Hi,

I can’t really comment on the Xbox myself, but I watched a YouTube video earlier tonight on the Turtle Velocity yoke..and it does look good! I have the Honeycomb yoke and throttles (which are superb) but the velocity set looks like serious competition for Honeycomb.

As for the Xbox.. Tim (Tiger1962) uses both a pc & Xbox so no doubt he’ll be replying to this soon.

Regards

Steve

An Xbox is a good option thanks to the price and less mucking about with hardware and operating systems, but there are a couple limitations to consider. One is that you are limited to add-ons available through the built-in Marketplace and can't just download aircraft or scenery from third party websites. A second limitation is support for peripherals. While there are a number of current and future peripherals available for the Xbox, I wouldn't count on all flight sim focused joysticks, throttles, cockpit panels etc. having Xbox support in the long run. Xboxes also don't support multiple or ultrawide (at least right now) monitors. Some of this is really only an issue if you want to get into custom cockpits so may not be relevant, but you should be aware.

Considering MSFS2020 with the latest Xbox, Turtle Velocity yoke setup, rudder pedals. Cost of PC at good to better specs+peripherals is dounting.

Would like to know opinions on the Xbox.

I have the Xbox Series X with controller, wireless keyboard and mouse at the moment - I'll be getting the Turtle Beach Velocity yoke next year sometime. As Loki says, the Xbox version is at a very early stage and won't have access to Freeware mods or support for multiple monitors until later next year but even so, the performance has to be seen to be believed. I'm sticking with my low to mid range PC for the next 12 to 18 months, until the Xbox version is developed further and I can finally kiss Windows goodbye. I'm glad I bought the Xbox at launch, on pre-order direct from Microsoft, because they're selling out faster than Microsoft can make them now.

My bad, it's the PC version which will get multi-monitor support. The Xbox version will be single-screen and without VR too. I'll be happy with a few freeware mods on my Xbox - OK, a few HUNDRED freeware mods - there's all those coffee cups for a start...

I'll be curious to see how they set up management of all the add-ons on an Xbox.

Won't we all! There's a specialist developer on the case who's proved it can be done (to Jorg's satisfaction anyway) but as with any FS file library, it'll need curating 24/7 by somebody, somewhere - a bot ain't going to cut it that's for sure.
