AIRBUS 321 AND 320 in MSFS

I am unable to make the altitude and vertical speed work at heights in excess of 18,000 feet. I was told to turn the pitot on from auto but that has not helped. Any advice is appreciated

 

You have set the barometric pressure? 18k is the level to do so.

not sure if my reply went through. So to repeat, I have set the barometric pressure at standard 29.92 at 18 k but have experience the problem at lower altitudes and also have problems with the descent being set at all altitudes

I think you were advised to turn the ALT and VS knobs to manual from 'auto', or managed, mode.
