    Default RTW Retro Flight #121 Budapest to Berlin . . . . . 1962

    Deutsche Lufthansa flight DH-617 is an Ilyushin IL-14P on a flight from Budapest to Berlin Schonefeld (DDR), (EGRF – EDDB). We have 450 gallons of fuel on board for the 370 nm flight of about 2 hours. Fair weather with a slight chance of rain is forecast. We will be cruising at an altitude of 8,000 feet.

    Nice pics Larry. Great landing, you held that nose gear off the runway very well. The gear looks so long that it might appear very susceptible to breakage, but with an aircraft that size, they would have to build it with some very forgiving materials! This is a very nice looking aircraft!

    Thanks David, Rick & Michael. I like doing these flights, but the research sometimes takes a long time.
    Rick, I always figured that the long landing gear on the IL-14s was for poorly drained "high water" runways.
