gauges?) Here is a link to that thread: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/615373-cls-747-classics/ I also found several YouTube videos of the model with working VC in P3Dv5, so it is definitely possible, but the author of the videos were not helpful. So if anyone got it working somehow, please tell me how. There isn't really another option for a 747-200 in P3D as far as I know. Also, I can't test your solutions right now, as I don't have P3D yet. Thanks in advance, guys!
  3. Boeing 747-8 Flight Management System Setup - AAU2 - LNAV/VNAV Autoland - CYYZ-KBOS FMS Tutorial Video by Laurie Doering The Aircraft and Avionics Update 2 (AAU2) by Working Title to the default Boeing 747 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 brings this aircraft closer to a study level/immersion experience. 8. PMDG QOTS II EditionPublisher: FS2CrewReview Author: Richard NurseSuggested Price: $49.95/images/fsc/wbicons/store-buy-now-button.pngFS2Crew is well known for making highquality renditions of real-world operating procedures and simulatedflight crew for simulator aircraft. These products expose the simmerto what it's really like to operate these aircraft with a flight crew, passengers and cabin attendants, and ramp agents. FS 2 Crew hasdeveloped the perfect rendition of the flight deck environment of theBoeing 747-400, specifically for the PMDG 747 QOTS II! It simulates ahighly trained First Officer (FO) who has complete authority over allthe systems of the aircraft, and actually controls the overhead panel, since as you may already know, the overhead panel lies specificallywithin the duties of the First Officer. You also have an attentativeFlight Attendant, and ground crew to complete the entire cockpitworking environment experience. With this product, you can expect the same level of accuracy, attention to detail, and quality as other FS2Crew products to bring toyou the 747 specific airline Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)set. Apparently, it's so realistic in fact that FS2Crew has won thesupreme accolade of receiving official PMDG status as the only'Official' flight crew expansion pack for the PMDG 747! FS2Crew has designed this product in close consultation withreal-world 747 pilot to give you the best SOP rendition possible forthe 747 so that you can take your PMDG 747 QOTS II experience to thenext level. Here are some of the features you can expect from thisproduct: Two 747 specific airline Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) sets. Upon clicking the redenable button, it will be installed into the Panel.cfg of the PMDG747. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-04.jpgInstallation complete! Setup Of The Buttons For Button ControlFor button control options, you must set specific keys in the P3Dcontrol assignment menu unto your joystick or hardware so that you cancommand the FS2Crew application when required, or respond to thecommand of your flight crew. The buttons you must set are asfollows: ControlPurposeSETTINGS - CONTROLS Menu AssignmentMain ButtonYou will use this button 99 percent of the time to progress through the simulation, and to trigger the commands displayed on the left side of the MAIN PANELALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)Secondary ButtonTo respond to requests from the flight crewPROPELLER SYNC (ON/OFF)MAIN PANELOpens or closes the Main PanelReview Of The FeaturesThe Main Panel /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-09.jpgThe user interface is primarily contained in the main panel, in theform of a bar which you place at the top of your screen. The StandardOperating Procedures (SOPs) are presented as a sequential flow, withthe present stage being displayed in the left side of the bar. Whenthe Main Button is pressed, this initiates the command for the FirstOfficer to perform the duty specified in the display. For example, when PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST is displayed in the Main Panel, hitting themain button prompts the First Officer to callout this checklist. TheFirst Officer automatically answers to his/her duties for thechecklist, when you as the Captain must respond to your concerns ofthe checklist. The arrows on the right side of the display of the Main Panelallows the user to progress through the sequential stages of the SOPs,forward or backward. This is useful if you have loaded a flight, whichis in the decent of approach phase of the flight, and you require theFirst Officer to perform the duties of that phase. Simmer Opinion of the Main Panel: The Main Panel is very easy touse, and allows the user navigate through all the features of theprogram quickly. It is very good. The Secondary PanelThe Secondary Panel contains the administrative features of theprogram and allows you to run the Preflight Events, set up theDeparture and Approach Briefings, communicate with your flight andground crew, and configure the application (settings). Departure And Approach Briefings /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-08.jpgThe Departure and Approach briefings are setup using assignments toeach area of the briefing as seen in the image above. The FirstOfficer will then use the aircraft layout features detailed here toconfigure the aircraft for takeoff and landing. For example attakeoff, Packs are set to Off or On, Flaps may be 10 or 20, and ASDE-Xmay be required or not required. When you are finished setting yourbriefing, you play the briefing and the captain's will audibly performthe briefing the First Officer. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-11.jpg The Preflight EventsThe preflight events are a sequence of crew specific duties thatoccur at standard times during a 60-minute countdown. During thisperiod, the First Officer performs his/her preflight duties in realtime. It is very interesting when you notice that she is actuallyswitching nobs on the overhead panel, setting the Icing Systemcontrols, turning off the Packs etc. The FO has fully control over allswitches of the overhead panel, and other panels that fall within herduties. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-06.jpgAlso during the preflight events, passengers are boarded, you aregiven the fuel report, and also the loading sheet when all loading iscomplete. At the end of the Preflight, the aircraft doors are shut, the chocks are removed, and the SODE jetways are undocked. Flight Attendant InterfaceWondering how you speak to your flight crew? After calling the FA,you then select the command you desire and the captain and FA willhave an audible discourse. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-10.jpgGround Crew Interface /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-05.jpgThe ground crew may be contacted using the interphone on the CenterPedestal. You must type 'P' and '1'. You will then hear a a phoneringing and the ground attendant will answer you. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/t/FS2Crew-PMDG-747-QOTS-03.jpgYou can then choose any of the above commands to speak to theofficer. Simmer Opinion of the FS2Crew: PMDG 747 QOTS IITo begin with, it is not right that any simmer should even attemptflying a Boeiong 747 single handedly, because in real life no oneflies a Boeing 747 single pilot. In my opinion, the SOPs are veryrealistic, and I definitely do feel like a Captain in Command of the747 every time I use this application. The interface is very wellpresented and easy to use. I believe that this is a must-have for anysimmer. FS2Crew: PMDG 747 QOTS II gets a full 5 out of 5-star rating. Greatproduct. /images/reviews/fs2cqots/title3.jpgRichard Nurse Purchase FS2Crew - PMDG 747 QOTS II Edition
  9. Hi everyone. I created a Boeing 747 cockpit out of LEGO and submitted it to the LEGO Ideas program (which can use your support). There are quite a few features including moving/linked controls, sliding seats, detailed interior and matching fuselage. It has 1,874 parts. LEGO Ideas is a program where if an idea reaches 10,000 supporters (ie a free vote) then LEGO might make it into an actual LEGO set. If that happened, well there is no reason why LEGO couldn't make an entire series out of this with different aircraft, or anything that has a cockpit (shuttles, heavy machinery, etc). Supporting is super easy, just go here, bit.ly/747Cockpit click Support and log in using a free LEGO Ideas account. I really appreciate it and hope you like it.

  15. /images/notams/notams20/just0728/747classic-2.jpgHere's part two of our small 747 Classic update for you. If youmissed the first one weposted it up last Friday(24th). Again these tweaks are all based on feedback we have receivedfrom the community. 1. One of the most recent additions are the two INS updatingindicators which will indicate then the INS units are making use ofthe DME updating feature that we have simulated. 2. On the Autoflight panel, we have added a third autopilot channelallowing for additional redundancy, with dual or triple autolandcapability. Perfect for low visibility operations! New GPWS controls and indicators are also shown here. We haveequipped the aircraft with a five-mode GPWS which will alert you todeviations from the ILS glideslope, high rates of descent andproximity to the ground when not properly configured for landing. We have also fitted an upgraded Flight Mode Annunciator (FMA),shown above the altimeter, which displays the modes selected on theimproved autopilot and autothrottle. /images/notams/notams20/just0728/747classic-1.jpg3. A less obvious addition in the name of safety is a mirror fittedto the lower overhead panel. This is used by the Captain to confirmthat the flap handle is in the UP position when the thrust leverswould usually obscure his view. 4. TFDi will soon be releasing a P3D v5 compatibility update forRealLight and TrueGlass, and we have been continuing to improve thecockpit and exterior lighting effects. These images show the FlightEngineer's backlit instruments and the taxi, landing and wing lightswith realistic cones and ground illumination. /images/notams/notams20/just0728/747classic-3.jpgSource Just Flight 747 Classic Dev Update Part 1
  16. /images/notams/notams20/clas0724/just-flight-747-classic-1.jpgThe 747-100 and 200 underwent many upgrades during their time incommercial service around the world, making it tough to make the rightdecisions when it comes to development but ours is mostly based on theoriginal configuration, however during development we haveincorporated various upgrades that have been requested by thecommunity. /images/notams/notams20/clas0724/just-flight-747-classic-2.jpgAs we near completion of the systems and avionics coding of the 747Classic, no small task on this mighty and complex jumbo, we continueto improve the aircraft in direct response to community feedback andrequests. We appreciate all the feedback we receive based on ourregular in-development updates, and it can help shape the developmentof our products. In two parts (second part coming soon), here’s asmall update with accompanying images on just some of the changes thatwe have made to the 747 during the past few months. /images/notams/notams20/clas0724/just-flight-747-classic-3.jpgA digital TAT/EPRL indicator has been added to the centreinstrument panel, replacing the analogue TAT indicator. This newindicator displays the total air temperature (TAT), selected thrustrating, EPR limit and mode, selected using the EPRL computer on thecentre pedestal. This computer allows you to select EPR limit modes for differentflight regimes, such as take-off and climb, as well as deratingmodes. We have now added an improved autothrottle which can be used tohold a selected EPR and Mach, in addition to the original speed (IAS)mode. This additional automation eases the workload in this three-crewcockpit. Also visible here is the newer transponder and third INS unitfor flights in modern skies with greater navigational accuracy andsafety. The transponder is connected to the early TCAS that we have fittedto the vertical speed indicators. These use a series of red and greenlights to indicate how to resolve any TCAS conflicts. One of the most recent additions are the two INS updatingindicators which will indicate then the INS units are making use ofthe DME updating feature that we have simulated. /images/notams/notams20/clas0724/just-flight-747-classic-4.jpgSource Product Page
  17. Hi all, The team at Wheelie Bin Studios (made up of just me actually) has been hard at work (more plodding along really) enhancing the default 747-400. We're suckers for punishment and truthfully, if we (me) had known how long this endeavour might take, probably wouldn't have started it! Anyhow I've been able to add emissive lighting to the default 747-400 VC, something it hasn't had before. The first screenshot below shows the panel lighting on. The second screenshot is a comparison screenshot with only the cabin lighting on. This provides the ability to texture some great looking panel lighting into the VC. My own texturing ability is pretty poor (as evidenced by the screenshot below). It's also why the various switches and knobs are lit up like a Christmas tree. At this point in time, I've spent very little effort on the texturing and the intention is to have all of that tidied up. If anybody would like to collaborate with me and have a go at enhancing the night textures, pm me! No previous experience required! :) Before anyone points out the obvious, I'm fully aware I may not complete this project before Flight Simulator (the new one) comes out :). I've started this thing however, and I'll see it through to completion! Happy flying everyone!

  21. /images/notams/notams20/pmdg0415.jpgPMDG 747 UpdatesThe last few weeks, we have been extremely hard at work wrapping upan major update for the PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II productline. This update covers a massive amount of ground in terms addingsome very nice polish and fitness to an already high quality productline, with new wing and tail structural physics, new lift/drag models, updated performance for the GEnX engine type, update ground physics(huge overhaul that I am now pushing backward to NGXu) updated brakingphysics (we broke all braking across the 747/737 line a few monthsback... oops) and a ton of other bug fixes, corrections andimprovements. While all of this was going on, we also decided to fold in therequired changes for P5D, which were significant. Updated models, updated VCs, updated textures, restructuring of the EFB and Navdisplay to be able to read the new scenery file layout, and thechanges go on and on. Some have had questions about many of the new features in P5D andwhether we will capitalize on them right away. The short answer is:Not until we get all of the product lines compatible. THEN we willstart to work in the changes. This update for the 747 has taken some time or, to put itdifferently, we have taken our time with it. We made substantialchanges to the product in order to bring it up to the modern standardwith which we are working in our code base, and these changes neededvery thorough testing to be sure we don't leave any problems behind toupset an otherwise smooth simming experience. I think our beta teamwill agree that we have put no pressure on them at all and we havebeen cataloging their feedback, pushing fixes at them constantly, andasking them to be very thorough in their efforts to break thisairplane. They have succeeded marvelously in that regard, while alsogiving us feedback on things that they thought could use improving(steering on the tug during pushback for instance) and we haveinvested a significant amount of time and energy into answering theirinquiries. The good news is that this code is readily portable back to NGXuand stomping out the issues now will make it a MUCH easier port overto the 777 code base which desperately needs some of this newtechnology for refreshing the product line. We have pushed a new beta to the test team for the weekend. Theyhave reported back with one significant item that I need toinvestigate, but once we have that tacked down and re-tested we willbe ready to push this update out. If all goes well it should be withyou in time for the weekend. DANGER: This expectation could go up insmoke if something major bubbles up, but obviously I'm prettycomfortable that won't happen at this juncture... One note one how this update will roll out: This will be a fulldownload/uninstall/reinstall. This is made necessary by a combinationof broad-based changes in the product line, as well as the P5Dcompatibility changes that are pending. The good news is that it willget everyone on the same cycle. PMDG 737 NGXu UpdatesOnce we have the 747 out of the way, we will begin pushing 737updates to the testing team for them to suss out. The updates for the737 are **mostly** already completed and waiting for the 747 to clearthe testing circuit so that they can be validated. I don't think weshould be looking at more than a few weeks of testing on the 737, andthat update will also be a full re-download and will includefunctionality for P5D as well. Work on the BBJ expansion continues apace and we hope to give you apreview of that in the not-too-distant future. The product is probablypreview ready today, but we are so darned busy that nobody has thetime to focus on that just yet. Work also continues on the cargovariants, and we'll have more information on that one for you in a fewweeks, I hope. PMDG 777 UpdatesFor a while, we had slid the 777 update ahead of the NGXu update, but this reversed itself when we got the P5D release schedule andrealized it was sooner than we had originally expected. (Quite a bitsooner, but that was just a bad guess on our part.) I'll be honest andtell you that the 777 update timeline is creating quite a bit ofanxiety around PMDG of late, because we are very heavily engagedacross multiple platforms and multiple products, and if the 777 updateproves to have the gestational problems that the 747 had with theseupdates, it could really become a drag for all of us waiting for thisto get pushed out to you. The good news is that we killed asignificant number of problems in moving the new technology into the747 so that should smooth the path for the 777 a bit, but this issoftware and things never go smoothly in software... PMDG Global Flight OperationsWe have been quite hush-hush on this topic during the past fewmonths, but we are preparing to begin expanding the testing realm forthis product line. We have collected from this forum and from ourinteraction with simmers in other locations a list of folks that wethink would make good, enthusiastic, critical wide-area testers and weanticipate reaching out to them in the near future in order to bringthem into the testing process. The purpose of their testing is todrive users through the back-end customer management process and toget an initial batch of users that is larger than our regular testingteam in order to proof-check load balancing and a bunch of boringback-end stuff. We are also interested to see what they think of theproject structure and direction, since this is a growing platform thatwill evolve and grow over time. Source
