Every flightsimmer's dream can come true!

Recommended Posts

Two things that guy had going for him to land that aircraft with no damage to either him or the plane: A qualified and experienced flight instructor, and good weather. Plus. a major airport with a long runway. I think perhaps ten other random people may not have been able to do it as well in similar circumstances...

Landing a real plane, even for a long-time flight simmer would probably prove to be the challenge of a lifetime (if you survive). The motion and flight dynamics of a plane is very different than sitting in your den landing a heavy. There is also the vertigo factor that many novice pilots suffer as the plane begins to descend.

I'd add another thing: He didn't panic, he kept his wits about him. Many people would panic, or at least be so nervous that they'd have trouble following directions.

As I said elsewhere, it's more of a nightmare than a "flightsimmer's dream."
