They all seem to drift to the left no matter how much right rudder I give to max. What do I adjust in the cfg to increase the rudder deflection. tiger1962 Posted October 6, 2019 Share Posted October 6, 2019 In the [flight_tuning] section, change: rudder_effectiveness =1.0 to: rudder_effectiveness =1.5 These figures are percentages, so changing 1.0 to 1.5 increases rudder effectiveness by 50%. If you find that's too much, reduce it to 1.25. If it's not enough, increase to 1.75 and so on. You can fine tune it by .01 at a time to get it spot on. Thanks Nothing, Instead hold the tail down with aft stick until the rudder comes `alive`. The Messerschmitt was known for the narrow-track undercarriage and canted wheels, making it susceptible to swinging on take-off and landing. OK, it is the same one I found on another site. Are you in the cockpit or outside view when taking off? I found that there is good rudder steering while taxiing at low speed with rudder movement full left to right. Takeoff is difficult when in the cockpit until the tail lifts and visibility of the runway occurs. I did notice that there is NO rudder movement after liftoff until the wheels touch the deck again. Since it is a 2D cockpit only, maybe hitting the w key to give the open view during takeoff might help. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! tgibson_new Posted October 8, 2019 Share Posted October 8, 2019 OK, another way to deal with this is to reduce the P-Factor in settings. Settings/Realism (opening screen) or Aircraft/Realism Settings (if flying). Slide the P-Factor slider all the way to the left. You may need to slide the Torque slider too. I did find that I had "autorudder" checked in the settings so I disabled that and now have full rudder control in the air. I used the mini panel while doing the takeoff and there is pull to the left, but very correctable using the rudder and I managed to stay on the runway for takeoff. I have sliders maxed out to the right for all of the realism settings, P-factor, etc. I don't see any way to dramatically change it so it travels in a straight line during takeoff. It looks like moving the p-factor to the left solved the problem. All the ME 109s now track down the center of the runway. I never thought of the p-factor as I moved all the settings to the right side and have been using the sim that way. The WW2 fighters still being flown (eg. by Vintage Wings of Canada based at Gateneau near Ottawa) never go to full power on take off as..... you've guessed it!
