These are the first such shots they have released and the plane is stilla work in progress, but the view inside the glasshouse is looking good. /images/notams/notams18/heav0827/he111-2.jpg /images/notams/notams18/heav0827/he111-3.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams18/aero0726/aero0726.jpgHere are a few renders of the Heinkel HE 111 P2 exterior, which isabout to head for the paint shop. The entire seat unit, pedalmechanisms and control column can be raised as one unit so that thepilot sits higher with his head out of the top hatch. A smallaeroscreen is raised to deflect the wind and protect the pilot fromflying debris. This system was used to give the pilot better forwardvision when taking off and landing and whenever the glass-house wasobscured or damaged. /images/notams/notams18/aero0726/heinkel-1.jpgThis is typical of the advanced nature of this design. The HE 111was a remarkably capable piece of aeronautical design, beautifullycrafted and finished with the very best of German precision, Crewsmust have been very proud of their machines. /images/notams/notams18/aero0726/heinkel-2.jpgThe similarities of the shapes of the tailfeathers to those foundin Spitfire wings is no coincidence. Mitchell is known to havevisited the Heinkel factory before the war and discussed aerodynamicswith them. He returned to England convinced that if Britain did not dosomething quickly to increase the levels of technology and advance thedesign of its military aeroplanes, the coming war could havedisastrous consequences.
