Afterburner flames ?

GBJim

Recommended Posts

I have Mr. Ito's F-100 Super Sabre, and what a fine flying bird it is. However .... Even though the Effects folder contains flame effects, and I have extracted the contents to both my Airplane and Effects folder, nothing is lighting up back there.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. :)

Did the effects come with the download of that aircraft? Have you checked your [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg to see if they are assigned? Doyou have all lights on for takeoff? I have an F100 that I can check out tomorrow morning.

Yes Charlie, the Effects folder was included in Mr. Ito's download. The landing lights and Nav lights are all on, but no afterburner flame. The exhaust nozzle glows a soft red, and maybe that's all that I'm going to get ?

I made changes to the [lights] section in the one I have. Give me the file name of yours and I'll check it out.

Hi zip. Do those effects turn on automatically at high thrust? Or do you need to press a key to light them?

They come on when pressing the o key for strobe lights. It never turned on when going to full thrust.

Thank you zippy. First let of say I thought about you a lot lately. (calif fires) . Hope the smoke is not too thick where you are. Maybe hide out on alcatraz for a while.:)

I won't have any time the next two weeks at least.

I was making a gauge to do this a year ago, turn on burners at high thrust. Was pretty much done, but not ready for upload.

Then ran out of time to do it in, and never got back to it. Working on several others as well. But keeping it on the back burner. (pun not intended.)

The main issue was that every plane has is's burner effects at different light.x numbers. (light.7 could be a burner in one plane. But it could be light.9 in another.)

ahh well, maybe, someday...

No fires near the city. About 65-100 miles north. The sea breeze is keeping the smoke away for now.

OK, Jim, this will be an easy fix! Copy my lights section into your .cfg and when you want the AB on, press the oh key.

Charlie, I deleted my Lights file from the aircrafts Cfg, and replaced it with yours. Still no flames at the nozzle. She's still a good lookin, good flyin bird, and I can get along without the flames. Please don't go to any additional trouble in trying to make them work, I can live with it the way that it is.

Thank you for your help my friend, it's always appreciated.

Even when pressing the letter o key? Are you sure you have those F14 effects in your FSX/Effects folder, not the aircraft folder?

Yes, I have been pressing the O letter key. Now about F-14 effects in my Effects folder , I don't know, and will have to check on that. I have never installed an F-14, so I don't know why it should be there ? ? ?

Where are the effects that came with the download???????

From your first post: Even though the Effects folder contains flame effects, and I have extracted the contents to both my Airplane and Effects folder,

Effects only should be in your FSX/Effects folder.

Yes, I corrected that. The Effects are only in my FSX/Effects folder. And yes I checked, it's loaded with F-14 flames. Charlie, let's give it up on this. I'm beyond help, and it's just taking up too much of your time.

and, which file did you download.

there's 100's of super sabre downloads.

always mention the filename, and where you downloaded.

Otherwise there's really no point in trying to help out.

Have you tried hitting the "I" Key (Smoke System activation) and see if the Afterburner kicks in?

This is the one that I am using. I turn on the lights, and strobe and they all work. I press the O key, I key, and a lot of other keys, and not a flicker of a flame. :(
