What kind of return on fps could I expect with an i7-9700, nvidia 2070 8gb, 32 gb ddr4 memory 2666, water cooled, 850 watt power supply, and p3d4+?

P3D is usually not included in benchmark performance output forums.

"What kind of return on fps could I expect"

A good one.

And P3D will usually not be included in those benchmarks, because it is not a FPS "game", but a niche market simulation.

In what you have posted about your proposed rig, I would check the motherboard specs and go for the fastest RAM you can install on it.

This is what I settled on based on budget ability / constraints.

Win 10 64 bit , i7 9800x 3.8 GHz , RTX 2080 8GB , 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4. It isn't top-of-the-line, but it sure isn't a bottom feeder, either.

What do I need to know about gaming / simming and Windows 10? The last time I bought a computer was April 2010.

LOL! How many months do you have for an answer?? Seriously though, just common sense.P3D is not like FSX - you want to tune it for the LOWEST fps you can run and STILL get SMOOTH performance. Higher FPS does not mean smooth performance. For example, on my system I lock my FPS at 20 and I can still have most settings at or near max and it is smooth.

Try to set up a repeatable setting that you can test against when you add new things.

And, with P3D - deleting the p3d.cfg file is always a good way to reset the sim.

Good luck,

Vic

I have the same setup as you but with an Nvidia 2080 refrence card. I can run P3dV4 nearly at max using a detailed airport and PMDG 777 while maintaining 35 FPS. I do use a 2580x1080 monitor, so a smaller 16x9 widescreen dsiplay will give you beter FPS.

I just received my new pc. The specs are pretty much the same (cpu/gpu), Ram is at 32gb and power supply a 750 watt. P3D v4.5xxx runs super! Bought rig from Jetline Systems. Very professional and a wonderful group of guys to work with! It’s the GT2. Edited by wblackret
