Speedbird21
After updating the Scenery portion, do you need to then re-run the installers for any third party scenery you may have installed, specifically ORBX?
vgbaron
Usually you just run FTX Central and it will sort them out. Other sceneries may need installers rerun to adjust proper files. I just updated the Client and Content - don't see any major changes that would warrant my changing scenery. Speedbird21
Thanks Vic. I ran the installers last night and then the FTX Central like you suggested and all seems to be harmonious.
jorgen.s.andersen
One tip I saw on the official P3D forum was that after the upgrade (with P3D shut down) you should delete the Prepar3D.cfg file and your Shaders folder and then let P3D rebuild them. vgbaron
That's always a good idea - sort of cleans out any cobwebs. Jorgen I'll have to try that. I know zero about P3D.
mallcott
I'll have to try that. I know zero about P3D. Can't see the role performed by deleting the Shader file? Best to save that for a driver update. But it does no harm. Dont Delete the Prepar3d.cfg. Just rename it to `.old` or somesuch then you can compare old and new... A full changelog and how it applies to each of the .msi's is here https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/prepar3d/what_is_new/new_v43.html The recommendation is that you delete the temporary files. You must update Client .msi to get 4.3 You only get the new aircraft if you update the Content.msi There are three small updates in the Scenery .msi

Yes, it does no harm but also yes it is recommended. Quite often LM makes changed to the HLSL Shaders which are used to compile the runtime shaders (the ones you are ok to delete). I f you donn't delete the shaders then the new ones cannot be rebuilt. I am in the habit of deleting the shaders after I install ANYTHING to P3D and, of course it's mandatory after a driver update.
