Aviation Puzzle #10 By Ray Andersen The answer for the Puzzle #9 was Speed Flyers Legends. The participants list is very short this time, so I guess the puzzle was quite difficult. The participants was: Stojan Korda Khalid Al-Izzi Gustav Andersen Kenneth Vinggaard Puzzle #10 is a dual-puzzle, with both the #10a and #10b created and sent in by Bert Visser. Puzzle #10 does not need that much introduction - it's actually rather straight forward and I hope that people will enjoy the last one in the first series. Aviation Puzzle #9 By Ray Andersen The answer for puzzle #8 is Viscount The participants for puzzle #8 were: Khalid Al-Izzi Bruce Wright Peter Rawlings Strojan Korda Kevin Hall Douglas DiCenso Scott Sinclair Puzzle #9 is created and sent in by Bob Azarro - the puzzle is a three-step-puzzle where you get a clue in the left column and the answer you then need to write in the right columns (one letter in each cell). The answer can be a famous aviator, a term or even an aircraft etc. - an example could be: Sound Barrier = Yeager. Additional clue is that some of the answers are actually used more than once... The clue is the first column which is the IATA airport code - and the answer to the IATA code, is the last name of the person the airport was named after. So how well do you know your airports... Here below is the list of participants - rather short this time which probably is due to summer vacation time and maybe also the level of difficulty on that puzzle. To find the manufacturer you need to put in the identification code (designation code) for the specific aircraft with one character in each cell. This puzzle is a bit different (maybe even more difficult) and the goal for this puzzle is to find the answer in the green column to the right. To do this, you need to find each airport code (ICAO code) and list that code into the ICAO code Input section located between the information/Question and the Answer column. To find the airport code you need to combine the ILS frequency and heading - to give a little help, the ILS frequencies and headings are USA only (AirNav). When you have entered the ICAO code please copy the letter within the yellow cell to the green cell. E.g. the first row is with the question 111.75 @ 172° = the answer is the airport Agusta Regional = the ICAO code is KAGS which has to be entered into the ICOA code Input section. The second cell is highlighted with yellow, so you now need to take the "A" and copy that to the green cell to the right (the Answer column). This you have to do for all rows to get the answer of course. Aviation Puzzle #2 By Ray Andersen Puzzle 1 Answer This puzzle I saw in a magazine regarding other subjects and though it might be interesting to do an aviation version. The goal is to find the "Answer" to the puzzle which is the key word in the purple column. This is done by answering the questions in the first column which is then submitted into the corresponding rows (green cells). One letter in each green cell. Here is an example with the answers filled in: For this first puzzle the questions written is only aircraft manufacturer and designation and the answer is the nickname - please note that some aircraft can have more than one nickname, so you of course need to submit the correct one for this puzzle. This puzzle is created completely by ICAO codes which you need to find and apply into the input area. E.g. Bordj Badji Mokhtar is the name of the airport and what you need to do is to write in the four letter ICAO code into the cells to the right of the airport name. Please note only one letter in each cell. When the puzzle is completed you will find two airport names which are the answers for this quiz. The first airport is in the purple column and the second airport is in the orange column. You don't necessarily need to be able to answer all questions to find the "Answer", the goal is simply just to get the answer, and if you can guess it by only answering a few of the questions, that will still be accepted as "OK". For future puzzles the questions don't necessarily need to be regarding nicknames, but it could also be manufacturers, designations, etc. If you like the puzzle and have an idea that you would like to contribute with, please send me a mail. If you have something to add, please do but this I think would cover the basics. I think it's important that if people have ideas for questions etc, that they can send them to me just like the pictures in the recognition quiz.
