n2b
I installed MSFlight Simulator 98. My desktop has Win-7 Pro (SP-1). I plugged in the sidewinder Precision Pro. I tried to install the old driver that came with the stick, but it would not load so, I plugged the stick in the USB port. Windows detected the stick without the need for a driver. Its responding to the calibration page. All the buttons are showing that it is working OK. However, When I try to fly the Cessna 172, the throttles do not work and the pitch is extremely slow even at max limit movement. There is no response in the roll direction. Is this due to not having a dedicated driver for the Win-7? If so where can I get a driver Thanks
napamule2
I have a USB Sidewinder 2 and Windows 7. No drivers are needed. I plug it into the front USB port. I start Sim (I have used this joy in FS98, FS2k2, FS9 and FSX Accel) then I plug it in. When I touch it the throttle will go FULL (so be ready to hit F1 (cut off)). I calibrate it in Sim. I also adjust the sensetivity with zero null. I have 'auto rudder' OFF. When I finish with Sim I unplug it. So not sure what gives with your set up. Perhaps try another USB port? Good luck. n2b
Tried napamule2 's suggestion. It did'nt work. Anybody know where I can get a driver update to make the Sidewinder 2 work with a 32-bit Win-7 Pro (SP1)?
napamule2
You don't need any drivers (there are not any anyway). Just plug it into a USB port and Windows should recognize it. If it doesn't try another USB port. I use the one in front (and I unplug it after I finish flying). Then I plug it in before I start Flight Sim and it gets recognized. When I start Sim the Sim will 'take over' as it remembers prior setup / assignments. If you plug it into a powered USB HUB it might not work. And if you go look there will be a question mark. Click on that question mark. Then it might recognize it. It will then be listed. Click on it and then go do setup / assignments. Once you do it once the Sim will remember it. You can unplug it and when you plug it in Windows will recognize. Start sim and IT should 'remember' it. Keep trying.
