Jim Hall
Is there a practical reason to use the GPS 500 MAP page rather than the Default NAV page? Is it just preference? Would I be right to think nearly everyone uses the Default NAV page? i7-7700k @ 4.2 Ghz, 16 GB DDR4/3000,2280 SSD M.2,Genome II Case,Nvidia GTX 1080 rear exhaust, Samsung 40" HDTV & Two 24" HP side monitors. llivaudais
I use the GPS primarily for following a flightplan, ground speed, and distance to next waypoint - rarely as a "map" alone. The MAP I only use for manual positioning to an exact location (or trying to precisely locate a runway I can't visually see). I use Plan-G for all other mapping, positioning and flightplanning functionality. Not sure what you mean by "default NAV page"; my GPS always opens with the map first. mrzippy
Are you saying "between these 2 screens"? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

mrzippy
Yes, Sir. OK, that's what I thought! I tend to use the default most of the time. Every once in a while I'll change over to the actual map image. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
CRJ_simpilot
I use the map page with shaded relief to help navigate in mountainous areas and I also turn on my poor man's TAWS to help with a possible flight into terrain condition. Mostly when I fly to Kathmandu. For the most part I use the Nav page and hit the clear button once or twice to get rid of clutter. OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk? An awesome weather website with oodles of Info. and options. Wile E. Coyote would be impressed.
