    Conditions were murky.

and we were set up nicely...

    for an Autoland at Heathrow.

And so we did, very nicely :-)

But then I selected reverse before the nosewheel was on the runway :-(

Strangely, the aircraft was not "Crashed" and I selected Instant Replay and the landing was normal and I was able to taxy in :-roll

Well you need an aeroplane that will do it first. Microsoft wrote Autoland out of FS2002...it was in FS2000. So, none of the default aircraft will Autoland. People think they do but all they are doing is flying into the ground. For an Autoland the Autopilot should Power Off at about the threshold and it should Flare. Some of the default aircraft used to do this in FS2000 but none of them do it in FS2002. Some add-on aircraft are programmed with their own Autopilot instead of the default one, and some of these can Autoland. The DF734 does do a proper Power Off but not much if any flare. However, if the speed is correct for the weight then it will touchdown on the mainwheels only at about 500 fpm. I believe the PSS aircraft do it (they had a very strong Autoland in FS2000) but I have not updated mine so I can't vouch for them. The Ariane B734 will not Autoland but this aircraft is my merge of it's GMX model with the DF734 and it does Autoland...although you might not think so to look at the pictures :-eek

As for how do you do it...you need to read the aircraft's manual on the subject :-)
