A Real Plane might be cheaper

Recommended Posts

I decided to update the CPU in my PC so found a good deal on a 5800x that was in stock. Since present system is fairly well balanced between CPU and GPU, with the upgrade I figured the GPU would be lacking, so started looking for an upgrade there also. Finally decided to go "almost" all out and picked up a new 6800XT Black. Then after reading realized that to really use the new GPU that my existing motherboard only has PCie 2.0 slots and would bottleneck the 6800XT. So nw have to get a new 570X Asus board to make it all play nice.

Add the cost of all this to the Alpha and Bravo and this "Hobby" is starting to get expensive. Just don't tell me Wife ;)

Yea not cheap at all. I am up to $3400 and my wife capped me off. She said no more, but i am so close all I need is the Garmin 430 and I'm complete. I have the 530 but just need the 430. Only thing is the wife put a stop to it:-(1eb782f661b43bc19e006d56e783f777.jpgd5c49a985d98cc31ee9ddb4a90fec78d.jpg0d11a714c677b248515f8d3582a51382.jpg2c775024870b4e637997d80d29a4ccd0.jpg

At one time they were. When I learned how to fly you could pick up a J-3 Cub, Taylorcraft BC-12D or Aeronca Champ to build up hours with for 600 bucks.

'Course that was back in 1965. :)

I saw a worn out Aeronca (with spiderwebs) for $7,500 on Craigslist Phoenix about a month ago. It gave me something to think about for about 15 minutes.

Nice setup. I am still just using my Oak Rolltop. I have 2 other 28" 4k monitors on my back porch but no room to set them up That would give a wide view. I use my iPad for flight map and charts. Thinking about using my Surface for charts and Simbrief, instead of printing the plan and chart, just to save some trees :).
