Well it beats the crap out of my PC, especially the GPU, and I'm reasonably happy.

Do you have any particular hopes for performance? With that computer and resolution, I think you should be able to use high (a few ultra) settings and not get less than 35-40 FPS in most situations. Probably significantly more in the air.

Do you need a laptop? If so, get a cooling stand/plate for it since FS2020 drives systems hard now. I don’t know how much of an effect but check to make sure 16GB is enough. I think most recommend 32GB. Also check that 6GB on the display. There was a fair amount of discussion about how much VRAM FS2020 needs and I think 10GB was what people were saying was needed. I haven’t been following the discussions recently though so maybe others know but those seem like the things that might be issues.

The heat issue with a laptop may be a problem but otherwise I think you are OK.. The 10 GB of VRAM would only really apply if you were running 4K. At 1080p you will be fine with 6GB. I run 1920X1200 with 8GB which is plenty for that resolution. You should also be fine with 16GB of ram at 1080p. The processor in a laptop is a bit slow, but the GPU will be more intense than the CPU. 30 fps is plenty to run the sim smoothly. I have my fps limited to 30 fps and maintain that easily.

The sim does create a LOT of heat. If the laptop isn't a necessity, you may be happier with a tower with great ventilation?

Good catch on the SSD, Amberdog1. Since there’s one nvme slot at 3x and one at 4x, it might be better to get just one big nvme 4 drive since 4 is twice as fast as 3.

As an aside, I upgraded my system to support nvme 4 and it’s fast. Highly recommended. My nvme 3 drive is now for my other Steam apps. I partitioned the 4 into two drives and have Windows on the primary partition and FS2020 on the second. Windows boots fast. FS2020 still takes a while to load, though. I don’t know how much the fast drive helps FS2020 boot but it has to be some, and it will certainly help with the cache and such.
