I am looking for the basic keyboard commands to (1) stop a flight and change plane or airport without exiting the program, (2)save a flight in progress exit, and come back later.

Esc appears to only cycle between the current flight and options. I wonder how to get back to the world map without exiting the sim and restarting.

Escape Key, then "End" (then confirm your selection) the sim will kind of be exited, but you don't have to start from the VERY beginning.
