General question about how graphics work in a sim like this.

Recommended Posts

Hello again,

I have a question about how graphics work in a sim like this and i will post a picture below. First of all the sim looks great and i have had (after doing some tweaking) some great flights. I'm still blow away by the graphics overall. But in some places the buildings show absolutely no detail. I'm thinking this might be due to how far away I am while flying, not sure. Some places on the map look so much better than others, especially when its a building that is "sticking out" so to speak or a high rise.

Its not a complaint I'm just more or less curious why some buildings look like the picture below and some look so much better. The buildings in the picture are essentially just boxes, but the mapping in front of these buildings on the ground looks outstanding. The setting it was on was ultra.

You should get improved feature detail as you get closer. You are a few thousand feet AGL, and several miles away.

Do you have photogrammetry turned on? It should not look like that.

Edit: I found it in settings and yes its all turned on. I agree that it should not look like that. I feel like that happens in a few cities i fly in, not all of them. I understand graphics being up and down but that is literally just boxes with zero detail even from a distance so something has to be off.

I think it all comes down to how the sim interprets the data from the Bing maps.

In Washington D.C., the Washington Monument originally looked like a glass office building. Asobo fixed in the last update so it appears normal now.

Dubai is not one of the highly detailed cities at the moment. But it might interest you to know I found a FREE landmark pack for Dubai here...

Google maps as in importing their data or an actual map while flying? The one popular add on VR map works well while flying.
