RAF Wilmslow UK

Recommended Posts

I watched the movie 'Hurricane' last night for the second time, I missed this the first time for some reason anyway I spotted it this time round.

RAF Wilmslow, I live not too far from there and to be honest I never knew it existed, so I looked it up and found this which might interst a few:

Screenshot from the move that aroused my interest.

Notice some of the names of the roads, all named after aircraft.

The Airfield close in 1962, and was divided by the A34. Opened in 1938.

That was several years after the first flight of the Hurricane, so why was a Recruit Training centre being used for the Hurricane? What was the reason espoused in the movie?
