q400 controls

Hi to all...

I'm still quite wobbly after just getting on the P3dv4.2 bandwagon.A lot carried over from my years with FSX,but I mainly stayed with the default aircraft.

My wife's ship just came in....and to celebrate I went and bought the Majestic Dash-8 q400.....boy am I in over my head !!!

I'm reading any and all the info in any forum or youtube that may help, but I'm still dysfunctional when it comes to understanding how in the blue blazes you get the "Flight and Engine " controls to work. The ailerons and elevator controls seem to move, but the levers don't do anything.

I have the old Saitek Yoke and 1 throttle quad.... but I don't use FSUIPC.

Should I get FSUIPC...or use the advanced engine that Majestic says is the cat's meow !!

I'm all tied up trying to figure this thing out.

Some of the Youtube explanations whiz by just too fast for this ole 73yr old to keep up with.

I've had loads of help on this forum before and all you guys are really good with explanations and instructions that are easy to follow....and work !!!

I am truly grateful to have such helpful members share their knowledge !!

First Skip, I'm 81 so it can be done. Need a little info on your system and how you have your controls connected.

Are you able to control the default aircraft with the Saitek Yoke and TQ?

Have you tried the Q400 tutorial, step by step?

also, a recommendation - when using a complex a/c like the 400, do NOT set it as the default flight. You need to load a simple a/c like the Piper Cub and after it has loaded, then switch to the q400.

FWIW I use the registered version of FSUIPC to control ALL my controllers. If you go that way, also a recommendation, look for this - http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/SIMSAMURAI+FSUIPC+TUTORIAL.pdf

See how that goes.

Firstly, you will get little support for an `old` version - current sim is P3Dv4.3 - and for 4.2 customers is freely downloadable from the Lockheed Martin website. Majestic will not support support requests for backdated sim versions, so updating to the latest is simple, and recommended before attempting to update the control set through the Majestic software.

Second: If you have already got it working in 4.2 save the control set file from your mjc8q400 folder mjc84.ini as you can re-use it in 4.3.

Third: Support forum is located at

First, definitely get FSUIPC Registered version. I would not fly without it.

As for the Majestic Q400, use this tool that you can download from this site:

http://viaintercity.com/forums/bombardier-dash-8-q400-(dhc-8-402q)/majestic-q400-pro-125hz-controls-config-tool/

This tool has made setting up the controllers in the Majestic Q400, sooo very easy.

I loved it so much I joined the Intercity Virtual Airline so I would have a place to fly my Majestic Q400 :pilot:.

NOTE: You must have the "Pro" edition to use the tool.
