Slow, non responsive FSX

I just started having this problem lately. The program doesn't seem to load the terrain when I am descending into an airport. It shows a basic green "carpet". When I try to force it by adjusting the scenery density, the screen goes white and sometimes I have to quit the program. Following is my pc info;

Have you added anything recently to the Sim? Like scenery for example?

No not really. In fact, i went thru my Addon scenery and unchecked several scenery files that i can live without. The event viewer identified SODE as a cause of the shutdown so i uninstalled and reinstalled the program. I used to have a program called Alicrity? but that doesnt seem to work any more.

Have you installed FreeMeshX by any chance?

I don't know if it's SODE or not, but are you using GSX? If so, make sure you have the latest SODE. https://sode.12bpilot.ch/

 

The program you are talking about is called AlacrityPC. I don't really recommend any of those so-called PC optimizers. Make damn sure it's not on your system. You can use Autoruns and disable crap that should not need to be started on boot. But don't untick or delete anything you shouldn't. You can also right click an entry and have Virus Total scan it. Another nice tool is Freefixer, but don't let the name fool you. This isn't snake oil BS. It will scan the computer and present you with a list of crap on your machine. Most items will have a link for you to research those items. https://www.freefixer.com/

No i have not. the last thing i installed was GSX update. and i do have the latest SODE, i belive it is 1.6.3

v 1.63 is what you want. But to rule out an issue since event viewer specified it, try uninstalling it and fly. See what happens.

 

Under add-ons in the Sim, top screen, what modules do you have? Modules can play hell.

My config file was to big, 66238 characters. Could that be the problem?

One thing I try if there's a problem - rename your FSX config file, start FSX over again and let it re-build the config file.

See if that fixes anything... if not, delete the that config file and put back the original.

 

Note related to your problem, but your PC specs are right on the margins to actually run FSX...

It does indeed sound like the FSX.CFG might be your issue - mine, for instance, is 13 KB.

 

By all means, follow Pepper321's advice and see what happens. I wouldn't say that your rig is on the margins for running FSX, but it is on the low-speed side.

I kept getting a message that couatl was unable to start, and to add the addon folder to my antivirus exclude, which i had already done when i downloaded the updated GSX. While on the ground at an airport, I tried to go to another airport and it started loading, but then it was almost 8 minutes until it positioned itself at the new airport. Maybe i can post my config file in two different replies so it will not be to large of a file. Don't know what else to do.

Couatl is the module for FSDreamTeam and FlightBeam airports, etc. You may want to try updating it.

I would really like to see the newly generated FSX.CFG - from your posting of the system specs, I could suspect that 2 graphics adapters are playing into this...

Your resolution is set at 1320x818 in fsx

and 1024x768 in windows.

Make those the same.

 

Also, set fewer ships. 5% instead of 40.

 

And switch aircraft labels off.

What file was the one in post #16?

the first one, double spaced is dll.xml

I think you have that backwards. The first one is the exe.xml and the second one is the dll.xml.

 

The first one denotes any exe modules. The second any dll modules.

 

I'll have a closer look at this when I get on my desktop.

Make damn sure your anti-virus or what ever isn't blocking anything. You may want to just disable it while flying.

There was only one graphics adapter. But set FreewayDensity to 5 also, and UPPER-FRAMERATE_LIMIT to 30.
