31448 Posted June 21, 2019 Share Posted June 21, 2019 I'm running FSX Box; SP1 & SP2. No additions in the Chicago area or Illinois at all. But, when I get close to the city my sim locks up and I have to re-start my PC to get out of the problem. Would anyone have some advise on what I might do? Thanks. lnuss Posted June 21, 2019 Share Posted June 21, 2019 What happens is that, as you approach Chicago (or New York, or L.A. or...), the scenery gets more dense, as does the AI traffic, thus making your computer work harder and harder, the closer you get. The solution is to cut your AI traffic quite a bit, and to reduce your scenery sliders quite a bit until your computer no longer gives you fits -- it can only do so much, and even a bare FSX can bring most computers to their knees with everything maxed. Basically, it's trial and error until you find the max that works for you on your computer -- others will have different settings. Larry N.
