SAS flight 551 is a Douglas DC-6 on a flight from Amsterdam to Brussels (EHAM - EBBR). We have 800 gallons of fuel on board for the short 86 nm flight. We are expecting moderate cloud cover and fair visibility for the flight. We will be cruising at 8,000 feet.

8. About 25 nm from Schiphol near the Town of Lekkerkerk with the Lek River below.

10. We have crossed into Belgium near the village of Kalmthout and see the estuary of the Scheldt River in the Netherlands off and below our right wingtip.

11. About 5 nm north of Antwerp the visibility is partially obscured by clouds.

13. We have been routed to the west of Brussels and are now turning to the south for an approach to runway 02.

14. Making a final turn toward the north northeast.

16. We have the runway in sight and have flaps 40 and gear down.

17. Three miles out at 700 feet we are lined up on final with flaps full.

18. Touchdown at Brussels Zaventem.

19. Taxiing to parking we see the Melsbroek Air Base that shares the runways with Zaventem.
