Funny - the picture of the blue and yellow Link Trainer suddenly reminded me that I had the chance to "fly" one in 1946 at a post-war RAF display in Copenhagen probably in 1946. I was around 12 years old, but I think that experience seeded my following interest in aviation and flight simulation. Thanks for posting it!

When I served in the 1970s, the rail-car simulators were long gone. I often escorted tours that came to visit the 22nd Bomb Wing at March AFB, and the B-52 and KC-135 simulators were many times included, when not in use for training. The extremely air-conditioned-chilled buildings were a pleasant relief from the often brutal summer heat there in southern California, after walking about on the tarmac. And youngsters were thrilled at the chance to sit in the mock cockpits and hold the big yokes.
