I was scared stiff to hit the ON button. But with the prodding of my
friend R. Stearns, he said "ya gotta move on". Mr. Stearns also did
most if not all of the BIOS. What a guy.
What I'm getting at is I built my first computer from scratch. Ordered
all the parts and glued it together. I am ecstatic with the results.
With little or any tweaking FS9 is entertaining me to no end, and at
present I'm doing it with keyboard controls. Joystick connections will
arrive Monday.
What I'm trying to say is, I'm 68 years old and am, in no stretch of
the imagination, a computer genuius. But, after reading this Forum for
almost the past two years, I have gleaned much info from many. I don't
mean to sound like an Accademy Award winner but, I'd like to thank
Capt'n Slarty, Tim Kotula, and a countless list of others. This Forum
is most educational. Without it I would never have attempted to build
my own. Some of my specs are below.
Asus P4P800 Deluxe Mobo
P4 2.6
Asus Ti4200 AGP
Corsair Matching DDRAM (total 1 gig)
Dual WD 120gb in a RAID 1 config.
I still have a long way to go to get it all set up, but Rome wasn't
built in a day.
And I would be remiss if I didn't thank my wife of 48 years. Judy,
who is the brains of this duo, checked all of the work to see that it
all was properly connected. This saved money on fire extinguishers.
BTW, I didn't ask a lot of questions on the forum. But I sure did
learn from the questions of others. Is this a great forum, or what!
