Flight Simulator 2004 Start-up

So I finally want to play FS2004 again after not playing in several years, so I ordered myself a new copy. I installed it onto my laptop with no issues today which is the same laptop I played it on ~8 years ago. However, nothing happens when I try to start the game via the shortcut or file directly.

 

Initially, it wouldn't let me start due to it not being set as the 'administrator' so I adjusted that which is when it started not doing anything. I've now messed with the compatibility under 'Properties' and have tried troubleshooting the compatibility, but nothing continues to happen.

 

Any ideas, anybody? I appreciate any help as I'm not horribly 'tech-y'.

I wonder it's having issues because you are using a 64 Bit OS? I scraped Win 7 64 Bit off this computer and everything runs much better! :pilot:

See the post at the top of this page, regarding installing FS2004 into Windows 10, & try the same for Windows 7.

 

It does not matter if the operating system is 64bit or 32bit.. 64bit is better, as it can address more RAM memory.

I've always installed it directly under C:, not any of the program files subfolders, and started as administrator. Havent had any issues on 64bit Win 7 or 10
